Chapter 2881: Chapter 2879: Lost in a Fog
Later, she saw someone suggest putting newspaper where the dog urinates and gradually moving it towards the toilet after it urinates several times; this way, it forms a habit, and it will go to the toilet every time.
Dodo was really smart and knew how to act pitiful. Whenever it misbehaved and Qin Xue scolded it, it would look at her with a sorry expression. If she scolded harshly, it would bury its head under its paws, lying on the ground, acting as if it couldn’t see or hear.
Seeing it like this, any anger she had dissipated, so Qin Xue always found herself at a loss with it.
But every time Qin Xue came home, she would see it jump up to interact with her, always wanting to be held tightly.
Because of this, Qin Xue felt it had grown quite a bit and slowly taught it some skills, like helping her open the door.
Every time she went out and called Dodo at the door, asking it to open the door, it would push the door open with its paws, and let her in.
Whenever this happened, she would crouch down to pet its head and body.
And it loved this more than anything, lying on its back with all four legs in the air, letting Qin Xue pet her while squinting contentedly.
Qin Xue especially enjoyed playing hide-and-seek with it. Every day, she hid so it could find her. When it didn’t see her ahead, it would return on its original path to find her, sitting at the last place where it saw her, waiting.
When it saw her arrive, it would stand up and walk home. Even when climbing stairs, if it didn’t see her, it would sit and wait until she appeared again before continuing up. Truly, it was very intelligent.
Having it with her, Qin Xue’s previously suppressed emotions were comforted to a certain extent, and she was slowly opening herself up.
Qin Xue always thought that one day when Dodo had puppies, she’d keep them all; but sadly, happy times didn’t last.
During one outing, due to her negligence, she didn’t hold onto it in time. When it turned back to find her, it was hit by a speeding cement truck. Not only was it hit, but it was crushed by the truck.
At that moment, Qin Xue froze, and after a few seconds, she broke down; her Dodo was dead right in front of her.
Its head was crushed flat, and its eyeball was squeezed out. Qin Xue cried heartbreakingly.
But the truck was too fast; it didn’t even slow down and disappeared in the blink of an eye.
Qin Xue touched Dodo, still warm, feeling heartache so intense she couldn’t breathe. This was her beloved dog, a companion like family, who had died so tragically before her; she couldn’t accept this reality and cried for several days afterward.
For an entire week, she wandered in a daze; after that, no one knew what she felt inside, only observing that she seemed to revert to her usual self.
During that time, she felt an emptiness within her. Later, when Yingying and the others came back, they bought her another little puppy, which was smart and well-behaved, but it wasn’t Dodo.
She treated the new puppy kindly, but Dodo would forever remain in her heart; she couldn’t forget the dog that had brought her so much joy.
Now, seeing this dog, Qin Xue thought it resembled her dear Dodo. If it didn’t wish to leave, she wanted to adopt it, uncertain if it would stay.
However, adopting it wasn’t something she could enforce; if fated, she’d take care of its wounds and it might stay. If not, no matter how much she did, it would be in vain; this was what Qin Xue felt inside.
