Reborn Lady

Chapter 107

Chapter 107

Yin Rong’s wedding would take place on the 18th of May, and the Yin family’s celebration commenced on the 17th.

Yin Hui deliberately chose to arrive early on the 18th, as this would allow her to see Jiang Wei, who was part of the welcoming party for the bride, and also avoid the hustle and bustle of the Yin family entertaining guests. She expected the house to be quieter on the 19th.

Xiao Heng stayed at home, while Yin Hui followed Wei Luo out of Donghua Gate. She entered the carriage, and Wei Luo rode his horse.

As the carriage set off, Yin Hui heard the clattering of horseshoes beside her. She opened half of the curtain and saw Wei Luo’s figure facing the morning light. The sun shone brightly, illuminating Wei Luo’s fair face, as if it had never been touched by the sun.

Surprised, Yin Hui asked, “Aren’t you in a hurry to go to the guards?” She had expected Wei Luo to leave immediately after mounting his horse.

Wei Luo glanced at her and instructed Chang Feng, who was following him, “You’ll be with Madam for the next two days.”

After giving the order, Wei Luo spurred his horse and rode away.

Yin Hui saw Chang Feng, who had a resolute and dependable appearance with his square face and sturdy build, and felt reassured.

Jinzhan knelt in the carriage and speculated with a smile, “The third master probably wanted to stay with you a little longer, but you were in a hurry, so he had to leave.”

However, Yin Hui didn’t believe that was the case. Wei Luo was hardly the type to entertain such leisurely thoughts. He didn’t even think much of her kissing his cheek, considering it a superfluous gesture.

When they arrived at the Yin family’s house, it was still early, and the guests had not yet begun to arrive. Uncle De, clad in a brand-new muslin robe, came outside with his hands clasped behind his back to inspect whether the attendants had successfully unloaded everything from the carriage. As he approached, he noticed Jinzhan assisting Yin Hui as she exited the carriage.

“Madam is here!” Uncle De said pleasantly. The lady didn’t come for the banquet the day before, so his master was still disappointed as he felt that the second lady might not be able to leave the palace.

Yin Hui laughed and said, “My sister is getting married, how can I not come to the ceremony?” The coachman helped to take the gifts from the carriage, and Chang Feng took them.

Uncle De led Yin Hui inside the house.

The Yin family’s residence was adorned with lanterns and decorations, exuding an atmosphere of joy. Even the servants and maids rushing about were dressed in fresh new clothes.

In the main hall, the second wife, Madam.Zhao, was overseeing the preparations for the wedding ceremony, while Yin Yong, Yin Jingshan, Yin Wen, and Yin Lang were already seated. Although it was just past breakfast, they were discussing the day’s arrangements for entertaining the guests.

“Ah Hui!” Yin Yong welcomed his granddaughter with joy, rising from his seat.

Yin Jingshan, stroking his beard, beamed at Yin Hui. Her status as a noblewoman from the palace made her presence a matter of great respect for the Yin family. Moreover, her visit was expected to foster good relations between the sisters, which would be beneficial for Yin Rong’s marriage.

Yin Yong expressed his concern, asking, “Why didn’t you come yesterday?”

Yin Hui replied, “There was a slight delay, but I can stay here tonight. Grandfather, how are you? Do you need any help with the preparations?”

Yin Yong responded with a smile, “Everything is well in hand. Your sister is getting ready. Go and take a look.”

With her presence, Yin Hui’s grandfather and she had ample time to chat. Yin Hui nodded and warmly greeted Yin Jingshan and Yin Wen, as if there were no lingering grievances between their families.

Finally, Yin Hui’s gaze turned to Yin Lang.

Fifteen-year-old Yin Lang stood taller than Yin Hui, making her tilt her head upward slightly to meet his eyes. She couldn’t help but exclaim, “Ah Lang, you’ve grown so quickly,” noticing that he had become taller and more robust, shedding the look of a lanky youth she remembered.

Yin Lang, who had adapted to the height difference between him and his sister, looked at her and grinned, saying, “I’ve been practicing martial arts recently.”

Similar to Yin Hui, Yin Wen had access to various teachers to support his education. Whenever Yin Wen showed interest in a particular subject, their grandfather would swiftly arrange for a renowned instructor to provide comprehensive guidance, both in scholarly and martial pursuits. As a result, Yin Wen had become a well-known and accomplished young man in Pingcheng.

Upon arriving at the Yin household, Mrs. Zhao had initially assigned Yin Lang to focus solely on academics and not engage in martial arts. She had reminded him that he was a concubine’s child and should not expect treatment similar to his elder brother’s.

However, after being adopted into the main family by their grandfather, Yin Lang was provided with a martial arts instructor, in addition to a tutor who imparted knowledge about business matters.

Yin Hui smiled and pinched Yin Lang’s arm, saying, “Very well, I’m busy today, but I’ll come see how you’re doing with your martial arts practice tomorrow morning. I hope you’ve gained some muscle since I last saw you.” She remembered how thin he was at the beginning of the year, and she was concerned about his physique.

However, just as she was about to exert force, the boy unexpectedly flexed his arms, demonstrating his strength to his sister in this manner. Yin Hui looked up, taken by surprise.

Yin Lang returned her gaze with a smile. In just a few months, he seemed to have transformed into a different person. Gone was the inferiority complex, replaced by robust health, as if he had been part of the eldest family since the beginning. Yin Hui felt completely at ease; Yin Lang’s potential appeared boundless.

Even though his slender arms were now stronger and much tenderer than Wei Luo’s, he dared to boast in front of his sister. His childlike innocence made her find him quite adorable.

After exchanging farewells with three generations of the family, Yin Hui proceeded to visit Yin Rong.

“Ah Hui is here. I thought you’d forgotten about your sister now that you’re married,” Mrs. Zhao remarked with a hint of irony. She still held a grudge against Yin Hui for refusing to arrange a marriage with a prestigious family for her daughter. Consequently, her daughter ended up marrying a seventh-rank magistrate. Given that county magistrates were relocated every three years, they couldn’t predict where he’d be assigned next year. Marrying a young general from one of King Yan’s three guards might have been a better prospect.

In general, Mrs. Zhao’s decision to marry her daughter to Jiang Weixiang was more out of necessity, and she wasn’t entirely content with it.

“Mother, there are numerous palace regulations, and it’s not easy for my sister to travel freely, so please don’t say that,” Yin Rong, who sat at her dressing table, turned to reprimand her mother softly. Her expression and tone carried a hint of polite condescension.

Mrs. Zhao merely snorted and kept her silence.

Yin Rong looked at Yin Hui with genuine happiness and said, “I’m thrilled that you could make it.”

Yin Hui harbored doubts about whether Yin Rong genuinely considered her a sister. Could someone change their feelings so easily?

“Sister, don’t hold it against me for arriving late. Let’s begin by arranging your hair. Relatives will be coming soon,” Yin Hui said with a smile as she took a seat beside her.
