Chapter 1826 - 1820: Difference
Chapter 1826: Chapter 1820: Difference
But Qing Yuran didn’t listen to her mother’s words, and she had no choice. She couldn’t possibly make her cry, so when she wanted to go to Silver Wolf and Silver Wolf was willing to hold her, Qing Zhu simply let it be.
Seeing Qin Xue and the others chatting here, she came over as well; otherwise, sitting by herself over there, staring at nothing, would be awkward.
She wanted to sleep, but with her daughter in someone else’s arms, she couldn’t sleep even if she tried. So she thought she should find something to do to pass the time.
"The daily grind turns many women into haggard old ladies," Qin Xue said after hearing Qing Zhu’s mundane stories.
"Never seen you turn into a haggard old lady though," Nangong Beiying glanced at her. This woman was already a mother of two kids, yet she looked younger than high school students. Give others a chance, will you?
But Nangong Beiying seemed to forget that she herself wasn’t much older, and if she were still in school, she’d still be a student. Her experiences from two lifetimes made her overlook her age. Was this a good thing or not?
"Yingying, are you jealous of me?" Qin Xue asked softly, looking at Nangong Beiying, puzzled as to why she was provoking her today.
"Yes, you’ve caught me," Nangong Beiying nodded straightforwardly. Who wouldn’t be jealous of someone like Qin Xue? But envy wouldn’t help; she didn’t have what it took.
"You, jealous of me? Are you trying to provoke public outrage?" Qin Xue pointed at herself, then at Nangong Beiying. Given they were cousins, there was some resemblance in their looks. If someone said they were jealous of the other, wouldn’t that just be laughable?
"Sigh, haven’t you noticed I’m much tanner than you?" Nangong Beiying was being purposely mischievous. She had a healthy skin tone, whereas Qin Xue was excessively fair. This was naked envy.
In her past life, she was a soldier, often training and getting tanned more than most women. In this life, she got tanned from being busy and running around. Calling it black was an exaggeration; it was a healthy color. Seeing Qin Xue’s fair skin, she wondered what she would look like if she were that fair too.
Of course, she was just curious. She did prefer her current skin tone. In future generations, it was a trendy color. Many people went out of their way to achieve this tone, but she had it naturally.
Speaking of which, Nangong Beiying found it perplexing. She shouldn’t have gotten tanned all over. Why was her skin this color? Could it be that her memoryless mother had the same skin tone?
Unable to figure it out, Nangong Beiying didn’t bother thinking further. Whether or not it was true, she had no memories of her and thinking more wouldn’t help.
"Yingying, you know what?" Qin Xue asked Nangong Beiying very slowly.
"Know what?" Nangong Beiying looked up at Qin Xue.
"I want to punch you, you know?" Qin Xue said, rubbing her fists. If Chu Molin wasn’t resting his head on her lap, she’d have rushed at her.
"Why?" Nangong Beiying leaned back, gazing steadily at Qin Xue.
"Qing Zhu, where is she really dark? Look at our hands, do you see any difference?" Qin Xue asked Qing Zhu to judge.
"Of course, there’s a difference, but it’s really not much. Can’t you two stop flaunting? Give others some room to breathe," Qing Zhu thought they were doing it on purpose. Were they afraid people didn’t know they were naturally beautiful and fair-skinned?
"See, caught you," Nangong Beiying gave Qin Xue a reproachful look for showing off.
