Chapter 1536 - 895: Wen Yu
Chapter 1536: Chapter 895: Wen Yu
Old Master Wen’s words are quite interesting, talking about how the older generation is gone and they shouldn’t let the younger generation lose touch. But he only came bringing his two beautiful granddaughters. How is he going to explain this?
"I don’t think there’s any misunderstanding between us. I’m loyal and righteous, but I’m not stupid, big brother. I’ll stick to what I’ve said: if you’re just planning to stay for a few days, you’re welcome. If your intention is to stay long-term, then I’m afraid that’s not possible."
As for whether the younger generation should interact in the future, let them decide themselves. We have no right to interfere at this point, do we?"
Mr. Wen responded with equal sharpness.
"Second brother, aren’t you just saying this out of anger? Big brother has already admitted his past mistakes and wants to make amends, rekindling the connection among the younger ones. Why don’t you believe him?" Old Master Wen spoke with a face full of grievance.
"Big brother..." Mr. Wen chuckled bitterly, "If your purpose here is to settle down permanently, then there’s no need to continue this conversation."
"I really just wanted to bring Xiao Yu and Xiao Xue to get acquainted with the place. Initially, I planned to bring Xiao Jiang, Xiaohe, Xiao Hu, and Xiao Hai (Old Master Wen’s four grandsons), but thinking of bringing so many kids suddenly might cause you to overthink, I opted to bring the two sisters."
Girls are gentle-natured; once they get to know their siblings, I’ll introduce their brothers later. Regardless of our generation’s situation, the younger generation’s relationship shouldn’t be this stiff."
Second brother, mending the pen after the sheep have gone is still not too late. Listen to big brother; in the future, our Wen Family can certainly return to its former glory. When we finally rest six feet under, at least we’ll be at peace with our ancestors."
The more Old Master Wen spoke, the more he got carried away. His arguments became increasingly grandiose, making it seem like Mr. Wen would be disrespectful if he didn’t agree.
At this point, Song Wen, Bai Wen, and the Tong Brothers’ faces turned slightly displeased. This big uncle was being unreasonably shameless.
The younger generation was even more angered, their eyes blazing. Originally, it was Old Master Wen’s doing that forced Grandpa to sever ties with him. Now he has nothing left and hopes soft words will persuade Grandpa to comply; isn’t this wishful thinking?
Grandpa’s attitude has made it clear he doesn’t welcome him, nor does he want to have any further entanglements. Why does he act like he doesn’t understand Chinese? Were it not for family discipline and decorum, they would have spoken up in support of Grandpa long ago.
"Even if I were to go underground now, I believe I’ve been faithful to our ancestors." Mr. Wen frowned and stared at Old Master Wen, "Big brother, can’t you say something practical? What’s the point of this constant churn?"
Since he set foot in the house, he hasn’t been given any face. Isn’t the message clear enough? How long does he plan to play dumb? Mr. Wen is truly defeated by his own big brother.
Old Master Wen sighed deeply, "Alright, I’ll stay a few days and then leave. Second brother, we’re family; why hold a grudge against big brother?"
"I’m not angry." Mr. Wen smiled faintly, "Big brother, think about what you said when I visited Beijing. Now, saying this seems quite laughable to me."
This isn’t about forgiveness; at our age, our words should carry weight and can’t simply be taken back.
"I don’t mind if big brother stays for a few days. I’ve already asked Nanny Zhang to prepare the room. Later, we’ll take a look and anything you need, just let her know."
Old Master Wen’s face changed instantly upon hearing Mr. Wen refer him to Nanny Zhang for any needs, clearly indicating he wasn’t being regarded as a big brother.
Seeing Luo Ye and Ye Xuan enter, Old Master Wen suppressed his anger and forced a smile, "Alright, I’ll mention my needs to Nanny Zhang. Xiao Yu, Xiao Xue, weren’t you always talking about meeting Ye’er sister? Why so restrained now?"
Wen Xue quickly came forward, "Ye’er sister, do you remember me?" Though she spoke to Luo Ye, her gaze never left Ye Xuan.
"Alright, everyone, get on with your own tasks." Mr. Wen waved dismissively, having figured out Old Master Wen’s intentions, letting him hang around for a few days, hoping he might give up eventually.
"Ye’er sister, take me around, okay?" Wen Xue said exaggeratedly, glancing at Ye Xuan, "Is this my brother-in-law? Come along, alright?"
"Let him accompany you." Luo Ye pulled Ye Xuan abruptly and turned, urging Xing Nong, Yaoguang, and others out, "Every one of you, get to the greenhouse to help with the chores."
Sitting silently, Wen Yu quickly joined the larger group, "I’ll go with you."
