Reincarnated as an Energy with a System

Chapter 2025: Transfer

Chapter 2025: Transfer

Since Naysha was a new System user in the galaxy, Ning wanted to see how she would navigate the upcoming days. It would be a lot of fun, and he wanted to watch from up close.

"I guess I’m joining the military academy, then," Ning told himself.

That was the best method of remaining close to Naysha and the others.

Ning smiled faintly.

"System, help me arrange an identity."

<What requirements should the identity meet?>

"Young enough to enroll in the military academy, nothing particularly important in the background, and believable enough that nobody bothers looking too closely."

The System began working immediately.

Ning let it handle the annoying details while he decided what sort of person he wanted to appear to be. His current body obviously did not fit the age of an ordinary new student, so he adjusted his appearance until he looked considerably younger.

He examined himself once the change was complete.

"Maybe a little older."

The System adjusted the projected records accordingly.

Ning changed his face slightly as well, enough that Naysha would not recognize the beggar she had met even if she happened to look directly at him. There was no need for an elaborate transformation. A younger face, cleaner appearance, different hair, and proper clothing would already make him look like an entirely different person.

He wore a purple jacket with interesting metal elements attached to it. His eyes were blue now, and he wore a thick watch around his wrist that did more than just tell time.

<Would you like a new identity or use one that already exists?>

"Uhh... New. I did the existing part back in Hyrron. It’s hard to navigate being someone you’re not," Ning said. "Make up a history for me and an explainable background. That’s all I need."

Ning had no interest in personally fabricating every answer.

"Handle all of that," he told the System. "Make it boring."

<Understood>

The System created the necessary background, filling in records where they needed to exist and giving him a history ordinary enough that there was little reason for anyone to care about it. Records all around the galaxy were updated without anyone noticing.

Suddenly, Ning came into existence when he never had before.

Ning reviewed the result briefly.

"This should work."

Once everything was prepared, he submitted his enrollment through the proper channels and allowed the System to take care of whatever minor inconsistencies remained. By the time the process was complete, Ning officially existed as an ordinary young man eligible to join Truimal’s military academy.

The whole situation felt strangely familiar.

Some time later, Ning stood outside the academy grounds. Officially, he had disembarked from an inbound shuttle and come over. But in reality, he had simply teleported there.

Students moved between buildings while military instructors and staff passed through secured entrances farther inside.

He had entered academies before. More than once, in fact. It had simply been a very long time since the last occasion.

Ning smiled as he started toward the entrance.

"This should be fun."

Ning did not have to wait outside the academy for very long before one of the secured entrances opened and a man in military gear walked out toward him.

The man was dressed in a dark uniform with protective plating over the chest and shoulders, while a helmet rested beneath one arm rather than over his head, making it easy for Ning to see the mildly curious expression on his face as he approached.

"You’re the transfer?" the man asked once he was close enough.

Ning straightened and gave him a proper salute. "Yes, sir."

The soldier looked him over for a moment, apparently comparing Ning with whatever information he had already received, before returning the salute and gesturing toward the entrance behind him.

"Come with me. Your enrollment has already been approved, so I’m mostly here to get you through security and show you where you need to be. Transfers this late into the program are uncommon, so don’t expect everyone to know what to do with you immediately."

"That’s fine with me," Ning said as he followed. "I’m sure I’ll figure things out quickly enough."

They passed through the academy entrance together, where several security systems scanned Ning before allowing him farther inside.

Beyond the gate, the academy was much larger than it had appeared from outside, with several broad training fields surrounded by tall buildings, enclosed walkways, vehicle bays, and distant structures large enough that Ning suspected some of them were meant for the giant machines used by the military.

The soldier noticed Ning looking around and said, "You’ll have time to learn the layout later. For now, you only need to remember where your dorm is, where your classes are, and where you’re supposed to report when someone tells you to report. Everything else can wait."

"Sounds simple enough."

The soldier glanced at him, perhaps surprised by the casual answer, but continued walking.

"As I said, we don’t get many transfers. Most students enter together, train together, and form their groups early, which means you’re coming in after everyone has already had time to decide who they like and who they don’t. Don’t take it personally if people aren’t immediately friendly."

Ning had spent enough time entering unfamiliar societies that the warning barely mattered to him.

"I don’t mind. I’m more than happy to make new friends."

The soldier gave him a brief look that suggested he was not sure whether Ning was being overly optimistic or simply strange.

"You say that now."

Their path eventually took them toward a larger administrative building near the center of the academy, where the soldier led Ning through several halls before stopping outside an office guarded by two uniformed personnel.

After confirming Ning’s identity, they were allowed inside.

The man waiting there was older than most of the soldiers Ning had seen so far, though still physically fit enough that age had done little to soften his presence.

His uniform carried significantly more decoration than those of the people outside, and Ning did not need the System to tell him that this was someone accustomed to having his orders followed.

The officer looked up from the information displayed before him.

"So you’re the transfer."
