Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 1000 - 586: Taking Action_2

Chapter 1000: Chapter 586: Taking Action_2

Lianlian’s child is quite stubborn. If in the future she’s dealing with things abroad, it would be a trouble for Luoluo to watch over her. The Qiao Family will remember this favor."

"Uncle Qiao, saying this to me is being too formal. Lianlian is not just my friend, she’s my sister. Her business is my business.

Indeed, her character does have some conflicting tangles. For example, this trip to the United States, I really don’t agree with it. Given Emma’s attitude towards her, there’s really no need for her to show such filial piety.

Especially since she knows those two sisters have always harbored ill intentions towards her. But that girl just stubbornly clings to old affections. Sigh, I really don’t know how to advise her."

"That child has lacked affection since she was little. Just a bit of kindness from others and she remembers it..." Qiao Aimin sighed again, "Lianlian often repeats this phrase to Grandma Qiao, ’we must be grateful and repay kindness.’ Her grandma said, that child, even if others give her a sesame seed-sized kindness, she magnifies it to a watermelon size to repay it."

Thinking of Old Madam Qiao’s health, Luo Ye voiced her concern: "Grandpa Qiao and Grandma Qiao don’t know about this, do they?"

"My mom doesn’t know, but my dad does." Qiao Aimin rubbed his forehead, "This matter needs the embassy’s involvement, he has to take on the responsibility."

"Indeed." Luo Ye stood up, "Uncle Qiao, you have a lot to handle, right? Now that I know where Lianlian is, I can rest assured. The people from the Ye Family, Wen Family, and Wu Family will update me, so you don’t need to worry about me."

"Alright, I’ll take my leave." Qiao Aimin got up hurriedly, rubbing his forehead. "By the way, Ye’er, I need to trouble you with one more thing. When Lianlian comes back, please ask Elder Feng to see if there’s any way to help her hand. Elder Feng is absolutely an expert in this."

"I understand, I will handle it." Luo Ye looked at Qiao Aimin, amused and exasperated, "Uncle Qiao, do I seem that unreliable to you?"

Qiao Aimin smiled apologetically: "Sorry, I was just too anxious."

The next day at 8:30 AM, the final of the Huaxia Cup National College Students’ Debate Competition began.

GF University versus B University, GF University versus Z University, and B University versus Z University competed in three rounds. Z University came in third, and GF University and B University advanced to the ultimate showdown.

At 2:30 PM, the ultimate showdown started.

In a floor-length bright red gown, Lin Meng announced slightly excitedly: "Distinguished leaders, teachers, and students, the most thrilling moment has arrived. Who will be the crowd-anticipated champion? Let’s wait and see.

The focus of this debate is whether college students’ relationships can be advocated so long as they do not affect their studies or must be curbed. Now, let’s welcome the two teams up for this showdown.

First up is the affirmative team from B University, whose stance is that college relationships can be advocated as long as they do not affect studies.

Their debaters are: First debater Li Yuming, a sophomore in B University’s Law Department; second debater Wu Yingzi, a junior in the Chinese Department; third debater Miao Linqi, a senior in the Chinese Department; and fourth debater Yu Aiping, a junior in the English Department.

Now entering the stage is the GF University’s affirmative team, whose stance is that college relationships must be curbed even if they do not affect studies.

Their debaters are: First debater Yu Na, a sophomore in GF University’s Computer Science Department; second debater Zhan Hao, a sophomore in the same department; third debater Luo Ye, also a sophomore in Computer Science; and fourth debater Lu Lu, freshman in the Battle Command Department."

After both teams took the stage, the program continued as before, with verbal sparring leading into free debate time. There wasn’t much issue among debaters, but after the debate ended, bickering started among the judges, specifically between Zhou Aibang and Yi Yuqing.

Both were stubborn, standing their ground on scoring.

The other five professors tried to mediate on the side, but couldn’t persuade either party.

Lin Meng cheerfully raised the microphone: "It seems that my two fellow professionals are still feeling the debate vibes and want to carry on."

"Haha..." The crowd below laughed.

Seeing the teasing didn’t deter them, Lin Meng suggested, "Mr. Zhou and Miss Yi, since you two can’t agree, why not bring the focal point of your dispute out for everyone to evaluate together?"

"Alright!" Yi Yuqing raised her scorecard: "Our argument is centered around the third debater from GF University, Luo Ye. As far as I know, yesterday, Mr. Zhou privately met with Miss Luo Ye, which I find exceedingly unprofessional.

As a judge in this competition, meeting privately with participants before it concludes impinges upon fairness and impartiality.

Therefore, I gave Luo Ye a personal score of 80, which I believe is entirely fair. Moreover, it falls under my scoring freedom, yet Mr. Zhou, after seeing my score, insisted forcefully that I change it to a higher one.

This was absolutely unreasonable, and I strongly suspect Mr. Zhou might have struck some deal with participant Luo Ye!"

"That’s slander!" Zhou Aibang also lifted his scorecard, "I believe everyone must have witnessed Luo Ye’s performance.

The debate topic is unknown to the judges before the match begins; hence, my meeting with her signifies nothing.

Moreover, I wouldn’t hesitate to tell everyone that my production team has chosen Luo Ye. We hope she can co-host with me.

Worried that time would run short for negotiation later, I decided to meet Luo Ye yesterday. However, the result of our meeting was not as we had originally expected.

Luo Ye firmly rejected my proposal, as she views that, as a military academy student, her duty is to steadfastly pursue becoming a soldier, and the spotlight shouldn’t belong to her.

I pose this question to all of you present: if such an opportunity presented itself to you, what would your choice be? Could you, like Luo Ye, clearly discern what you truly want and what you ought to do?"
