Chapter 1423: Goals and alliances
Chapter 1423: Goals and alliances
Euthenia Hepheasteus, a very stout and muscular woman, took one look at the flat automobile the Reborn company had brought out and immediately widened her eyes.
Her Aubility Power allowed her to see the internal workings and the physics of a certain structure. It’s what made her become such a good blacksmith. She could see the effects of a certain design choice just from looking at something.
And at the moment she laid her eyes on the F1 car of Reborn, she immediately came upon a realization.
"Of course! Why didn’t I think of that before?!"
She immediately saw how the design of the Rebornian car was made specifically for top speed. All of its frame and structure was made so that the car was suctioned into the ground whenever it was running at top speed.
Meaning, the more that it accelerated, the more it was getting pushed to the ground and therefore increasing its acceleration as well.
It was such a perfect design that Euthenia couldn’t believe she hadn’t thought of it before.
"In a battle of pure speed, then the Reborn company will probably win this whole race," she muttered to herself. "But they made a mistake when making this event. They neglected to enforce a rule that prohibited the others from using their Aubility Powers."
She, and perhaps the rest of the engineers who participated in this race were not confident in their automobiles. But what they were confident about was their Aubility Powers.
They had Nascent Spirit cultivators who imbued their cars with Influence in order to make them transcend reality itself. Even Reborn’s insane engineering feats could compete with that.
And Michael may be the youngest Nascent Spirit cultivator, but he was still a middling young sprout compared to the veterans in the Conglomerate sphere.
"Still, it is impressive the kinds of smithing that they have done. I would like to meet with their chief of staff as soon as possible," she muttered under her breath. "But first things first..."
She looked towards their neighboring garage. "I wanted to participate in this race because I wanted to prove myself superior against my brother," she said to her employees. "Make sure that we win this race. No matter the cost."
Every single blacksmith and engineer under Euthenia’s company steeled their hearts.
Everyone knew about Eric and Euthenia’s rivalry. Both were front-runners to inherit the Hephaestus Conglomerate. And both were tied in ranking. If one of them ever fell to obscurity, then the other would surely become the ultimate winner of the succession.
And Euthenia knew that this could be the chance she needed to finally surpass her brother. If she won this race, it would cement her company as the premier place for automobiles.
Automobiles were starting to take control over every aspect of the market. It was only a matter of time until cars became a staple in every single corner of the Royal Continent and the world at large.
If she took charge at this moment, it would bolster her and the Hepheasteus company to the top!
It was very apt too. Automobiles were works of metal. And who better to control the market of automobiles than the Hepheasteus Conglomerate, which would then be led by Euthenia herself?
...
...
...
Erich Hephaesteus sat in his garage, fiddling with a wrench as he waited for his allies.
Then, a few seconds later, someone knocked on the door. It opened, revealing a group of delicate men and women wearing strange, leafy get-ups.
Erich felt that the people of Sinclair’s Elixir were too dainty. They were too clean. It’s as if they hadn’t experienced having gunk and oil being stuck under their nails. And if you haven’t experienced that, then have you experienced life and happiness at all?
"Make yourselves at home," Erich said to his guests.
However, the people of the Sinclair’s Elixir Conglomerate chose to stand instead. They didn’t have anywhere appropriate to sit on, after all. There was nothing but scrap metal all around the garage. Very unhygienic for people like them.
"Let us get to the point," said a young woman with green hair. She seemed to be the leader amongst the group. "You know who I am don’t you?"
Erich smiled. "Of course. Miss Synthe. The current 2nd ranked heir of Sinclair’s Elixir."
Synthe nodded. "And I know about you too. Erich Hepheasteus. The back-up heir."
Hearing such insults, Erich frowned. "I do not like being insulted."
"My apologies," said Synthe. "I only aim to tell the truth. You are a back-up to your sister, are you not?"
However much he didn’t want to admit it, Synthe was right. By all accounts, his sister was the one that the Hepheasteus Conglomerate was considering to be the front runner for the succession. Technically, they were tied for first. But Erich could tell that she was being favored by the old leaders more. She just needed one more thing to prove herself before she eventually usurped his place and made herself as the true heir of the Hepheasteus line.
"So? What if I am?" Erich grumbled.
"Then it means that we have something in common," said Synthe. "I also wish to defeat someone. I believe that we can work together to achieve that."
Erich’s bushy eyebrows raised. "I’m interested. Tell me more."
"You have the technical know-how to replicate the automobiles. But we all know that this race has something more than the physical aspect of the cars. It’s also the driver and the Aubility Powers they use.
And as you may or may not know, us apothecaries have our own ways in order to boost or enhance a cultivator’s power through pills and herbs.
I am proposing a temporary alliance between our two companies. I sponsor you with all of the pills that you’ll need, and in return, you win the race and credit us in your victory."
The stout man thought about it for a second, before tilting his head. "We have our own pills. What would I need yours for?"
Synthe smiled. "Ours are more special. I guarantee it."
