Rebirth in 1986: Unforgettable Regrets

Chapter 798: She Isn’t Lian He’s Biological Daughter

Chapter 798: Chapter 798: She Isn’t Lian He’s Biological Daughter

Lian Tong immediately instructed people to notify Gu Chun, and, at the same time, she and a few subordinates gave pursuit.

The opponent was well-prepared, driving at a steady pace to shake off Lian Tong.

Lian Tong herself took the wheel, and the speed nearly hit the limit. The passengers inside the vehicle turned pale, as the scenery outside the car windows flashed by in a blur, making it impossible to see clearly.

Fortunately, they were near the airport with wide roads, so Lian Tong stamped down the accelerator to the floor.

The two men in the car exchanged a glance. Although accustomed to speeding, they had never seen such reckless driving as Lian Tong’s.

Throughout the journey, after countless sharp turns, they had to cling to the safety handles inside the car, or else they might have been thrown out.

Could it be that they failed to catch Boss Shi and instead die in a car accident?

The two men exchanged worried glances, thinking this way, but no one dared to voice it out.

Although Lian Tong wasn’t one of them, her security company’s power was indisputable—who would dare to question it?

Despite being a woman, Lian Tong sometimes exhibited a ruthlessness surpassing that of men. Those who defied her suffered miserably, and since then, who in the entire company dared to disrespect or fear Lian Tong?

Focused on driving, Lian Tong paid no attention to the thoughts of the two men as she single-mindedly chased after the black car.

Having pursued all the way to an abandoned factory, Lian Tong stopped the car and looked at the decrepit red walls, with paint peeling off due to long stretches without people, and weeds overgrown everywhere—the place looked quite old.

"Sister Tong, be careful of an ambush," warned one of the men. They had just gotten off the plane and were unarmed.

If there truly was an ambush, if something happened to Sister Tong, they would bear an unforgivable responsibility, even in death.

"Miss Lian, since you’ve come, surely you’re not too scared to come in, right?" The voice from the loudspeaker rose, and the insolent laughter, amplified, seemed to spread throughout the entire abandoned factory.

"Is this your beloved niece?" The speaker’s voice sounded again.

"Aunt, save me."

Lian Qingqing’s voice was filled with fear and panic; she had no idea what was going on when these crazies had kidnapped her.

"Sister Tong, we can’t go in," the man insisted, saying, "Brother Gu will be here soon, it won’t be too late to go in then."

"Yes, Sister Tong, we can’t go in."

The other man also chimed in, both of them standing guard in front of Lian Tong, watching their surroundings cautiously.

"Having come all this way, do you think they would let us just wait?" Lian Tong’s gaze grew somber. She retrieved a dagger from the car, slid it into her boot, and said, "You two stay outside."

"No way."

Both men spoke in unison.

"Don’t worry, what he wants is to lure Gu Chun here, isn’t it?" Lian Tong’s lips formed a firm line, knowing that entering might make her a hostage, but if she didn’t, Lian Qingqing’s life could be at stake.

Even though she wasn’t fond of her, she couldn’t stand by and watch Lian Qingqing die.

Thus, she had to go in.

"Don’t worry, I won’t be in any immediate danger."

Lian Tong strode into the factory. The two men wanted to follow, but Lian Tong was right—if they went in, they were certain to die. However, Lian Tong wouldn’t necessarily die, and they needed to guide Gu Chun when he arrived.

Upon entering the factory gate, Lian Tong noticed many people inside with guns. She walked boldly into the abandoned factory, which was very tall.

Lian Qingqing was hanging from a high place, her hands tied, barely touching the ground with the tips of her toes. Seeing Lian Tong arrive, she was extremely agitated: "Aunt, save me."

Lian Qingqing had never experienced such a situation before and was terrified at her core.

Lian Tong glanced at her and noted there was no immediate danger to her life. She quietly sized up the surroundings; from the entrance to the interior, there were at least a dozen men visible, not counting those hidden.

Lian Tong’s gaze fell on a man with a scarred face sitting next to Lian Qingqing. A long scar stretched from the corner of his mouth to his chin, resembling a large earthworm lying across his face, adding to his sinister appearance.

Coupled with his gloomy eyes, being stared at by him felt like being watched by a poisonous snake, sending shivers down one’s spine.

Lian Tong stood calmly and asked, "Are you Boss Shi?"

Boss Shi was fiddling with a dagger in his hand, its blade gleaming. Hearing Lian Tong’s words, his gaze shifted toward her, and even from a distance, it made Lian Tong’s heart skip a beat.

Who knew how much blood had stained Boss Shi’s hands; his eyes were filled with murderous intent.

"Yes, Gu Chun’s woman, you seem rather calm," Boss Shi said with a gravelly voice, as if gravel was caught in his throat, and added, "Miss Lian, sorry to summon you in this manner."

"Release Qingqing; the one you want to capture is me."

Lian Tong stepped forward, approaching to see Lian Qingqing’s bound hands, which were pale and marked with clear red welts.

"I know you want to deal with Gu Chun, but Qingqing is innocent," Lian Tong continued without waiting for Boss Shi to respond, adding, "Qingqing is after all from the Lian Family, unlike me, who has been ostracized and brought shame to the Lian Family. Moreover, Qingqing is also the Xie Family’s daughter-in-law. I believe Boss Shi is very aware of the serious implications of this."

One was from the Lian Family, the other from the Xie Family—both not to be trifled with.

Lian Tong stood there unruffled, unafraid even as she faced over a dozen gun barrels. Her face, though stunning, revealed not a trace of fear.

"Lian Family’s person?" Boss Shi sneered, standing up. The dagger in his hand rested on Lian Qingqing’s pretty face. His smirk carried a mocking curve as he asked, "You mean her?"

Lian Tong’s eyebrows knit slightly, sensing a hidden meaning in Boss Shi’s words.

"She’s not even Lian He’s biological daughter; why the concern?" Boss Shi’s words were like a stone cast into a calm lake, creating massive ripples.

"That’s nonsense," Lian Qingqing retorted instinctively. She argued loudly, even forgetting her fear.

Panic was apparent in her eyes.

"Do you really not know the truth?" Boss Shi laughed coldly, holding the dagger close to Lian Qingqing’s face. The chilling blade made Lian Qingqing’s heart pound like a drum, fear coursing from the soles of her feet, spreading through her limbs, pervading her entire being.

She was terrified that Boss Shi’s knife would strike her heart, ending her life.

Her fear also lay in her family secret being exposed; without the identity of the Lian Family’s young mistress, could she still marry into the Xie Family?
