“You are Angelica Lee?” The leader asked, his voice flat and devoid of emotion.
“Yes.” Angelica Lee answered, nodding with practised composure despite the cold knot of dread tightening in her chest. “May I ask why the People Security Bureau is standing outside my private residence at this ungodly hour?”
The team leader looked directly into her eyes, unrolling an official document before reading the contents aloud with chilling precision.
“Angelica Lee, you are hereby placed into immediate state custody for formal processing regarding multiple felony charges, including high-level human trafficking, mass child abduction, illegal false imprisonment, organised criminal conspiracy, and facilitating illicit human experimentation. If you attempt to resist arrest, flee, or destroy potential evidence, our officers are fully authorised to use all necessary physical force, including deadly force if required. Please cooperate.” The leader spoke.
The moment he finished reciting the legal notice, he gave a crisp nod to the two officers flanking his sides. They immediately stepped forward, bringing out a pair of heavy steel handcuffs.
“What? No! Get your hands off me!” Angelica Lee’s composure broke instantly, and she instinctively tried to slam the heavy door shut in their faces.
Unfortunately for her, the veteran tactical officers had fully anticipated her exact reaction. One officer immediately wedged his heavy steel-toed combat boot firmly into the gap between the door and the frame. Another shoved the door wide open with overwhelming physical force, sending her stumbling backwards into the foyer.

“Ange!” Catherine Lee cried out the instant she spotted her daughter being marched down the aisle by the guards.

He paused, glancing around at the patrolling guards before lowering his voice to an almost imperceptible whisper. “I deeply suspect… the state found out about our primary underground operations.”
Angelica Lee’s heart skipped a heavy beat, an ice-cold sensation flooding her veins. She immediately recalled the terrifying list of charges that had been read aloud during her dynamic arrest.
