Chapter 984: The Biscuit Snatcher
Chapter 984: Chapter 984: The Biscuit Snatcher
"Mother Shuqing, you’re finally here." Teacher Zhang in the kindergarten, seeing Tang Yue arrive, looked at her as if she were a savior. Excitedly, she looked at Tang Yue; her pair of twin children were well-known to all the teachers at the school.
After all, the two children are so outstanding and extremely adorable. Everyone likes them, but the only headache for the teachers is Meng Shuqing, the younger sister, who is too lively, practically like a tomboy.
Meng Shuqing is obviously a pretty little girl, but when it comes to fighting, she’s more fierce than a boy.
When Meng Shuqing starts a fight, her quiet-looking brother Meng Shulang would defend his sister, in a way not seen in typical five-year-old children.
"Teacher Zhang, did my Shuqing get into another fight?" Seeing Teacher Zhang’s expression, Tang Yue felt a bit of a headache.
"Ahem."
Clearing her throat, Teacher Zhang said, "Actually, it wasn’t Shuqing who started the issue, but Shulang did hurt someone."
Teacher Zhang explained the incident: it started because Meng Shuqing brought a box of bear cookies today. Another child wanted some, but Meng Shuqing shared with the classmates, giving each one a piece. That child wanted more, but Meng Shuqing refused, so the child tried to snatch them.
Unwilling to give in, Meng Shuqing naturally fought back.
Her brother Meng Shulang, seeing his sister being bullied, stepped in and fought with the child. Meng Shulang, who grew up by his uncle Lian Qingyang’s side, was far more agile and quick than ordinary children despite being only five years old.
When Meng Shulang made a move, the child who tried to snatch the cookies was no match at all. Clearly, the child started it, but in the end, was beaten down by Meng Shulang, unable to get up, with a bleeding nose and crying loudly while sitting on the ground.
"Other than a bloody nose, is that child hurt elsewhere?" Tang Yue pressed further.
"So far, nothing else," Teacher Zhang shook her head as she led Tang Yue to the office. They had not yet reached the office when they heard cursing and another teacher attempting to calm the situation.
Tang Yue quickened her pace a bit. As she entered the office, her first glance was towards her two children. Meng Shulang protected his sister, Meng Shuqing, who puffed her cheeks and stared at a woman with her wide, round eyes, saying, "He tried to take my cookies first, and he hit me first."
Meng Shuqing’s crisp voice was firm, showing no fear even when facing an adult.
"It’s just a few cookies. Can my son not eat?" Wu Yuejiao looked at this pretty little girl and then at her own son, crying with snot and tears. She said, "Teacher Xu, the siblings must apologize to my son, and I need to go to the hospital."
"I shared with him, yet he still tried to snatch," Meng Shuqing glared at the crying boy with disdain in her heart; she thought, after all, her brother beat him up, but still, a boy shouldn’t cry like this.
"Mama." Meng Shuqing, still fuming, suddenly saw Tang Yue at the office entrance. Her angry face immediately beamed, and like a butterfly, she threw herself into Tang Yue’s arms, saying, "Mama, he tried to take my cookies and wanted to hit me."
Meng Shuqing pouted as she tattled.
Meng Shulang did not speak, only silently stood by Tang Yue’s side.
Tang Yue examined the children, and seeing them unharmed, she was relieved.
"You little girl, how dare you lie." Listening to Meng Shuqing, Wu Yuejiao became unhappy immediately, pulling her son and saying, "Look, your son hit my son and made his nose bleed."
Next to Wu Yuejiao stood a little boy with his head raised, nostrils stuffed with tissues.
After Wu Yuejiao finished, she looked up and saw Tang Yue holding Meng Shuqing. Mother and daughter looked remarkably alike. Originally, she thought Meng Shuqing was pretty enough, but after seeing Tang Yue, a wave of jealousy arose in Wu Yuejiao’s heart.
"Tongtong’s mother, I’ve already heard from Teacher Zhang what happened," Tang Yue began, only to be sharply interrupted by Wu Yuejiao, "Look at my son; he was beaten and ended with a nosebleed."
Tang Yue’s beautiful eyebrows furrowed slightly as she reminded, "It was Tongtong who tried to take my daughter’s cookies first."
"It’s just a few cookies! Your daughter is so stingy." Wu Yuejiao deliberately raised her hand showing the large gold ring on her finger, and looked at her son, saying, "Tongtong, if you want cookies, mom will buy them for you at home, as much as you want, unlike some people who are so petty."
"I want Meng Shuqing’s cookies. They’re delicious with chocolate," Tongtong licked his lips, even after being nosebleed, still thinking about Meng Shuqing’s cookies.
"You’re not getting any," Meng Shuqing clung tightly to Tang Yue’s neck, her tone indignant as she refused to give Tongtong any.
"I want to eat them," Tongtong said, trying to move forward to grab them.
Wu Yuejiao sharply pulled her son back, dark-faced, feeling utterly embarrassed. She shouted at Tongtong a few times before turning to Tang Yue, saying, "You have to make your children apologize to my son, otherwise, I won’t let this go."
"Tongtong snatched my daughter’s cookies and tried to hit her first. If my daughter hadn’t dodged quickly, she might have fallen to the ground. If anyone needs to apologize, it should be your Tongtong first," Tang Yue, usually gentle, was not one to compromise on principles.
"There’s nothing wrong with my son defending and helping his sister. If your son needs to go to the hospital, I’ll cover the medical expenses," Tang Yue said, glancing at Tongtong, who was crying loudly. Other than a nosebleed, there was no severe injury.
She knew her son well; although Meng Shulang took action, he would never cause Tongtong severe harm.
"Who cares about your medical expenses?" Wu Yuejiao, hearing Tang Yue’s refusal to make the kids apologize, accused her angrily, "It’s just a few cookies; who can’t afford to buy them?"
"A box of cookies costs US$ 50," insisted Meng Shulang, who had been quietly standing by.
Wu Yuejiao, already in a rage, looked incredulously at Meng Shulang. The cookies she’d seen were just a small box with cookie pieces about the size of a thumb.
"At such a young age and already lying," Wu Yuejiao’s first reaction was disbelief.
Teachers at the school were also surprised, especially Teacher Zhang; she had seen Meng Shuqing bring those cookies for sharing.
That meant she shared something worth more than half her monthly salary?
"He’s not lying. The cookies were brought back from country F by their uncle," Tang Yue added.
Wu Yuejiao couldn’t help being awed, looking at Tang Yue, then at the two children, feeling she’d probably messed with the wrong people.
Originally, she planned to mention her husband’s job, but now, she changed her plans, her previously aggressive demeanor softening quickly.
