Chapter 846: Moving Out
Chapter 846: Chapter 846: Moving Out
Huo Jingrui gave her a reassuring look: "Don’t worry, we’ll make sure they’re satisfied."
The ingredients were prepared yesterday; a big pot of eight-treasure porridge was simmered, and dough with mixed flour was left to rise, part of it for steamed buns and part for twisted rolls.
You ask why not make pure white flour ones, well, to keep it low-profile. This mixed flour is seventy percent white flour and thirty percent cornmeal; it’s quite tasty.
Yunyi finished washing and packed the things she and Huo Jingrui needed to take. Just as she stepped out of the yard, she heard someone knocking on the front door.
Busy in the kitchen, Huo Jingrui also came out upon hearing the commotion and opened the door before Yunyi: "You all sure come early."
The person, seeing Huo Jingrui, grinned broadly: "Comrade Huo, we meet again."
Huo Jingrui smiled and invited them in: "Come on in."
He then addressed the man behind: "Really appreciate your help this time."
Both said at the same time: "No trouble at all, it’s on the way."
Huo Jingrui turned to Yunyi in the yard: "Yi’er, this is Brother Li, the driver, and behind him is Brother Tian, in charge of overseeing the vehicle."
Yunyi quickly welcomed the two warmly into the living room.
Then she let Huo Jingrui handle the greeting while she went to the kitchen and brought out a large pot of eight-treasure porridge: "Two brothers, have something hot before we get busy."
Seeing the breakfast Yunyi brought, their smiles became even more sincere.
Huo Jingrui placed the thick and fragrant eight-treasure porridge: "There’s more in the kitchen, help yourselves."
After serving the two brothers, he also served Yunyi a bowl: "Yi’er, sit down and eat too."
Yunyi didn’t make a fuss, knowing that after breakfast the two brothers were going to hit the road, and they had to catch a train.
The two brothers were worried it might snow and ate rather hurriedly.
Huo Jingrui spoke up: "Brothers, I’ve arranged people to come help move things yesterday; it shouldn’t take long, no need to rush."
Just as he finished, he heard others arriving in the yard.
Huo Jingrui quickly stood up: "You guys keep eating, I’ll handle the arrangements."
He stepped outside and called everyone to come inside and move things onto the large Dongfeng truck.
Over there, the two brothers and Yunyi finished eating, while with more manpower the stuff was quickly loaded onto the truck. They covered it with a pre-prepared straw mat, tied it securely, and also covered it with a tarpaulin, tightly fastened, then they were done.
Huo Jingrui handed the written address to the driver, Brother Li, and gave them food he’d prepared in advance: "Brother Li, Brother Tian, thank you so much. Please take this food with you; don’t refuse it, it’s our gesture."
The two brothers, being straightforward people, thanked them and swiftly got into the truck.
They watched as the truck left the compound, Yunyi and Huo Jingrui finally looked away.
Huo Jingrui spread a cigarette while offering his thanks: "Thank you all so much for today."
Everyone took a cigarette: "It was nothing, doesn’t deserve the thanks."
Just thinking Vice Factory Director Huo was leaving, who had contributed to the factory, everyone felt a sense of reluctance.
Huo Jingrui saw that time was getting late, and he should take Yunyi to catch the train: "There’s no feast that doesn’t eventually end. Welcome to visit Beijing, you’ll find my address at the factory then."
After exchanging a few more pleasantries, Huo Jingrui brought out the remaining suitcase and bag, prepared to wait for the factory’s jeep outside the compound.
Just as he locked the door, someone said, "The car’s here."
