Chapter 964: Bringing You Wedding Sweets
Chapter 964: Chapter 964: Bringing You Wedding Sweets
"Wifey, I’m happy."
"My brothers have also settled down, and they’ve gotten married."
"They’ve been with me for nearly ten years, through thick and thin, and seeing them get married makes me happy."
"Wifey, I’m really happy."
Si Yu’s face was flushed red with drunkenness, his eyes hazy, and he kept murmuring that Li Wei and Yan Dong were his brothers.
"Brother Meng, I’ll help you inside." Zhao Xiangqian secretly wiped his reddened eyes. He could understand Si Yu’s feelings today. The three of them had been with him the longest, and seeing Li Wei and Yan Dong get married made him happy too.
Back when Si Yu got married, the three of them were also dead drunk.
That feeling of not being blood brothers but even closer than real brothers was something Zhao Xiangqian cherished deeply.
"Wifey." Si Yu pushed Zhao Xiangqian away with disdain, muttering, "My wifey smells nice."
"Brother Meng, I’m Zhao Xiangqian." Zhao Xiangqian looked at Si Yu helplessly as he swayed, drunk and unable to recognize people, yet still aware enough to call his little sister-in-law and say she smelled nice!
No wonder Brother Meng rarely drank, perhaps fearing he’d lose his composure?
"Wifey."
Si Yu staggered around shouting for his ’wifey’, like a child searching for candy.
Tang Yue was just letting Mo Xiaolin and her father-in-law, Meng Jin, look after the kids, so she could return to care for Si Yu. She heard him say, ’My wifey smells nice’.
"Si Yu, I’m here." Tang Yue stepped forward, and Si Yu leaned most of his weight on her, reeking of alcohol. He buried his nose in Tang Yue’s neck, sniffed, and smiled, saying, "It’s my wifey, didn’t lie to me."
Tang Yue: "..."
Si Yu, who knew you’d be like this when drunk.
"Zhao Xiangqian, quick, come help get him back to the room." Tang Yue couldn’t support Si Yu alone; he was leaning so heavily against her that she staggered a few steps, and she heard his drunken mumbling: "Wifey, I’m happy."
"Alright, alright, you’re happy, let’s stand steady first." Seeing Zhao Xiangqian approaching, Tang Yue hoped it’d be a bit easier. Who would’ve thought Si Yu would raise his hand and push Zhao Xiangqian away, pointing at him, hands wobbling, saying, "You, mustn’t, touch me, I belong, to my wifey."
Si Yu’s voice was steeped in drunkenness as he held onto Tang Yue tightly, acting as if Zhao Xiangqian touching him would somehow cause trouble.
"Brother Meng, I was just helping you up." Zhao Xiangqian looked at Si Yu innocently, swearing he only admired Brother Meng, liked Sun Qing, and had no other intentions.
"Si Yu." Tang Yue was nearly at her limit and glanced at Zhao Xiangqian, signaling, "Zhao Xiangqian, please help support him; I can’t do it alone. Do you want me to fall?"
"No, can’t let wifey fall, I’ll hold onto wifey." Si Yu actually managed to steady himself, holding onto Tang Yue with both hands tightly, as if she were about to fall.
Tang Yue: "..."
She looked up bewildered at Si Yu’s earnest yet drunken expression. She resisted the urge to push the drunkard away and coaxed him, saying, "Si Yu, if you don’t want help, then let’s go back to the room together, okay?"
"Okay." Si Yu grinned upon hearing ’going back to the room’, leaned down, and kissed Tang Yue, his boozy breath washing over her, carrying an intoxicating scent. Tang Yue was stunned.
"Little sister-in-law, I, um, I’ll head out."
Zhao Xiangqian slipped away, thoughtfully closing the door behind him. He ran back to his car, patting his chest, looking at the closed door of Brother Meng’s house, muttering, "No wonder Brother Meng drinks so little; when drunk, he’s just like a child!"
However, Brother Meng kissing so straightforwardly is totally different from his usual image at the company.
At the company, he’s like the big boss, making everyone grit their teeth in frustration. Even among them, Brother Meng’s cold and taciturn nature made them think he’d end up single forever.
Who knew Si Yu would be the first among the four of them to get married?
Could it be that little sister-in-law was won over by Brother Meng’s approach?
Zhao Xiangqian started his car, driving toward the alley near Jinghua University.
It’s fine to be home late today; he’ll first go see Sun Qing.
He got two boxes of wedding candies today, just right to gift her.
The car couldn’t enter the alley, so he parked outside and walked in. The night’s wind was biting cold. Despite wearing an overcoat, Zhao Xiangqian felt the wind penetrating, thankful there was no snow. Otherwise, the path would be harder to tread.
Zhao Xiangqian glanced around, didn’t knock but climbed over the wall into the courtyard. With plenty of people around, knocking might harm the reputations of the two girls.
"Sun Qing, it’s me." Zhao Xiangqian reached the courtyard, seeing a flicker of light from inside.
"How did you get in?" Sun Qing saw him in an overcoat, opened the door a crack, and let Zhao Xiangqian in.
The place originally a studio had been moved to Jianan Prefecture, leaving this place empty, save for a large table and some scraps.
Sun Qing planned to piece together these scraps to make clothes for Daddy and Mom, not pretty, but lined with a thin layer of cotton inside, quite warm within a coat.
She slept late, hearing noises in the courtyard, thought it might be a brave thief. Upon opening the door, saw it was Zhao Xiangqian.
Sun Qing tossed her wooden stick aside, opened the door wider to the sight of Zhao Xiangqian in the moonlight, wearing a green overcoat, buzz-cut hair, looking lively, his cheeks freezing red.
"Have some hot water, warm yourself up." Sun Qing poured hot tea for him and stoked the fire, asking, "Not using the front door, climbing over the wall in the middle of the night, acting like a thief?"
"Hehe."
Zhao Xiangqian sipped the hot water, warming not just his body but his heart too. He grinned, saying, "I didn’t know if you’d be asleep if I knocked at night. Besides, there are neighbors. What if people find out I’m here late at night? How bad would that look?"
"Why come out this late in such cold?" Sun Qing questioned, though she agreed to try dating Zhao Xiangqian, their relationship remained unchanged.
Today marked his first time visiting her as her partner.
A bit embarrassed, Zhao Xiangqian took two boxes of candies from his pocket, saying, "I came to bring you wedding candies."
Zhao Xiangqian held out two boxes of candy, eyes attentive on her.
