Chapter 1624: Warmth, Worry, and Wyvern Steak ( 1624 )

Liana channeled her mana and tapped the mana talkie in her ear.

"Young Master~?"

A crackle hissed through the small device before Javier’s voice came through, loud and clear.

"Mm~? Yes, Liana?"

Liana smiled softly.

"You still busy with your work?"

"Kinda... why?"

Liana glanced at her co-wives and smiled softly.

"Nothing... just want to know." She lowered her voice into a hush. "Have you eaten?"

A low laugh drifted through the mana talkie.

"Still cooking~ I’ll eat once the cooking is done~"

Liana’s eyes softened.

"Do you want us to come there after the gathering ends?"

Javier’s voice came through casual and warm.

"Nah, it’s up to you. If you want to stay with your family, then stay. There’s no need to rush back."

Liana smiled, her eyes drifting toward Mimi, who was still playing with the children. Buddy sat on the floor nearby, watching them with half-lidded eyes.

"If you don’t mind, Young Master... can I and the girls spend tonight with our families? Just for tonight."

A soft sizzle crackled through the mana talkie before Javier’s voice returned.

"Mm. Don’t worry, Liana. Just stay and spend your time with them."

He paused, then continued.

"What about Gracelle and Celine?"

Liana tucked a strand of silver hair behind her ear and scooped a spoonful of dessert from her plate, eating it slowly.

"We’ll be sleeping at the villa together."

There was a soft clink of a plate being set on a table before Javier’s voice came again.

"Okay~ If you want to come here, just come. But I’ll be focusing on my invention, so I might not be much company~"

Liana spun her small spoon slowly in her dessert, her eyes fixed on it, her smile soft.

"Mm~" She paused. "Don’t forget to eat. And make sure to sleep before it gets too late."

Javier laughed softly through the mana talkie.

"I know, Liana~ Don’t worry~"

Liana’s lips curled.

"Enjoy your meal, Young Master."

She paused, her voice dropping into something softer, more delicate.

"I’m sorry we can’t be there to tend to it tonight. We’ll make up for it tomorrow."

A warm, amused laugh crackled through the mana talkie.

"Sheesh~ It’s just one day, Liana. I’ll survive."

He paused, his voice turning playful.

"Besides, tomorrow I’ll have my revenge. I’ll eat all of you~"

Liana smiled, her cheeks flushing faintly.

"I don’t mind~"

Then his tone shifted.

"Say, Liana. Could you call Buddy over? I want to say something to him."

Liana glanced toward Buddy.

"Okay, Young Master~ In a minute."

Liana rose gracefully and walked toward Buddy. Buddy turned his head, noticing someone approaching.

"Buddy?"

"Cuquawked?" (What now, elf witch?)

"Young Master wants to talk to you~"

Liana took out her mana talkie, tapped it, and extended it toward Buddy. Buddy leaned his head to the side, and Liana pressed the device gently against his ear.

"Cuquawked?" (What is it, Master?)

A crackle of static, then Javier’s voice came through.

"Oh, Buddy? Can you stay with my girls tonight? They’ll be sleeping at the villa, and I was hoping you could stand watch outside for me. Keep an eye on them. Make sure nothing happens."

"Cuquawked... Cuquawked~" (Sure... but make sure I get a reward with premium wyvern meat steak~ And Liana’s special sauce~)

Javier laughed through the mana talkie.

"Okay. But you should ask Liana about the sauce. I can’t promise you that one."

Buddy smirked, his eyes half-lidded toward Liana, and let out a soft, long squawk.

"Cuquawkeddd~" (Okay, Masterrr~)

Liana shook her head with a smile, watching Buddy keep his half-lidded stare and that annoying smirk on his beak. She put the mana talkie back to her ear.

"What kind of invention are you working on tonight, Young Master?"

Javier’s voice came through, casual but with a thread of excitement running beneath it.

"Something useful for later. Something that’ll make a difference when it matters. I’ve been working on the design for a few hours now. If it works the way I think it will, it’ll give me an edge when I need it most."

Liana turned and walked back toward the table, her silver hair swaying gently behind her, her hips moving with that quiet, graceful rhythm. The hall remained busy around her, music drifting, couples dancing, laughter and conversation everywhere.

She murmured softly into the mana talkie.

"Don’t overwork yourself, Young Master. Please make sure to rest and sleep properly. Work can always continue tomorrow. But rest is more important. Your body needs it, and so does your mind. If you collapse from exhaustion, no invention in the world will be worth it."

Javier chuckled again.

"I know, Liana. Don’t worry. Alright, gotta go. The food is ready."

"Mm~ Okay, Young Master."

The line cut with a soft click.

Liana lowered the mana talkie from her ear and was about to sit down when she noticed Gloria walking toward her, with Genevieve draped across her back, sleeping, her arms loosely around Gloria’s shoulders, her head resting against her daughter’s hair.

Liana raised her knuckle to her lips and stifled a laugh.

Gloria narrowed her eyes at her.

"What?"

Liana smiled sweetly.

"I didn’t know you have a teenage daughter, Gloria~"

Gloria rolled her eyes and let out a low grumble.

Celine pulled a chair over for her, and Gloria nodded with a smile.

"Thank you, Celine."

Celine hurried back to Gracelle and Lyzia, who were still being taught by Felicia about the mana phone’s functions. Felicia’s tail swayed gently behind her as she pointed at the screen.

Gloria settled into the chair, adjusting her hold on her mother.

Liana shook her head and murmured, watching Genevieve hug Gloria even tighter when Gloria shifted her grip. Genevieve mumbled something in her sleep and nuzzled against her daughter’s chest.

"Why not tell your father that his wife is asleep?"

Gloria pointed with her lips toward her father, who was laughing with Garius, Lioness, Veldrac, and several high-ranking officers.

"He looks like he’s having fun."

Liana lifted her glass and took a slow sip before setting it down.

"At least you should inform him, Gloria. His wife is asleep in your arms."
