Rebirth in 1986: Unforgettable Regrets

Chapter 900: She’s Gone Mad

Chapter 900: Chapter 900: She’s Gone Mad

"Beautiful."

Tang Yue really liked these photos. Meng Siyu, who had swapped his white shirt for a casual black-gray outfit, matched her light purple sweater perfectly. His face appeared gentle, with a faint smile at the corner of his mouth. The gaze he directed at her, despite being seen through a photo, conveyed warmth and a moving affection.

Tang Yue carefully selected and reviewed the photos repeatedly, lavishly praising Lian Qingyang’s photography skills. Compared to before, the photos taken by Lian Qingyang seemed even more beautiful.

"Sis, as long as you like them, that’s all that matters. Next time when we go out, I can take even more beautiful photos." Lian Qingyang proudly responded to the praise.

"Absolutely, this photography skill really needs to be further developed." Tang Yue said while looking at the photos, "Why don’t you deliver Jin Yan’s photo yourself?"

"I won’t deliver it; you deliver it yourself."

Tang Yue handed over Jin Yan’s photo directly.

Lian Qingyang shook his head hurriedly and said, "Sis, I’m not delivering it."

"Why are you, a man, afraid of a girl?" Tang Yue teased him.

"Sis, I’m not afraid of her." Lian Qingyang replied, lacking confidence, haunted by memories of the softness of her lips and her sweet scent from that embarrassing moment. He hasn’t figured out how to face her yet.

Lian Qingyang put down the photo and returned to his room. As he was about to turn off the lights to sleep, he realized he seemed to have dropped a photo while sorting them out.

He picked it up off the floor; it was a solo side profile photo of Jin Yan. The warm lighting in the room added a dreamy feeling to it. He recalled taking this photo while Xie Ni was signing an autograph for her, and she looked at Xie Ni with admiration, hands clasped, full of excitement.

Maybe it was her smile that infected him, prompting him to press the shutter and capture that beautiful moment.

At that moment, he thought the scene was beautiful, and indeed, the photo turned out very pretty.

In the photo, Jin Yan’s smile was radiant, her eyes seemed to twinkle, and under the warm lighting her side profile looked very beautiful.

For some reason, Lian Qingyang’s gaze fell on her lips. Her lips were of a moderate thickness, extremely lovely when she smiled, and she had neat, pearly white teeth. He remembered how her lips had smelled sweet and felt soft, and her teeth were quite hard, hurting his chin when they bumped against it.

Lian Qingyang instinctively touched his chin and lips, still feeling a slight ache there.

Suddenly realizing what he was doing, Lian Qingyang quickly pulled open the bedside table drawer, stuffed the photo into a book inside, and turned off the lights to sleep, forcing himself to count sheep.

Tang Yue intended to create an opportunity for them, yet Lian Qingyang had been leaving early and returning late for several days. Meeting Jin Yan was out of the question; even Tang Yue seldom saw him. Hence, Tang Yue seized the chance when Jin Yan came over to give her the photos.

"Photos?" Jin Yan, initially hesitant, lost all reservations upon hearing about the photos, grabbing them excitedly and screaming with each one she viewed, overwhelmed and speechless with joy.

"Xie Ni, I really did have a photo taken with Xie Ni!"

Only now did Jin Yan feel it was real; otherwise, just seeing the autograph left her thinking it might be a hallucination.

Tang Yue laughed and said, "That’s right, you took a photo with Xie Ni, and there will be more opportunities to take photos with her in the future."

"Yes." Jin Yan nodded excitedly, "Sister Xiao Yue, working with you is really great!"

*

Night.

Tang Yue specifically mentioned it to Lian Qingyang.

Lian Qingyang thought of the photo he picked up, and now taking it out seemed inappropriate, so he kept quiet about it.

"Knock, knock, knock."

Lian He suddenly showed up.

"Dad." Lian Qingyang shifted his thoughts, looking at Lian He with surprise. Dinner was over, so why was Dad here?

"Xiao Yang, Xiao Yue."

Lian He greeted them, then entered and greeted Tang Zhengde and Zhang Hualian too. After all this time together, though encounters between Lian He and Zhang Hualian were a bit awkward, everyone had actively moved past previous issues, socializing like ordinary relatives.

"Zaozao and Chenchen are asleep." Tang Yue said, assuming Lian He had specially come to see the children.

"Let them sleep; I came to talk with Xiao Yang." Lian He looked at Lian Qingyang and didn’t lie.

He came to see Xiao Yue and the kids, but he also had something to discuss with Lian Qingyang.

"Let’s go to my room then."

Lian Qingyang replied, inviting Lian He to his room.

Lian He entered and surveyed the room; it was his first time in Lian Qingyang’s room. The room in their home was large and fully equipped, but this smaller room was warm and cozy. On the bedside table sat a family photo taken days ago.

"When was this taken? Zaozao and Chenchen have grown bigger."

Lian He mused, looking at the photo. In the picture, Zaozao and Chenchen were adorably chubby with bright, big eyes, like cute little babies in a painting.

"Just taken a few days ago." Lian Qingyang knew Lian He wanted such a family photo too and said, "Dad, during New Year, maybe we can have sister and brother-in-law bring Zaozao and Chenchen back to the Lian Family, so we can take a family photo too."

"That’s good."

Lian He instantly agreed to the idea. After finishing up the small talk, he put on a serious face and said, "Xiao Yang, Xiang Yazhi has gone mad, and Grandma Xiang has passed away."

"What?"

Lian Qingyang stood up in shock, utterly surprised by Lian He’s words.

Xiang Yazhi going mad didn’t stir much feeling in Lian Qingyang; from childhood, Xiang Yazhi treated him indifferently, never seeing him as her own son, gradually leading to his disappointment in her.

But Grandma Xiang was different; Grandma Xiang and Grandpa Xiang both truly loved him.

When Grandpa Xiang passed away, Lian Qingyang felt sad for quite some time, and now Grandma Xiang was gone too.

The two who cared for him the most in the Xiang Family were both gone, leaving a blockage in Lian Qingyang’s heart.

"Shen Jing was sentenced to death." Lian He’s next revelation stunned Lian Qingyang.

Though a bit unexpected, it seemed like the rightful outcome. He said, "What he did deserved the death penalty. Poor Shen Yunfei, growing up without a mother and now losing his dad too."

"Shen Yunfei probably won’t return to the country; he doesn’t know about this." Lian He sighed emotionally; he had met Shen Jing once before his death, and the past lingered, leaving even a man nearing the end like Lian He puzzled over who was to blame.

"I must return to Sea City." Lian Qingyang pressed his lips together and said, "With Grandma Xiang’s passing, I ought to see her off."
