Still, as he was forced into the back of the heavily armoured transport vehicle, a faint, desperate ray of hope flickered inside his frantic heart.

‘At least… Only I have been caught in this mess. My family… my father… they must still be safe on the outside.’

As long as the supreme patriarch and the Lee Family empire remained intact, they could mobilise their unlimited billions, corrupt connections, and political leverage to scrub the evidence and pull him out of prison. That tiny, desperate thread of hope sustained him all the way through the transport process until the vehicle pulled up to the high-security detention centre.

The heavy steel doors swung open with a resounding clatter. Richard Lee was forcefully marched down the concrete corridor by two armed guards. Then, he froze dead in his tracks. His entire body turned stiff as a board.

Yu Qi and Long Hui secretly shadowed Tang Qin Hao and his security team all the way to the airport terminal. They maintained a careful distance to avoid drawing any suspicion while quietly keeping a watchful eye on him. Only after Tang Qin Hao had successfully checked in his luggage and vanished beyond the security gates into the departure lounge did both of them finally breathe a long sigh of relief.

Yu Qi had been deeply anxious that Tang Qin Hao might be targeted by remnants of the syndicate and abducted a second time. That was the sole reason she had fiercely insisted on personally escorting him from afar until he was safely onboard his flight.

“It seems the authorities have already located Richard Lee.” Yu Qi remarked as they slowly strolled away from the bustling airport terminal. “I honestly assumed he would remain trapped inside that warehouse for at least a couple more days.”

“Humph! If you truly intended for him to stay hidden for days, you should have stashed him somewhere significantly farther away from the Lee Family’s own distribution hubs.” Long Hui let out a low snort, a faint smirk touching his lips.

“You know me.” Yu Qi offered an innocent shrug, her eyes dancing with playful malice. She smiled mischievously. “I wanted him to be found as quickly as possible so he could be tearfully reunited with his beloved family behind bars.”

Long Hui chuckled helplessly at her dark humour.

“I also received word that the special task force successfully liberated all the hostages from those storage facilities.” Long Hui added

“That’s wonderful news,” Yu Qi smiled, her tone turning genuinely warm. “At the very least, the authorities in this country moved with impressive speed the moment they received irrefutable evidence.”

She paused for a brief second, the warm smile fading into an expression of serious concentration.

“More importantly…” Yu Qi continued, her voice dropping. “We have managed to extract critical intelligence regarding the MicroTech Organisation.”

“I already know precisely what you are thinking.” Long Hui glanced down at her, a knowing smile curving his lips.

“Oh?” Yu Qi raised a delicate eyebrow, amused. “You do?”

“Of course.” Long Hui replied with supreme confidence. “A single look at your face is more than enough for me to decipher every thought running through your mind.”

“Oh, really? Then enlighten me. What am I thinking about right this second?” Yu Qi narrowed her eyes playfully.

“You want to head back into the city to watch the Lee Family chaos unfold firsthand.” Long Hui crossed his arms, looking utterly self-assured.

“You guessed completely wrong.” Yu Qi blinked in surprise before bursting into melodic laughter. She leaned in closer to him, her lips curving into an alluring, playful arc. “I was actually thinking about your lips.”

The moment those dangerous words left her mouth, Long Hui’s dark eyes deepened with sudden intensity.

“You really dare to play with fire right now?” Long Hui asked, his voice low and raspy.

Before Yu Qi could react, his arm snared around her slender waist, pulling her flush against his broad chest in one swift, seamless motion.

“Then don’t blame me if I refuse to let you go until I am thoroughly satisfied.” Long Hui said in rough tone.

Without giving her a chance to speak, Long Hui tilted her chin and captured her lips. His kiss was deceptively gentle at first, but quickly deepened into something far more demanding and possessive. Yu Qi instinctively wrapped her arm around his broad shoulder, softly yielding to his touch as a muffled moan escaped her throat under his relentless pressure.

Several dizzying minutes later, Yu Qi finally gathered enough composure to press her palm lightly against his solid chest.

Long Hui reluctantly broke the kiss, his eyes still burning.
