Chapter 1998: Chapter 1992: Keep Striving
"Miss, who are you looking for?" The receptionist stopped Qin Xue upon seeing her.
"I’m just here to have a look, why do you ask?" Qin Xue glanced around the lobby, feeling quite impressed. It seems that while Xiao Qi might be a bit clueless in romance, when it comes to work? He’s definitely got some skills.
"What are you looking at? Who are you here to see?" The receptionist eyed Qin Xue’s outfit, which was really quite stylish, professional yet beautiful.
The receptionist looked down at herself; the difference was quite significant.
"Well, I heard your company is hiring some clerical staff, right?" Qin Xue pointed to the recruitment information outside the door.
"Uh, yes, are you here to apply? If so, you’ll need to register first." The receptionist gave Qin Xue a once-over. So, she was here for a job, no wonder she was dressed so well. But perhaps her intentions weren’t solely on the job.
Qin Xue could guess some of the receptionist’s thoughts, but so what? If she decides to do something, she puts her all into it.
Besides, she promised Xiao Qi she’d help solve his problems, so she really needed to think carefully about how to proceed.
"Okay, but has Mr. Xiao arrived? I heard he’s really handsome, is that true?" Qin Xue filled out the form while gossiping about Xiao Qi.
However, she underestimated the receptionist. If she didn’t have some skills, she wouldn’t be here at the front desk. Working here is relatively easy with good benefits, so she reminded herself not to gossip about company matters, especially anything about the boss, to maintain job security.
Many who started with her had already been dismissed, but she remained steady as a rock at the front desk.
Hearing Qin Xue come just to apply and already asking about the boss, the receptionist figured Qin Xue wouldn’t last long here.
Everyone knew their Mr. Xiao disliked women who schemed to get close to him. Otherwise, he wouldn’t just now be engaged, and he’s said to be marrying soon. But the identity of his fiancée was a surprise to everyone, as Qin Xue asked, she glanced at her.
"Miss, you’d be better off not asking about that. You’re here for work, not eye candy. If that’s your mindset, I advise you not to apply for this job. It won’t suit you." The receptionist commented, seeing the clarity in Qin Xue’s eyes, and kindly offered her advice.
"You’re great, keep up the good work." Qin Xue handed the pen and completed form to the receptionist, nodding in encouragement.
"You’re quite amusing." The receptionist looked at Qin Xue’s smiling face, finding something strangely peculiar about her demeanor.
"Where should I wait?" Qin Xue merely smiled, not saying much.
"Wait in the lounge over there; someone will take you inside shortly." The receptionist pointed to a small lounge not too far away, a place one could relax after finishing work before getting back to it.
"Thank you." Qin Xue followed her pointed direction and saw there were already quite a few people inside. It seems job hunting was busy business.
Qin Xue reached the lounge door and indeed saw it was quite crowded. But since she wasn’t really there to apply, the number of people mattered little to her.
Qin Xue pondered whether to go in or not, as she felt some envious looks cast her way from within.
This made Qin Xue feel slightly unwelcome, so should she go in and stare back? Or wait outside by herself? After deliberating, Qin Xue decided to go in; she didn’t want to draw attention right from the start.
