Chapter 729: Uncle, You’re Bad
Chapter 729: Chapter 729: Uncle, You’re Bad
During dinner, Gu Wanqing brought up the engagement: "Jinxuan, when will your family come over? Do you need us to help with the accommodation arrangements?"
He Jinxuan politely declined: "Thank you, Auntie, but my family can manage to squeeze in at our place, so we won’t trouble you."
The City Transport Company Family Courtyard was one of the first areas to undergo heating renovation. He Jinxuan had already reached out to borrow a bed and informed the guesthouse in advance. At the time, they would rent a few sets of bedding; anyway, there aren’t many guests staying at the guesthouse during the New Year, so they might only need to borrow for two nights.
Initially, He Jinxuan had wanted to let them stay at the guesthouse, but Wang Baoliang mentioned that everyone in the family courtyard does it this way. To go with the flow, He Jinxuan followed suit.
It was then that Xinyan asked: "Dad, didn’t you accompany Mom to the Jiao Family? How come you didn’t stay for a meal there?"
When she visited the Jiao Family last time, the elderly couple was very hospitable. Her parents went over today and came back so early, which did make her a bit curious.
Han Jingchen saw his daughter’s expression and knew what she was thinking: "Your Grandpa Jiao was feeling a bit unwell. The family was worried and took him to the hospital.
The doctor suggested he should stay in the hospital for observation for a few days. The whole family is at the hospital taking care of him, so we thought it would be inappropriate to stay over."
Xinyan was somewhat puzzled: "Did you arrive at the hospital just as he was feeling unwell, or did he feel unwell after seeing you?"
Han Jingchen glanced at his wife and then turned to smile at his daughter: "Your Grandpa Jiao drank some wine on New Year’s Day and might have caught a chill while napping in bed. He’s been feeling a bit unwell these past few days; it’s not because of us."
After hearing this, Xinyan felt relieved. She was worried that her parents had brought up the past, causing Grandpa Jiao to recall old memories and become emotionally upset, leading to hospitalization, which would not be good.
Hearing her father say it wasn’t their fault, she relaxed.
After dinner, Han Jingchen took Gu Wanqing back to their room.
Xinyan and He Jinxuan helped Sister Chen clean up, and then they left together.
They stopped by a co-op store on the way to buy some fireworks that children like, as well as some pastries and canned fruit.
Xinyan drove towards the research institute.
They didn’t expect that as soon as they arrived at Ye Liyan’s yard, they would see Lin Kaixin.
But what was with this tense atmosphere?
He Jinxuan recalled what the little ones mentioned last time and whispered his guess to Xinyan: "I think her partner’s family is causing trouble again."
Xinyan looked over in confusion: "Lin Kaixin comes from such a good family, she’s beautiful and has a good job. How did she end up with such a partner?"
He Jinxuan really didn’t know how to answer Xinyan’s question.
While they were talking, the two got out of the car.
The two little ones saw the car parked not far from their house and rushed over.
Without them needing to ask, Ye Siyan hugged Xinyan and said: "Aunt Yan, they’re bullying Aunt Lin."
Xinyan was initially going to pick up the little one, but heard He Jinxuan, who had been watching her, say: "Don’t pick him up, he’s too heavy."
Ye Siyan pouted at He Jinxuan: "Uncle, you’re mean."
He Jinxuan wasn’t bothered: "You’re almost as heavy as your Aunt Yan now, she can’t lift you anymore."
Ye Siyan had grown quite a bit taller, though He Jinxuan’s words were a bit exaggerated. Hearing this, the little one didn’t insist on being picked up by Xinyan; instead, he sulked and ignored his uncle.
