Chapter 1804: Chapter 1798: Parting
“Sigh, it’s time to board the train for the journey home again.” After being driven out by the old lady, Qin Xue and the others left home with their luggage and children without lingering any longer.
Now, Qin Xue looked at the soon-to-be ripe rice fields, thinking how quickly time had passed.
“Isn’t that just life, always shuttling back and forth?” Nangong Beiying felt that her emotions weren’t as rich as Qin Xue’s, perhaps because of her childhood experiences.
She felt like an emotionless robot; nothing could touch her heart, so there were very few people and things she cared about.
“Yeah, that’s life, together and apart.” Qin Xue agreed.
“Yingying, let’s sing,” Qin Xue suggested, realizing she hadn’t sung for a long time.
“What song?” Nangong Beiying looked at Qin Xue, wondering what idea she had now.
“Though we haven’t asked, the heart is silently troubled… Your turn.” Qin Xue began, thinking that singing this song at this moment set the mood.
“You really want to sing this? Are you okay?” Nangong Beiying couldn’t figure out what was going on with Qin Xue.
“Just sing,” Qin Xue urged Nangong Beiying.
The others didn’t know what song Qin Xue was singing, nor did they understand the language. They couldn’t make sense of it, but it still sounded nice to them.
“Fine, I’ll sing, okay? Geez, you want me to sing and even give me the male part. Aren’t you being a bit much?” Nangong Beiying said, then started to sing Zheng Shaoqiu and Guan Juying’s “Farewell” in Cantonese.
But Nangong Beiying felt that it didn’t fit the current scene. This song was clearly about a romantic parting, but they were leaving home now.
“Xuexue, your song choice doesn’t match the scene,” Nangong Beiying couldn’t help but comment.
“What does it matter if it doesn’t match? We’ve finished singing anyway. How about you pick another song and I’ll accompany you?” Qin Xue didn’t care that much. She’d already sung, so why worry about it?
“Alright, let’s stop singing. They don’t know what this song is, let alone understand what we are singing,” Nangong Beiying observed the group’s bewildered expressions. If it weren’t for the fact that the two of them knew the song, people might think they were from another planet.
“Okay, no more singing then.” Qin Xue glanced at everyone and saw that, just like Nangong Beiying said, they all looked puzzled, losing her interest.
“Xuexue, did you perhaps meet someone special here?” Nangong Beiying asked Qin Xue in a low voice.
“What nonsense are you speaking?” Qin Xue glared at Nangong Beiying. What was she thinking? Was that something you could say casually?
“Really not?” Nangong Beiying asked Qin Xue suspiciously.
“No, do you think any man can compare to my husband?” Qin Xue wasn’t crazy. With such a good husband, why would she look at anyone else? What kind of man would make her abandon such a high-quality partner for him?
“Then what’s with that half-alive look on your face?” Nangong Beiying looked at her grim expression, truly feeling the impulse to slap her.
“It’s really nothing. I just thought about how we won’t know when we’ll be able to come back after we leave. It makes me sad. And then there’s Qin Su’e’s situation. If she’s found guilty, will she retaliate after getting out? Just thinking about it makes me anxious.”
Qin Xue just thought a bit too much, okay? It wasn’t like what Nangong Beiying said, making her wonder what others would think if they heard their conversation.
