Ding Haijing sized up Jiang Xiao and saw that nothing seemed wrong with her; in fact she looked full of energy, and he couldn’t help letting out a breath of relief.

"You okay?"

"Of course not." Jiang Xiao frowned, then immediately turned and went into the kitchen. She came back out carrying a bowl of plain congee. "Actually the porridge’s been done for a while; I took the lid off and let it cool a bit. Hurry up and drink a bowl first."

She was worried their bodies and minds hadn’t recovered yet; she had mixed some Spirit Spring Water into the porridge too. Anyway, better to get a bowl in them first, so they wouldn’t be running around busy for half the day with no chance to put anything in their stomachs.

Ding Haijing didn’t bother with anything else, took the bowl of porridge, and said to her, "Go call Guan Tiezhu."

Ding Haijing shook his head. "The key one is Mei Chunhong. Deng Qingjiang only went to Huchuan later, and he’s just been sticking by Mei Chunhong’s side the whole time, not doing anything himself. So to the people above he’s a nobody, easy to deal with."

"But Xiao Chiang, what are you keeping him for?" Guan Tiezhu asked curiously.

Keeping someone like that, it’d be a pain for her to deal with him later.

Seeing Jiang Xiao press her lips together, clearly not wanting to spell it out, Ding Haijing helped her out by saying, "It’s fine. If you want to keep him, then keep him for now. Hearing him say that, Jiang Xiao finally let out a sigh of relief. That worked.

"Then let’s send Mei Chunhong off first."

"Okay. We’ll have Luo Yongsheng come over. Don’t stay home alone with Deng Qingjiang."
