Rebirth of the Heavenly Empress

Chapter 43

Chapter 43: I Have Arrived

The entire scene fell silent.

Condescendingly standing on the stairs, a faint coldness emitted in between her eyebrows. She curled her lips up out of habit, and although she did not have much of an expression on her face, she still looked very intimidating.

The people in the Su Family had instinctively chosen to listen to Su Huiqing.

Within a few days, Su Huiqing’s status in the Su Family had almost surpassed that of Su Lun.

Hence, once Su Huiqing gave her orders, a few of them immediately walked towards Zhang Mingxi and harshly told him to leave the house.

Zhang Mingxi was still a little stunned at first. He could not understand how Su Huiqing, who people would not even try to find if they lost her in a crowd of people, suddenly changed so much.

However, he hit the ceiling in the next second because of the sudden swarm of people charging towards him.

“Su Huiqing, enough is enough! What’s the use of carrying this on?!” Zhang Mingxi tugged on his shirt. Quite irritated, he gave Su Huiqing a disdainful glare. “We will announce the cancellation of our engagement at the press conference the day after tomorrow. I really hope that you won’t back off at the last minute!”

He always thought for a person who had liked him since they were young, it would be impossible to lose feelings so easily.

How could she not like him so suddenly?

“Are you done?” Su Huiqing walked down the stairs one step at a time while she sent a message she had written on her phone beforehand. With the light from the chandelier shining down on her, it slowly revealed her fair and beautiful side-profile to the crowd. There was a striking sharpness imbued in her eyes, too.

Everyone froze, and Zhang Minxi was no exception.

“Why are you still standing there?” Su Huiqing sat on the sofa. After she had thrown her phone onto the coffee table, she raised her head to give them a wicked smile. “Do you still need me to repeat myself?”

She sat on the sofa in silence with her body slightly leaned forward. She placed her hand on the coffee table while she side-eyed a few of the servants.

She even deliberately deepened her voice.

Upon receiving such a glare, those servants did not hesitate further and chased Zhang Mingxi out of the house.

Su Huiqing looked away; she was not willing to even spare him a glance.

“Come here.” She motioned the maids to come over with her fingers.

The maid exchanged looks with one another before nervously standing in a row.

“You, you, you… and you.” Su Huiqing pointed at a few people. “Uncle Chen, calculate their pay for this month. The Su Family doesn’t need these people.”

Although she was just casually pointing at them, Uncle Chen realized that those whom she pointed at were the servants who refused to chase Zhang Mingxi out.

“Fine! If it wasn’t because I have not received my pay for this month, do you really think I would stay?!” A servant removed her apron and left.

Those people who Su Huiqing had pointed to also left. “You guys should also leave while you still can! Or else, forget about getting your pay for the month when the Su Family finally becomes bankrupt!”

A lot of people left all of a sudden, leaving only a few around.

“Missy, I have watched Madam grow up. I will not leave the Su Family even if I don’t get paid,” a granny said, seemingly wanting to cry.

“Old Master saved my life.” The chauffeur chuckled. “How could I leave the Su Family in such dire situations?”

“…”

“I am really thankful that all of you stayed.” Su Huiqing stood up and turned solemn. She calmly said, “Believe me, you guys won’t regret it.”

She stuffed her hands in her pocket and raised her chin.

They could see a hint of laziness and pride in her beautiful face.

Su Huiqing knew that it was about time she fought back. By then, those who had no ounce of loyalty to the Su Family had already left, for example; Shen Zhixing, the various shareholders, and even those practical servants.

“It’s time for…” Su Huiqing flipped her hair and narrowed her pitch-black eyes. “The Su Corporation to make an appearance.”

Between the Zhang Corporation and the Su Corporation, to the public’s eye, the Su Corporation got the shorter end of the stick and its end was just around the corner.

With that said, even if the Su Corporation took extra precautions and came up with a bulletproof plan, they only had two outcomes—they either go bankrupt or get severely damaged.

After all, they were a big corporation. Making a comeback with no sufficient funds was impossible. Not to mention, they still have a few unfinished projects going on.

It was Monday. The remaining few higher-ups of the Su Corporation walked into the meeting room with a grim expression on their faces.

However, Su Ruohua was not sitting at the head of the table because she needed to go to the press conference the Zhang Corporation organized.

Su Zhi looked at the pathetic number of people left in the room. More than half of the shareholders had left.

“President Su, why did you hold a meeting so early in the morning?” Somebody asked.

Su Zhi scanned the room and saw the depressed expression on everyone’s faces. Even though they knew that the Su Corporation was nearing its demise, they still hadn’t left.

He looked at the workers outside. Most of them were young interns, though there were a few senior employees around.

Well, it was a practical and materialistic society. Which businessman wouldn’t care about profits? Only those workers loyal to Su Lun were willing to stay. Some even stayed because they were Su Jiu’s die-hard fans…

But whatever their reason was, they still did not leave the Su Corporation.

Su Zhi suddenly understood why Su Huiqing refused to reveal her cards so early in the game.

She was trying to filter out the ones who would dare not betray the Su Corporation; those who stayed were the comrades whom they could put their faith in this cruel corporate industry.

After a long time, Su Zhi said, “I am not the one who wanted to hold a meeting.”

“Who is it?”

“It’s…”

Before he could answer the question, his phone lit up, and a message popped up on his screen. “I have arrived.” What a simple three words!

His eyes immediately lit up and Su Zhi stood up with a ‘Peng!’

There was so much negative news on the internet nowadays that he doubted his decision. Should he not have agreed to her that easily? After all, she was just a young teenage girl who found out about his secrets.

However, upon seeing those three words, all his doubts and hesitation immediately disappeared.

It was such a decisive three words, and yet, it gave him so much hope. He stood up and said in a trembling voice, “She’s here.”

It was as though someone had interrogated him.

The door to the meeting room opened the moment he said that.

Everyone turned their head and looked towards the door in unison.

With the sunlight shining down on her, a slender figure walked in.

She was still in her school uniform. Her jacket was even loosely zipped up while her free hand grasped her school bag.

She looked towards them and they could see a glimmer of hope in her clear yet pitch-black eyes.
