Rebirth in 1986: Unforgettable Regrets

Chapter 1363: Drunk

Chapter 1363: Chapter 1363: Drunk

Since that night, the relationship between Meng Shuqing and An Bai suddenly grew much closer.

Although they hadn’t broken through the final layer of their relationship, the way they interacted was already akin to that of a couple, unbeknownst to them.

No, An Bai was very aware, it was like the slow simmering of a frog in warm water, gradually entering Meng Shuqing’s heart.

The cold winter had arrived, and the first heavy snowfall in Beiyang descended gracefully.

The snowflakes, as large as goose feathers, seemed to cover the entire city with a white blanket.

Meng Shuqing grew up in Jing City, so she was already quite accustomed to heavy snow.

“Chenchen.”

When An Bai sent the snowy scene to Meng Shuqing, his words were filled with excitement.

Having spent many years abroad, he had seen snow before, but whenever he saw snow, his greatest desire was to build snowmen and have snowball fights with Chenchen.

Especially since there was something he particularly wanted to do.

“Oh, it’s snowing.”

Meng Shuqing lazily turned over in bed; the indoor heating meant the temperature wasn’t cold at all. However, as she had no morning classes, she wanted to sleep a bit longer.

“Let’s go build a snowman.”

Right after An Bai sent the message, he entered her room and knocked on her door.

“No, I’m going back to sleep.”

Meng Shuqing pulled the blanket over herself and said, “Cold and freezing, what’s fun about snow?”

Sleeping in bed was much better.

Meng Shuqing mumbled to herself, but ultimately couldn’t resist the persistent An Bai outside the door.

After a hot breakfast, she changed into a bright red down jacket, which complemented her snow-white skin. Her big eyes, exposed outside, were incredibly beautiful.

“I’m taking you somewhere.”

An Bai said this and pulled Meng Shuqing along.

Downstairs from their apartment, many adults were already playing in the snow with their children. The snow on the lawn had been disturbed, and she said, “Aren’t we playing here?”

“You want to go to our school?”

Meng Shuqing looked at An Bai confusedly. Sometimes she really admired An Bai; although he was only a year older, he was far ahead of her academically.

“No.”

An Bai pulled her straight into the car, maintaining a mysterious air.

On the main road, professionals had already cleared the snow.

“Where are we going?”

Meng Shuqing looked around, feeling like they were going further out.

“I won’t sell you off.” An Bai laughed and replied.

Jian Xing woke up late, and when she excitedly went to find Meng Shuqing to play in the snow, Meng Shuqing had already been taken away by An Bai. Jian Xing was a little disappointed and said, “Have fun. I’ll find classmates to play with.”

Jian Xing hung up the phone, looked at the still fluttering big snowflakes outside, sighed, and thought she would admire this beautiful snow by herself.

Suddenly, her view darkened, and when she looked up, she froze upon seeing who had come.

“When did you buy a villa here?”

Meng Shuqing saw the beautiful little villa, and in the villa’s yard, the pure white snow showed no signs of man-made pollution. It really looked like a layer of creamy white blanket and was utterly beautiful.

“Do you like it?” An Bai watched her expression, knowing without having to ask that she liked it.

She loved this architectural style the most; everything was designed to her liking. If she didn’t like it, it would indeed be strange.

They hadn’t brought much; after getting out of the car, An Bai took out the snow play tools that he had long prepared.

“You’ve got everything ready!”

Meng Shuqing said this while watching An Bai busy himself. She indeed felt like joining in the snow play.

The snow in the yard was clean and pure; Meng Shuqing’s playful spirit was ignited. The two of them gleefully engaged in a snowball fight and then started building a snowman.

Amidst an icy world with swirling snowflakes, it was obviously cold, yet their hearts were warm.

The two snowmen, wearing matching blue and red scarves, looked exceptionally cute.

“How’s my snowman? Looks great, doesn’t it?”

Meng Shuqing admired her red snowman more and more, finding it adorable. Though it was slightly smaller than the blue one, it appeared elegant and delicate.

“Looks good; it’s a perfect match with my blue snowman.” An Bai’s eyes sparkled as he took Meng Shuqing’s cold-red hand and held it tightly in his palm, rubbing and breathing warmth over it.

“I saw this was how others warmed their hands when they were cold,” An Bai grinned, remembering the young couple he had seen the last time. Now he was finally putting it to use.

Meng Shuqing blinked her eyes at him, seeing him earnestly warming her hands, not wanting to dampen his spirits, feeling warmth in her heart.

The two of them were like children, playing to their hearts’ content in the snow before entering the villa. Inside, Meng Shuqing found everything to her liking, and since she had classes only the next day, she joined An Bai for a hotpot meal!

Outside, the snowflakes danced, and they moved the dining table close to the floor-to-ceiling window, just in time to see the two snowmen outside.

Inside, it was warm; outside was an icy world, with the two snowmen with blue and red scarves smiling at them through the window.

The steaming hotpot was rich in aroma and tasted wonderfully satisfying.

“Chenchen, drink less wine.”

An Bai reminded her, noting that although this fruit wine wasn’t high in alcohol, drinking too much could still lead to intoxication.

“I’m happy today. Won’t you let me have a drink?”

Meng Shuqing smiled as she responded, having already drunk quite a bit of fruit wine. Her face was rosy, eyes bright with a hint of intoxication, making her seem a bit dazed and less clear. She continued to pour wine as she said, “I had a lot of fun today, and the hotpot is delicious, so I just want to have a drink to celebrate.”

Meng Shuqing also poured wine for An Bai and said, “When you’re happy, drinking a little wine is great, isn’t it?”

“Come on, tonight we’re drinking until we’re tipsy!”

Meng Shuqing beamed, downing glass after glass. Her tolerance for alcohol wasn’t very high, and she got drunk quickly.

“I’m not drunk.”

Meng Shuqing kept insisting that she wasn’t drunk, and An Bai supported her unsteady figure, agreeing with her by saying, “Okay, you’re not drunk. I’ll take you to your room to rest.”

“No.” Meng Shuqing shook her head, seeing two An Bais in her blurred vision, her eyes narrowing as she murmured, “Xiao Bai, do you like me?”

“Silly, you just realized?”

An Bai lightly tapped her nose, amused by her tipsy and silly demeanor, remembering the days they spent together and realizing he needed that overt acknowledgment of their relationship.

Though Chenchen had agreed to be his nominal girlfriend before, Meng Shuqing had kept Aunt Tang completely in the dark, and he wanted to take things further, to openly stand by her and announce to the world that Chenchen was his woman.

“Chenchen.”

An Bai supported her against the wall, drawing closer and looking at her intently as he said, “Chenchen, do you remember what you said when you were young?”
