Wei Hongyan’s face flushed with embarrassment upon hearing Yunyi’s words. She knew Yunyi was right. The Ding Family wanted the wedding before the New Year, while her own parents wished for her to celebrate one more New Year at home. Regardless of whether the wedding was before or after the New Year, Yunyi couldn’t possibly take time off. "It’s really a pity that you can’t attend," Wei Hongyan said.
Yunyi smiled, "Don’t worry, even if I’m not there, my blessings will be."
Wei Hongyan thought it was about a wedding gift. "If I don’t see you, are you saying you want to make me pine for you with some keepsake?"
Yunyi couldn’t help but laugh out loud. "Listen to you—if your significant other heard that, he’d definitely get the wrong idea."
Wei Hongyan realized what she’d said and tried to tickle Yunyi, but refrained when she saw Yunyi holding a bowl of glutinous rice balls.
Only then did Yunyi clarify, "Once you’ve set a date, remember to write and let me know. I’ll call to send my best wishes."

Cheng Lanlan stood at their room’s doorstep. "You have an early shift tomorrow. You should let your brother take you home to rest. If it gets any later, you’ll struggle to get out of bed in the morning."
Wei Hongyan knew her brother and sister-in-law meant well. "I know, sis, I’m heading back now."
After saying goodbye to Yunyi, the siblings bantered as they left the yard.
Cheng Lanlan called out to Yunyi, "There’s hot water warming in the kitchen pot. Go wash up, and get some rest early."
Although Yunyi could freshen up in her space, she still appreciated the gesture and thanked her with a smile, "Thanks, sis."
She fetched a basin of water to her room and washed her socks. She then poured out the dirty water and cleaned the basin. After returning to her room, she secured the doors and windows, turned off the lights, and entered her space.
