Chapter 2817: Erase His Memory About Our Conversation

Chapter 2817: Chapter 2817: Erase His Memory About Our Conversation

“Yes. I am currently employed as a chief scientist under their network.” Professor Shen nodded candidly.

“Where is their central headquarters located? Who holds the ultimate leadership? And what is their true endgame?” Yu Qi fired off several questions in rapid succession.

“The ultimate leader is, without a doubt, Master Liang. He is backed by a coalition of the world’s most influential and wealthy figures who are obsessed with achieving eternal life. They have funnelled countless billions into his operations. If you intend to dismantle the organisation entirely, you will inevitably have to confront those global elites as well. As for their main headquarters, I have heard rumours that it is situated somewhere in the northern region, but I do not know its precise location. I have never been granted clearance to visit it.” Professor Shen shook his head before adding, “As you can imagine, Master Liang has employed dozens of top-tier scientists to run experiments across the globe. He likely operates dozens of secret laboratories just like this one worldwide. Who knows how many there truly are?”

Long Hui and Yu Qi exchanged a subtle glance, digesting the vast scope of the syndicate.

“However…” Professor Shen added, suddenly remembering a crucial detail, “Master Liang frequented our specific facility far more often than the others because he needed to personally harvest the concentrated spiritual energy from the ancient tree. He once mentioned how convenient it would be if the tree could be propagated at other locations, implying that it was completely unique to this site. I later confirmed that theory myself. I tried multiple times to cultivate the tree elsewhere using its flowers, branches, and root cuttings, but every specimen withered and died within three days at most.”

“Which means you know his exact visitation schedule.” Yu Qi noted, her eyes narrowing into a sharp gaze.

“He is actually due to arrive here within the next two or three days. Whenever he comes, he usually stays locked inside that private room for about two days.” Professor Shen revealed.

“That timing could be better. We will be sure to stick around and roll out the welcome mat for him.” Yu Qi stated with a chilling, radiant smile.

After confirming that there was nothing left to ask Professor Shen, Yu Qi and Long Hui decided to slip out of the facility for the time being. As for the locked private chamber behind the second door, they agreed to inspect it when they returned to confront Master Liang two days later.

However, they could not afford to let Professor Shen report their presence or leak their conversation to Master Liang.

“Erase his memory of our conversation.” Yu Qi whispered softly to Long Hui.

Long Hui nodded in silent agreement, sharing her sentiment. He was equally determined to ensure Master Liang did not get tipped off and flee the country. Stepping forward, he slowly approached the trembling scientist.

Noticing the movement, Professor Shen immediately sensed that the couple intended to do something to him, instinctively taking a step backwards.

“What… what are you going to do to me?” Professor Shen asked, his voice shaking with terror.

“Don’t worry. You won’t feel any pain.” Long Hui said calmly.

“No… Please, no…!” Professor Shen frantically shook his head.

He tried to turn and bolt toward the exit, but against a cultivator of Long Hui’s calibre, he never stood a chance.

Long Hui effortlessly exerted his spiritual pressure to immobilise Professor Shen, causing the elder scientist to sink powerlessly to his knees. Placing his palm firmly against Professor Shen’s forehead, Long Hui closed his eyes, dove into the man’s sea of consciousness, and expertly wiped away every trace of their interrogation.

“You will not remember a single detail of this encounter.” Long Hui commanded in a low tone.

Once he confirmed that the memory wipe was complete, Long Hui released his grip and turned back to Yu Qi.

“Let’s go.” Long Hui said smoothly.

The two vanished into the shadows. Moments later, Professor Shen slowly blinked his eyes open, groggily coming to his senses. He looked around his office in confusion, surprised to find that he had somehow fallen asleep at his desk. Remembering his original task, he hastily picked up his satellite phone to report the emergency situation to Master Liang, dialling the encrypted number once more.

This time, the connection went through.

“Why are you calling me?” A raspy, husky voice answered from the receiver.

“Master Liang! We have a critical emergency!” Professor Shen blurted out, skipping all pleasantries. “The ancient tree has completely disappeared!”

“WHAT?!” Master Liang shrieked in absolute fury over the line. “What on earth are you fools doing over there?! How could a massive tree suddenly vanish into thin air?!”

Master Liang’s rage exploded through the speaker as he screamed at the top of his lungs. Professor Shen cowered in guilt, fully aware that as the chief administrator, the security breach fell entirely on his shoulders.

“Master Liang, I genuinely have no idea how it was taken.” Professor Shen stammered nervously.

“Seal off that chamber immediately! Let no one step foot inside! Guard that door with your life. I will return to the facility in two days!” Master Liang barked out his orders.

“Understood, Master Liang! I will carry out your orders right away!” Professor Shen promised, nodding repeatedly.

The line went dead. Sitting alone in his office, Professor Shen racked his brain, completely unable to identify who could have pulled off such an impossible theft. However, he began to suspect that the intruder was likely a powerful entity on par with Master Liang himself, especially since they had managed to bypass the complex formation door that was supposed to be accessible only by Master Liang. It had to be one of Master Liang’s rival enemies.
