"I just took the kids out to check out the surrounding environment." Dongfang Li thought it was something serious.
"How do you feel about this place?" Qin Xue asked Dongfang Li with a smile.
"It’s quite good. I didn’t expect such a big change in just a few years." When Dongfang Li left home, this area hadn’t been developed yet. But now that she’s back, she realizes how much it’s changed.
"It will change even more in a few years." Qin Xue thought of the rapid development she had seen in the future, it was really fast.
"Yeah, the country’s going to get better and better." Dongfang Li was quite reflective.
"Exactly. You won’t even be able to imagine it then." Qing Zhu chimed in.
"What were you just talking about?" Dongfang Li wasn’t really trying to pry into their conversation, she just noted that they seemed a bit unhappy, so she asked.
"We were talking about having you do embroidery and then open a Chinese-style dress shop." Qin Xue said it candidly when she heard Dongfang Li ask, since they’re planning to do it anyway, it was a good time as any to bring it up.
"I have no problem with it, it’s just that embroidery is slow, won’t it be a little behind schedule if you’re opening a shop?" Dongfang Li pondered for a moment before expressing her concern.
"That is an issue. I just don’t know where to find people who know embroidery, especially skilled ones. If we could find a few, that’d be great." Qin Xue knew how valuable embroidery skills were. If there truly were experts, her shop would have nothing to worry about.
"I do know a few people, but it’s been many years since I’ve returned, and I haven’t been in touch with them, so I don’t know how they are now." Dongfang Li learned embroidery with those peers back then, so she knew a few people well. But it’s been years since they’ve seen each other, and she doesn’t know what they’re up to now. What if they can’t be found after she tells Qin Xue?
"Really, where are they?" Qin Xue was surprised to find a perfect solution presenting itself when she needed it most, it was wonderful.
"They used to be my classmates. We got along quite well back then, but after I stopped studying, we contacted each other less. Later, after leaving the Imperial Capital with the kids’ father, we lost touch. So I don’t know if they’re married now or what jobs they have." Dongfang Li felt she gave up so much, but still didn’t get what she wanted, it was heartbreaking.
But now that things have come to this point, there’s no use thinking too much about it. She should focus on what to do in the future. Her eldest son is still so young, and she’s about to give birth again. Doing it all alone is quite challenging.
After meeting Qin Xue and the others, she’s found some relief, but it’s not a long-term solution. She still needs to find a way.
"That is indeed a problem. Why don’t you give me their addresses, and I’ll go see them? What do you think?" Qin Xue looked at Dongfang Li’s big belly, not comfortable asking her to go, so she’d rather go herself.
No matter what, she felt it’d be better for her to go than risk something happening if Dongfang Li went, so Qin Xue asked Dongfang Li for the addresses, planning to find them herself.
"That’s doable. I’m just not sure if they’ve moved. I’ll write down the addresses for you, you can go check without any problem." Dongfang Li agreed readily.
She thought if Qin Xue could find a few familiar people, it would be nice. But she was also worried that if they came, they might talk to her family, and they weren’t close enough to share everything.
