Chapter 1144 - 1124
Chapter 1144: Chapter 1124
On the way home, Old Master Feng and Fang Su didn’t exchange a single word. It wasn’t until they walked into the house and sat down in the living room that Old Master Feng finally couldn’t hold back any longer, slapping his palm onto the coffee table.
Fang Su was startled, her heart tightening as she tried to remain calm and asked, "What are you doing?"
"I should be asking you what you’re doing?!"
Old Master Feng’s expression was furious: "I’ve advised you more than once to treat Leilei better, not to say unnecessary things in front of the child, and definitely not to give her cold looks. How have you responded? You not only openly express your disdain but it’s written all over your face. Since you dislike the child so much, why did you decide to acknowledge her as your daughter?"
"What if I’ve gone crazy?" Fang Su’s eyes turned red, her face full of sorrow as she said, "I am strict with her for her own good; she misunderstands my intentions, insists on going against me, and even... even went missing on me. She simply has no heart!"
Old Master Feng’s gaze was scrutinizing: "Do you even care about your own children at all? First, it was Feng Yi—you neglected him since he was young, and when he grew up, you kicked him out of the house. And now... now you’ve driven your daughter to disappear without a trace. Have you ever thought about your own faults?"
"I neglected Feng Yi, but weren’t you the same? I did tell him to leave the house, but it was just words said out of anger. Who would’ve thought he’d take it so seriously and never come back?!"
Fang Su would never think she was wrong, nor would she reflect on her own issues. She wiped away the tears at the corner of her eyes and said:
"And Leilei, can’t you see? Whether it’s her clothes or her demeanor, what about her can be shown off? If it wasn’t for the hope of arranging a good marriage for her, would I point out her flaws and force her to learn things?
She’s over twenty years old now. In our courtyard, is there any girl her age who’s not married? You might not be anxious, but I am. After all, I’m her mother; I can’t let her become a lifelong spinster."
Upon hearing this, Old Master Feng looked steadily at Fang Su, his expression gradually becoming complex as he asked, "Did Comrade Hao Jian ever bring Lawyer Wang, who returned from abroad, to the house to see you?"
Fang Su wanted to shake her head, but under Old Master Feng’s gaze, she hesitated for a long time without responding.
"And why did Lawyer Wang come to see you? Don’t you intend to explain?"
Old Master Feng’s tone was emotionless. Before Fang Su could speak, he observed her changing expression and spoke again: "Just a few days after you met Lawyer Wang, you suddenly claimed that the little nanny at home was your long-lost daughter. Isn’t that quite a coincidence?"
"What exactly are you trying to say?"
Fang Su felt uneasy, clasping her hands tightly together, and looked straight at Old Master Feng as she said, "Are you suspecting that I’m randomly acknowledging daughters? What am I trying to gain by doing this?"
"Don’t you know yourself?"
Old Master Feng retorted.
"I don’t know, if you know, just tell me!"
When Old Master Feng mentioned Hao Jian bringing Wang Fei into the house, no matter what Fang Su wanted to say, it was destined to be futile.
But Fang Su clearly wasn’t ready to give up, reluctant to expose her true intentions.
"Comrade Hao Jian did come to see me. Do I need to clarify further?" Old Master Feng originally didn’t want to dredge up old and messy matters, but Fang Su’s behavior ever since acknowledging her "daughter" made it unbearable to him, forcing him to think more deeply.
Fang Su still resisted:
