Chapter 777: Disliked Without Even Knowing It
Chapter 777: Chapter 777: Disliked Without Even Knowing It
At the back, although Huo Shanhe felt his sons had a point, was this really the right time to say such things?
He couldn’t help but reprimand them softly, "Seems like you’re not tired enough, should I find you more tasks?"
Upon hearing this, none of them dared to tease any further and quickly made their escape.
Soon enough, just as Huo Jingrui had expected, a neighbor brought their child over asking for wedding candies.
Hearing the commotion at the gate, Huo Jingrui quickly drew open the curtain and, seeing that Yunyi was ready, opened the door.
Very soon, a woman holding a child came over: "Congratulations, Vice Factory Director Huo and Doctor Chu, may you have a son soon."
Huo Jingrui nodded in thanks, while Yunyi held a tray, handing out the wedding candies.
The flow of people didn’t cease throughout the afternoon.
If not for stealing a moment to retreat into space for a bath, it would have been exhausting.
When night finally fell, the yard grew quiet.
At this moment, Jiang Jingya returned with Huo Jiayuan.
Smelling the aroma from the kitchen, Huo Jiayuan ran inside, seeing Second Brother and Third Brother with their sleeves rolled up, busy cooking: "Didn’t we agree, you’d try my cooking?"
Huo Qianjin laughed, "Little Sis, you’ve been busy all day. Take a rest today, we’ll try your dishes tomorrow."
They were truly worried she might take after Auntie Jiang. Today was the great day for Fourth Brother and Fourth Sister-in-law; they dared not leave the kitchen to Little Sis.
Huo Jiayuan didn’t think much of it, smiling: "Alright, tomorrow you’ll get to see my culinary skills, you’ll be impressed."
Standing at the kitchen door, Jiang Jingya took a look at her daughter: Oblivious despite being lightly rejected by Second and Third Brother.
Yet, she wouldn’t mention it.
Huo Shanhe noticed the absence of Ye Family members from behind, "Jingya, where are the in-laws?"
Jiang Jingya quickly explained, "They won’t be coming; saying Yunyi’s side has rice and noodles, vegetables, and meat. They said they’ll cook for themselves."
Huo Shanhe understood their thinking and didn’t insist, "Alright then."
While they spoke, in the kitchen Huo Qianjin had already finished the last dish: "Dad, Auntie Jiang, dinner is ready."
After speaking, he glanced at his sister who was arranging the dishes, "Little Sis, go call your Fourth Brother and Fourth Sister-in-law for dinner."
Upon being given the task, Huo Jiayuan smiled, turned, and headed out, "Okay."
She ran to the door of the newlyweds’ room: "Fourth Brother, Fourth Sister-in-law, dinner is ready."
Yunyi heard her voice, "Jiayuan, come in for a moment."
Seeing her come in, Yunyi took out a sweater she had previously knitted, "Jiayuan, this is a sweater I knitted for you. Thank you for all the help with our wedding plans these days."
She had finished it earlier but hadn’t given it out yet.
Huo Jiayuan looked at the patterns on the sweater, full of delight, "Fourth Sister-in-law, you knitted this? It’s so beautiful."
Remembering something, "Fourth Sister-in-law, when did you knit it? I really like it."
Seeing Jiayuan liked it, Yunyi smiled, "I started knitting when it got cooler, but there was a lot to do, so it took quite some time. Luckily, I finished it a few days ago."
Huo Jingrui heard Third Brother’s calling from outside, "Little Sis, first put the sweater back in your room, it’s time to eat."
Huo Jiayuan thanked Yunyi again, then took the sweater to her room.
She thought about leaving with her parents for Beijing tomorrow, and couldn’t help feeling reluctant.
The past few months here had been truly joyful.
She and Fourth Sister-in-law got along so well. Leaving was indeed difficult.
