Chapter 1224: Hurry, Don’t Let Them Get Away
Chapter 1224: Chapter 1224: Hurry, Don’t Let Them Get Away
The reason Mr. Gu said that was because he knew Xinyan was a child who valued feelings, and would never shortchange any of her relatives.
Everything that just happened had already proved that this treasure probably wasn’t some ancestral heirloom of the Gu Family, but something their ancestor got by fortuitous chance, otherwise how come he, as a Gu Family descendant, couldn’t get in.
Since it was Yanyan who opened it by a stroke of fortune, then it belonged to Yanyan, and the fewer people who knew about such a heaven-defying opportunity, the better.
After the two of them discussed the schedule for tomorrow, Xinyan went back to her own room.
She shut the door, drew the curtains, turned off the light, and went straight into the space.
She wanted to see how big that patch of forest had become after the space fused.
As soon as she entered the space she saw that pasture, and thinking that once she came down from the mountain tomorrow, she could go around the nearby villages to see if she could buy some poultry chicks to send into the pasture inside the space.
Thinking about the plans to come, she headed up the slope—no, she couldn’t call it a slope anymore, it should be called a mountain, since that slope now happened to be right at the foot of the mountain.
All the way up, she found there really were quite a lot of different kinds of trees in this forest, but apart from the rabbits she had previously put on the slope herself, there were no traces of other animals moving about; looked like if she wanted anything, she’d have to rely on herself.
She walked around for a long time before finally coming out of the forest, and found that the forest wasn’t actually that big, probably only forty or fifty mu or so, though she did discover quite a few rare tree species.
Thinking that she still had to collect the treasure tomorrow, she didn’t do anything else. She really did need to calm down now—who would have thought this space would actually have another half, and that she would, by a twist of fate, end up getting it all.
She had a good soak in the hot spring behind the house, then exited the space and went to sleep.
On the other side, He Jinxuan had already led the convoy safely to the designated delivery location.
The person receiving them said apologetically, "It’s too late, I’m afraid we can’t unload the goods today. Everyone, eat first and get some rest. As soon as work starts tomorrow, I’ll arrange for the unloading and warehousing."
The convoy people naturally understood, and after parking the trucks properly, they all jumped down.
Someone spoke up, "Captain He, we clearly had plenty of time, but you still insisted on arriving a day and a half early. You’ve worn the brothers out; you’ve got to treat everyone."
There was fatigue on He Jinxuan’s face as well. Hearing that, he said, "Alright, once we finish unloading tomorrow, I’ll treat everyone to hotpot out of my own pocket."
Someone chimed in, "You said it. Brothers, tomorrow we’ve got to properly fleece the captain."
For a while, it was all cheers and jeers.
He Jinxuan checked the time, thinking that after unloading tomorrow, he’d go find his wife.
For this trip, he could stay over here for three days. He just wanted to be a bit closer to his wife, afraid that if something happened to her, he wouldn’t be able to get to her side right away.
He didn’t know why, but he just felt vaguely uneasy.
Early the next morning, Xinyan got herself ready and went out to buy breakfast.
Passing by the sour and spicy noodle shop from yesterday, she saw the door was open and went in. "Boss, let’s talk about something."
Since there were no customers at this hour, the husband-and-wife owners both came out. The boss’s wife had a very pleasant look and smiled before she even spoke. "Sis, what is it?"
Xinyan smiled and said, "I want to pack some sour and spicy noodles to take away, but the quantity might be a bit large. Can you take the order?"
The couple’s faces were full of delight when they heard that. "We can, we can, we’ll take it. How many portions do you want?"
Xinyan looked up at the bamboo tubes on the wooden rack. "Twenty portions. Do you have enough bamboo tubes?"
The two exchanged a look, then turned to Xinyan. "What time do you need them?"
Xinyan thought for a moment. "I’ll probably come by to pick them up around two in the afternoon. Will that work for you?"
The boss let out a sigh of relief. "No problem. I’ll go get some more bamboo tubes in a bit; it won’t delay anything."
After a few more polite words, Xinyan left, bought some breakfast, and prepared to head back to the guesthouse.
But just as she turned around, someone bumped into her. That person hurriedly apologized, then rushed off ahead.
After seeing the person’s face clearly, Xinyan froze for a moment. Before she could figure it out, someone behind her took off after that person.
She heard a few of them shouting, "Hurry up and chase him, don’t let him get away!"
Watching those people running off, Xinyan suddenly thought of something; she didn’t even bother with breakfast anymore, lifted her feet, and ran after them.
