Chapter 2753: Bad Relationship With Her Mother
Chapter 2753: Chapter 2753: Bad Relationship With Her Mother
The manager quickly turned around and instructed the head technician to export every single digital login record, physical access history, past maintenance schedule, and employee card swipe entry from the previous forty-eight hours. While the technician busied himself copying the heavy data files onto an encrypted flash drive, another officer on the team spoke up.
“In addition to the digital logs, we also officially need every single visitor log, vehicle registration record, parking garage entry time, and the complete hotel staff roster from yesterday’s day shift.” The police officer requested, writing the demands down.
“I will have absolutely everything prepared and printed out for you in a few minutes.” The manager nodded repeatedly, eager to cooperate.
The atmosphere inside the cramped monitoring room became increasingly tense with every passing second. Nobody dared to speak another word. Everyone present silently understood the terrifying implications of the evidence. Dr Tang Qin Hao’s disappearance had not been an impulsive, random kidnapping. It had been a meticulously planned, heavily funded black operation from the very beginning.
…
Inside a luxurious corporate office across the city, Angelica Lee stood silently before a massive floor-to-ceiling glass window overlooking the sprawling urban skyline. She was still waiting. Waiting with growing impatience for her subordinate’s breakthrough report about finding Tang Qin Hao’s current hiding spot. She still had absolutely no idea that Tang Qin Hao had already returned safely to the luxury hotel under elite protection and was completely out of her reach.
Angelica Lee pinched the bridge of her nose, rubbing the area right between her eyes to stave off a pounding headache. She simply could not focus on any of her corporate work today, her mind consumed by the sudden silence from her extraction team.
Then, a sudden, firm knock echoed on the heavy wooden door of her office room.
“Come in.” Angelica Lee stated, smoothing down her expression.
The door clicked open, and a well-dressed figure walked into the private space. It was not the tactical subordinate she was expecting, but rather her own mother, Catherine Lee.
“Mom? What on earth are you doing here at the office today?” Angelica Lee asked, her brows furrowing in surprise.
“You have not come home to the family estate for two whole days now. Are you really that busy with your new projects, or is something else going on?” Catherine Lee asked, her eyes scanning her daughter’s tense posture with maternal suspicion.
“Yes, I am incredibly busy.” Angelica Lee replied coldly, turning her back toward the floor-to-ceiling window and effectively shutting down any possibility of further personal conversation.
“Ange, Mom just wants to talk to you for a moment…” Catherine Lee began softly, but before she could finish her sentence, Angelica Lee cut her off without even bothering to look back.
“Mom… I am busy. I don’t have the time for this.” Angelica Lee’s voice was perfectly calm, yet it carried an unmistakable, icy sense of emotional distance.
Seeing only her daughter’s rigid back, Catherine Lee slowly lowered her gaze, her heart sinking. She knew. She knew all too well that Angelica Lee still refused to forgive her because of the traumatic events that had transpired all those years ago.
A quiet, heavy sigh escaped Catherine Lee’s lips. She truly and deeply regretted everything. In the end, it had been she herself who had pushed her own daughter further and further away into this emotional fortress.
“Ange… I know you hate me… and I completely understand why. But I really am sorry. Back then… I completely lost my mind. I unfairly blamed you for your brother’s tragic death, even though none of it was your fault.” Catherine Lee called out again, her voice trembling slightly with suppressed emotion. Her eyes gradually reddened with unshed tears. “It’s been such a long time already. Can’t you become my lovely, sweet daughter again?”
Her voice became softer and more desperate with every syllable. She genuinely, deeply longed for the warm relationship they once shared.
Recently, Catherine Lee had become increasingly envious whenever she saw her sister-in-law, Winter Lee, spending quality time with her own daughter, Cindy Lee. The mother and daughter shared an incredibly close, unbreakable bond. They often went on shopping sprees together, enjoyed relaxing spa days, shared elegant afternoon teas, watched movies, and even spent hours gossiping about all sorts of trivial, everyday matters.
Sometimes, Catherine Lee would secretly watch them from afar, hiding her pain. She could not help but feel a profound, aching sense of longing. She had never experienced anything remotely like that with her own flesh and blood.
Angelica Lee treated her with absolute politeness. Respectfully. Professionally. It was almost as though she were merely a casual acquaintance or an important business partner whose relationship needed to be carefully maintained out of sheer necessity. There was no warmth. No affection. No maternal closeness left between mother and daughter anymore.
Even so, Catherine Lee never blamed Angelica Lee for treating her so coldly. She had absolutely no right to. After all, she was the architect of her own misery. She was the one who had brutally destroyed their relationship with her own two hands.
Everything had begun fifteen years earlier.
At that time, Catherine Lee unexpectedly discovered that she was pregnant once again. It came as a complete, staggering surprise to the family. More than twelve years had already passed since Angelica Lee’s birth, and Catherine Lee had long believed that Angelica Lee would remain her only child.
When she first learned about the pregnancy, Catherine Lee was absolutely overjoyed. Her happiness only grew greater after a detailed medical examination confirmed that the baby was a boy. She finally had a son. In her traditional mind, that meant there would finally be a rightful male heir to inherit the entire Lee Family empire.
