Chapter 986 - 983
Chapter 986: Chapter 983
In the main room, Captain Cui was invited by Captain Kang to sit by the stove for a while. He looked up at Kang Li and spoke of the decision his family had made.
Kang Li nodded, indicating she understood, and then Captain Cui continued, "Ever since I mentioned going to Hu City, Xiao Kui’s mind seems to have cleared a bit. She hasn’t run to the village entrance these days and stays at home taking care of the two kids. I finally see that the old saying about heart disease requiring a cure of the heart is indeed true."
"That makes sense." Kang Li smiled, "It’s like ’Only the one who tied the bell can untie it.’"
Captain Cui: "Studying more books is good, not only does it teach you the principles, but you also learn a lot." He sighed deeply, "My Xiao Kui also graduated high school, but to give that ungrateful person peace to study, she’s been washing clothes, cooking meals, and looking after the two kids. She missed last winter’s college entrance exam."
Kang Li: "She can take the summer college entrance exam this year."
Upon hearing this, Captain Cui shook his head, "With two kids holding her back, even if Xiao Kui recovers mentally, it’s hard for her to take the exam!"
"If she truly wishes to take the exam, nothing is impossible." Hearing Kang Li’s words, Captain Cui was slightly taken aback, then nodded, "You’re right! Where there’s a will, there’s a way. I’ll go back and discuss it well with Xiao Kui."
Approximately twenty to thirty minutes later, Captain Cui stood up to take his leave.
"Older Brother Kang, I’ll be heading back. You and your niece should go back inside!"
At the courtyard gate, Captain Cui waved to Captain Kang and Kang Li, then retracted his gaze and walked away.
"Mom, you really don’t want to go visit Hu City?"
Before bed at night, Kang Li was kept by Cai Xiufen to chat. Hearing her mother mention that she wouldn’t be going with the family to Hu City tomorrow but would directly go to North City with her brother and nephews Yangyang and Chenchen, Kang Li was taken aback.
"It’s so cold, I don’t want to bother. Besides, if I go with your brother first to the courtyard, I can help tidy up the place ahead of time. When you and Yanqing return with the kids, it’ll be nice and warm inside."
Cai Xiufen said this and urged Kang Li, "Go back to your room and rest. You have to get up early tomorrow."
Kang Li: "When the weather warms up, or maybe in autumn, I’ll take you to Hu City for a proper tour?"
"Sure!"
Cai Xiufen responded with a loving smile.
"Have Dad and Mom gone to rest?"
Listening to Kang Li’s footsteps as she came into the room, Luo Yanqing glanced up and placed the book he was holding next to the pillow.
Kang Li first responded with a voice of affirmation.
"Are you reluctant to leave?"
Lying in the bed, Luo Yanqing hadn’t heard Kang Li speak for a while and couldn’t help asking.
"Not really."
Leaving doesn’t mean never coming back, she truly didn’t have any feelings of farewell.
"Then why do I sense something’s off with your mood?" Luo Yanqing’s gentle voice reached Kang Li’s ears as he embraced her. Upon hearing it, Kang Li said, "I’m fine! But my mom’s not coming with us to Hu City tomorrow. She plans to go directly to North City with my brother and Yangyang."
Luo Yanqing: "Mom doesn’t want the hassle."
"You hit the nail on the head. Mom says it’s too cold, she doesn’t want to travel back and forth between Hu City and North City. Plus, she wants to arrive at the courtyard early with my brother and help tidy up the place, warm up the stove, so when we return home, it’ll be nice and warm as soon as we walk in."
"Mom is so good to you!"
"Isn’t she good to you?"
