Chapter 2645: Follow The White Aura

Chapter 2645: Chapter 2645: Follow The White Aura

Then, when she had first spotted Yu Qi accompanied by an older man, her mind had immediately leapt to the worst possible conclusion. She had instantly envisioned the cliché "kept woman" trope and had rushed forward without hesitation to hurl insults, fueled entirely by her own deep-seated insecurities and unchecked assumptions.

"You embarrassed yourself today. Beyond that, you embarrassed me as well. Do you even realise the full gravity of what you have done?" Chen Song asked, his tone heavy with the weight of the consequences.

"I know... but I already lost my job." Chen Meili said faintly, speaking as if the loss of her position was the absolute worst outcome of this entire ordeal, as though nothing else could possibly compare.

Chen Song simply stared at Chen Meili in stunned, oppressive silence. For a long, agonising moment, he said nothing at all. Then, he began to laugh again, softly this time, but the sound was laced with a deep, chilling bitterness that made the surrounding air feel cold and suffocating.

"You actually think this is just about your job?" Chen Song asked, his voice trembling with a volatile mix of disbelief and sheer frustration.

"W-What do you mean by that...?" Chen Meili asked, her eyes widening as a new, colder fear began to take root in her chest.

"You heard Chairwoman Tang earlier." Chen Song said, pausing for a brief, heavy moment as the harsh reality of their situation finally settled over him like a shroud. "I am suspended. And there is going to be a full audit of my department."

Seeing that Chen Meili still seemed unable to grasp the true meaning and severity of the situation, Chen Song’s voice grew heavier and more jagged with each passing word.

"If they find anything... anything at all, it means my career is over. Permanently." Chen Song stated.

If he had been entirely innocent, he might have been fine. However, the truth was that he had frequently used his powerful position inappropriately and for personal gain. Now, those past choices were finally coming back to haunt him in the worst possible way.

"Go back. There is nothing more that we can do here." Chen Song said.

Chen Song then turned and walked away, leaving his niece standing there all alone. He no longer had any energy, patience, or desire left to comfort her. Seeing his departure, Chen Meili had no choice but to leave the area as well, her mind spinning wildly in confusion and fear.

"Revoke all of Chen Meili’s access cards in our system immediately." Yu Qi issued coldly, her tone leaving no room for argument.

"Yes, Miss Yu Qi." Jung Lian replied, nodding respectfully without hesitation.

"Since this matter is over, I am going to leave for now." Yu Qi said.

Jung Lian nodded as Yu Qi walked out of the greenhouse. Just as she was about to drive off, she suddenly felt a sharp, stinging pain in her finger where the dark red aura had appeared yesterday.

She looked down at her finger and narrowed her eyes in deep concentration. Then, something like a pure white aura began to emanate from her fingertip. It slowly detached itself and floated into the air, moving as if it had a clear and specific destination in mind. Intrigued and sensing that something important was unfolding, Yu Qi decided to follow the trail left behind by the mysterious white aura.

....

Meanwhile, Sang Yuling had just sent her daughter to a friend’s house. Her daughter had told her that they wanted to revise their exam materials together in preparation for their upcoming tests.

Sang Yuling had not refused the request. In fact, she had somewhere else to go. Somewhere she needed to be without her daughter present. This arrangement worked out perfectly for her and suited her intentions well.

After dropping her daughter off, Sang Yuling drove for over an hour, heading far away from the town. She made her way toward a location that was isolated and far removed from civilisation. Despite the remoteness and eerie quiet, she felt no fear at all, as this was certainly not her first time visiting this place.

Eventually, she pulled up and stopped in front of a secluded house. There were no other homes in sight, and the nearest neighbour was at least a ten-minute drive away.

Sang Yuling got out of the car and walked up to the entrance, knocking firmly on the door. A middle-aged woman soon opened it.

"I am Sang Yuling. Master Chunwei asked me to come here today." Sang Yuling introduced herself politely to the woman standing before her.

The middle-aged woman did not offer even the slightest smile as she silently invited Sang Yuling inside. Sang Yuling had met this woman before and always felt the same unsettling impression. The woman was like an expressionless doll, devoid of emotion. It was as if she were being controlled by some unseen external force. Sang Yuling instinctively knew that this must be the handiwork of Master Chunwei.

The middle-aged woman led Sang Yuling to a specific room, opened the door, and gestured for her to enter. Once Sang Yuling stepped inside, the woman quietly closed the door behind her, leaving her alone in an eerie silence.

Sang Yuling scanned the room and saw Master Chunwei already waiting inside. She immediately bowed respectfully toward him.

"Master Chunwei." Sang Yuling greeted him softly and respectfully.

"Hmm..." Master Chunwei responded. "Take out the item, place it into the circle, and then go and stand over there."

Sang Yuling nodded obediently and immediately did exactly as Master Chunwei had instructed. He nodded in approval when he saw her comply without hesitation. He then stepped into the ritual circle himself and began to chant in a low, guttural voice.