"Not necessary." Little Pumpkin warned standing in front of Luo Ye protectively, "This is our home; check our strength before attempting any bullying."
"Oh!" Wen Yu laughed aloud, "Wen Nan, do you have to be so tense? Besides, your Sister Ye’er is skilled; even if I wanted to bully her, I couldn’t!"
"Hey, wait for me, didn’t Ye’er say take me around?..."
Wen Xue’s shouting got closer as Luo Ye felt a shadow cover her, a big hand resting on her head, "Are you bad enough not to let me out?"
"Hehe, they came all the way here; how can I be so petty?" Luo Ye knocked off the hand on her head, "If you have the guts, stop them from scheming here."
"I will, but not right now." Ye Xuan glanced at the time, "I need to head back; I’ve got an important meeting I can’t miss."
"Bye bye." Luo Ye waved at him, stepped forward to take Ying Nuo’s arm, "Little sister-in-law, my brother will come over the day after tomorrow, he said he’s coming back to Island City with us, excited?"
Ying Nuo rolled her eyes at her: "Only you know?"
"Yes, how could sister-in-law not know brother’s whereabouts?" Luo Ye sighed dramatically, "Ah, look at me, such a fool, I thought I was the most important in my brother’s heart."
Xing Nong quickly chimed in: "That’s right, you are a bit silly."
Watching the group joking and laughing as they walked away, Ye Xuan’s lips curled into a slight smile, then he turned around and walked towards the parking spot with big steps.
Wen Xue naturally followed him without hesitation.
"Our task is to pick off the dry leaves from these potted little flowers." In the greenhouse, Luo Ye picked up a bonsai and demonstratively removed the dry leaves below, "Having these on top affects the aesthetics and can also impact the plant’s lifespan."
"Luoluo, is there any reward after picking them off?" Xing Nong asked with a grin. Luo Ye slapped her: "Helping out Grandpa and Grandma, isn’t that what we should do? What reward?"
Wen Yu thought for a moment, leaned over to Luo Ye, and whispered: "I’d like to speak with you for a bit, may I?"
Luo Ye glanced at her faintly: "These friends of mine know everything about me." Meaning that she could speak here.
Wen Yu shook her head: "It’s not just about your matters, it’s really inconvenient to talk about it here."
...
Luo Ye took Wen Yu to the greenhouse office, locked the door from the inside, and said: "Speak, it’s absolutely safe here."
"I didn’t pretend not to know you on purpose, rather..." Wen Yu paused, a bitter smile appeared on her face, "I didn’t want you to think that I joined the Female Special Forces Team just to get close to you and use you."
Luo Ye nodded: "Yes, I’ve thought about that. You’re being all mysterious, is this what you wanted to tell me?"
"Not only this." Wen Yu took a deep breath, "I believe you already understand that Grandpa brought Xiao Xue and me here to get close to Ye Xuan."
"That’s right, I’ve figured it out." Luo Ye nodded, her lips curled into a smile, "Therefore, I’m also very cooperative in helping Grandpa with this plan. Whether or not he can ultimately get his wish depends on his luck."
Wen Yu looked at Luo Ye and felt slightly dazed: "You, you’re really not like the Luo Ye I remember."
"What was I like in your memory?"
"Cool, aloof, doesn’t like talking with people, yet can sacrifice herself for her teammates at critical moments. She appears to be a well-protected good girl but can do things that surprise everyone..."
Listening to Wen Yu’s description, Luo Ye felt a strange sensation arise, it seemed like she was talking about her past life? When did Wen Yu ever see that side of her?
Suppressing the shock in her heart, Luo Ye asked: "We’ve only met once, how do I give you such an impression?"
"Ah?" Wen Yu was momentarily stumped and then chuckled lightly, "I once had a long dream, in the dream, you were exactly as I described, so much so that after meeting the real you, I found it difficult to withdraw from the dream. Couldn’t tell which was the real you."
Luo Ye was greatly astonished inside, yet her face showed a calm expression: "You’re quite concerned about me, dreaming about me even."
"Yes, I find it strange too." Wen Yu’s expression became solemn, "Luo Ye, sometimes, dreams shouldn’t be completely ignored.
I sought you out to talk alone in hopes that you can help me save our family. I don’t want the Wen Family to really fall into someone’s hands!"
"Can you be more specific?" Luo Ye’s expression turned serious as well, having spent time with Wen Yu in the team though she doesn’t claim to have a thorough understanding of the other party, she feels that unlike the shallow Wen Xue, Wen Yu surely has a reason for saying this.
She even harbors an inconvenient suspicion, perhaps Wen Yu has a similar fate as she did, but did she perhaps discover something odd about Luo Ye?
