Chapter 1204: The Sly Handoff ( 1204 )

Meanwhile.

Outside the courtyard.

Javier sat on one of the benches, looking up at the sky as the last hues of sunset faded into twilight. He let out a long exhale, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees, shoulders slumped in exhaustion.

He glanced down at the ground.

The surgery is finished... but I don’t know if she’ll be able to survive or wake up yet.

Let’s hope everything went well.

I’ve done all I can, and now... I just have to trust in fate.

He glanced up toward the darkening sky. The Mathrias manor was now lit up with mana lamps, and the operation building glowed brightly with advanced mana lights.

His stomach growled.

He glanced around and noticed from a distance that Buddy was resting on the ground near the building, with the huge golden Pekko, Giddie, nearby.

Ah... looks like Buddy is being scolded by his father, huh?

Javier chuckled softly before shaking his head.

I wonder if Buddy has eaten yet?

He glanced at Giddie’s already bulging stomach and noticed Buddy’s belly was also full and round.

I guess he already ate his fill... probably raided the estate’s pantry again.

He noticed the operation building’s main door open, and Liana stepped out gracefully, still wearing her scrubs.

She moved with an elegant sway, her steps light and fluid, the fabric of her scrubs hugging her curves in a way that drew his gaze.

She slowly removed her cap, letting her silver hair cascade down her shoulders, gently pulled off her mask, revealing her soft lips and beautiful face.

Javier’s eyes widened, stunned by her ethereal beauty.

Liana stopped in front of Javier when she noticed he was staring, leaning down slightly, tuck her hair behind her ear and smile warmly.

"Young Master?"

Javier snapped out of his daze. "Y... yes, Liana?"

"What’s wrong? Is there anything troubling you?" Liana asked with a pure, gentle smile, her eyes gleaming with concern. "I noticed you looked... lost in thought."

"Ah... nothing, Liana," Javier smiled, meeting her eyes. "I was just seeing how beautiful you are tonight."

Liana chuckled softly the moment she heard Javier’s stomach growl.

"Now, now, Young Master~" Liana smiled. "Looks like you’re hungry. I believe Gloria and the others have already cooked something for us. I bet they’re waiting for you~" She said while reaching for Javier’s hand and gently pulling him up.

Javier smiled. "You know I still can’t rest right now, right?"

Liana smiled again. "No... I believe you can rest now~"

"What do you mean?" Javier tilted his head, confused.

Liana hugged him tightly. "Because... the patient is awake."

"Really?" Javier looked at her, his expression one of disbelief and relief.

"Mm... If you don’t believe me, you can contact Myra and ask her yourself~" Liana leaned up and whispered into his ear while still hugging him.

Javier exhaled and smiled in relief. "Thank God."

"Now, let’s go to the next building and rest. I’m sure if anything happens, Myra and the others will contact you through the mana talkie. Besides, it’s not that far, it’s just next to the operation building."

"Mm..." Javier nodded and began to walk slowly as Liana gently pulled him along, holding his hand as they walked toward the building. She smiled softly, mumbling to herself.

"Everything went well... I guess you’re happy right now, aren’t you, Young Master?"

Javier glanced at her. "Mm? Did you say something, Liana?"

Liana glanced over her shoulder while still holding his hand and smiled softly.

"Nothing, Young Master... nothing~"

"Really?" Javier narrowed his eyes, letting Liana pull his hand.

"Yes... really, Young Master~" Liana chuckled softly.

Javier noticed she paused and glanced at her. "Liana?"

"Ah~ Now that you mention it..." Liana gave him a sly look over her shoulder, her eyes twinkling mischievously. "I guess you should prepare~"

"Huh?" Javier tilted his head, confused. "Prepare for what?"

"Well..." Liana smiled. "Someone is sulking right now~ I bet she’s already fuming~"

"Hmm? Who?" Javier scratched his cheek while his other hand still held Liana’s delicate hand.

"Your second wife~" Liana pulled him quickly, walking straight toward the main door of the building.

"Ehhhh!? Wait, wait... Liana!"

"No can do, Young Master~ You’re on your own~" Liana chuckled softly and smirked, opening the main door without giving Javier any chance to run.

Javier paused and saw Gloria already standing there, arms crossed, lips pursed. She tapped her heel while giving him a sharp glare.

"Ah... Gloria..."

Gloria smiled, though her expression still held a hint of irritation. She raised her palm toward her lips.

"Ara~ Young Master~ Did you enjoy your time with liaaaannnaaaa~? Hmm?"

"Ah... Gloria... it’s not what you think..." Javier rubbed the back of his head while glancing to the side toward Liana.

Liana just smiled and walked away gracefully, leaving Javier with Gloria.

"Liana..." Javier mumbled in disbelief and noticed Liana gave him a graceful wave over her shoulder as she walked past Gloria.

"Ara~ Here it is again. L.i.a.n.a~ again~ right, Young Master?" Gloria gave him a sharp, questioning look.

Javier swallowed hard.

Think fast, Javier!

This is Gloria. You’ve known her for a long time.

Find something to say, something to calm her down.

Javier exhaled and smiled, slowly moving forward to hug her.

"Gloriaaaa~ I’m hungry~"

Gloria still crossed her arms, lips pursed, glancing away. "Hmmph! Ask your Liana to cook for you. Since you always look for her."

Javier tightened his hug while his other hand caressed her back before slowly moving toward her butt.

"Gloriaaaa~ I’m tired."

Gloria swatted away his hand from her butt before Javier started caressing her waist.

"Don’t care. Ask Liana."

Javier smiled softly and gave her a kiss on her cheek before his hand started groping her breast and fondling it.

Gloria huffed, trying to remove Javier’s hand from her breast but paused when Javier whispered to her.

"I’m sorry, Gloria. It’s not like I didn’t want to call you, but I was so focused on the surgery. Liana was just helping me with the operation."

"Hmmph!" Gloria turned her face away while Javier still fondled her breast.

"Please don’t sulk like that. My fault, okay? Mm?"

"You always call Liana for everything!" she hissed, still turning her face away and crossing her arms after swatting Javier’s hand away from her breast. "I can also help with the surgery, you know!"

Javier reached for her, gently cupping her face and turning it to look into her eyes, smiling softly. "I know. But Liana has specific skills that were needed for this operation. It wasn’t about choosing her over you, it was about what the situation required."
