Chapter 2096: Chapter 2090: Can’t Hold Her Anymore
The two families kept chatting about anything and everything. After discussing the children’s matters, they’d move on to other topics and ended up staying at Qin Xue’s house until after dinner, before heading out to the plaza together.
"Little girl, you don’t even know how to walk yet. Don’t go into the crowd." Qing Zhu could barely hold onto her daughter, who was getting way too energetic.
Qing Yuran looked at Qing Zhu with dissatisfaction. She wanted to go down and play. Being held by her mother was no fun and felt boring.
"You can’t walk. What are you going to do if I let you down?" Qing Zhu looked at the little one helplessly, feeling like this was just to spite her.
Qing Yuran looked at Qing Zhu, then turned her gaze toward Ye Xuan, who was talking to Chu Molin. The meaning was clear; if her mother wouldn’t take her to play, she’d ask her father to.
"Really, you little ingrate. All my love is wasted on you. But it’s better for you to trouble your dad than me. Fine, I’ll carry you over there." Qing Zhu immediately understood her daughter’s intentions.
"Hehe," Qing Yuran was delighted that her mother understood her.
"Are you that happy to go down and play? Isn’t staying here with me and your Snowy Mom good enough?" Although Qing Zhu said this, she still carried the child over to her dad.
"Ye Xuan," Qing Zhu called when she reached the two men.
"Hmm? What’s up?" Ye Xuan looked up at the mother and daughter in front of him. This was a rare situation.
"Your daughter is looking for you." Qing Zhu handed the child over to him.
"What’s up, Yuran?" As soon as Ye Xuan reached out, his daughter wrapped her little arms around his neck. This showed how enthusiastic she was about him.
"Oh, by the way, your daughter wants you to take her down to play with those kids." As Qing Zhu turned away, she kindly explained her daughter’s wishes to her dad.
"Yuran, is that true?" Ye Xuan, being a doting father, didn’t say much upon hearing this and directly inquired about his daughter’s wishes.
"Hehe," yes, I want to play. Dad, take me there, please. It’s no fun with Mom. Qing Yuran looked pitifully at her father. She really wanted to play.
"Hey brother, I’ll take the child over there for a bit. Do you want to join us?" Ye Xuan, swayed by his daughter’s look, didn’t care about the conversation he was having with Chu Molin. It was more important to take his daughter to play first.
"You go ahead. I’m fine here." Chu Molin had no interest in mingling with the kids.
Usually, he was only with the kids because there were only three at home. Including Xue Ling, it was only four, but Xue Ling was way more mature in both age and mind. Therefore, he couldn’t imagine having a coherent conversation with her because she either talked about Qin Xue or about how he should improve his reading methods. So, in his mind, Xue Ling was family, an adult, not a child.
The three sons had nowhere to play, so he had to accompany them. Otherwise, he didn’t have the patience.
"Alright then, I’ll take her to play for a bit and come back later to finish our talk." Ye Xuan nodded and took his daughter to where she was interested in playing.
"You’re really something, just leaving the kid like that." Qin Xue remarked upon seeing Qing Zhu who simply handed over the child.
"You know how it is. I don’t want to go over there. The questions people ask are ones I don’t want to answer, lest I offend someone. Better to let him take her." Qing Zhu genuinely didn’t know how to answer those questions. It always felt like people were prying, which was really annoying.
Sometimes Qing Zhu wanted to ask why they were so inquisitive. Were they planning to give her some money or were they looking to get her a job?
