Reincarnated as the Final Villain's Vessel

Chapter 239: The Hero Returns

Chapter 239: The Hero Returns

From my seat I stared at the mysterious man and Alicia standing near the bodies.

He was wearing a black uniform with a white mask on his face that hid all of his features, which made knowing his identity impossible..

And even though I could clearly see Alicia’s mouth moving and she was obviously talking, I couldn’t hear anything they were saying even though they were barely four meters away from me in the same closed room.

Like I always say, strange men always come with surprises... what am I thinking.

And through all these minutes of silent talking, the man kept giving me a look every now and then that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up, maybe he doesn’t like me, or Alicia is saying too much about me... I’m betting on the first one.

In the end after what felt like an eternity of terrifying silence, the man nodded as he gave Alicia a deep bow, and only then did the sounds finally come back to the room.

With a nod, Alicia turned and walked toward me before she took one last look at the auction hall. "Come on, time to go."

...

"So who was that scary guy," I asked as I walked through the familiar place while she answered shortly..

"The Emperor’s First Attendant."

Oh... that means she’d already informed the Imperial family... so why was she going on about how I had to take responsibility.

Yeah, there’s nobody better than an Asterval to clean up a corrupt Asterval’s mess.

"So why was he staring at me like that?... it was a little creepy."

Alicia kept walking without turning to me. "Hmm... he wanted to take you and open up your head and look inside it... that’s what he said, literally."

"Hehe... you’re joking, right?" I laughed, I thought she was going back to how she acted in that room, but the serious look in her eyes made me think about it again.

"So he’s not going to come into my room while I’m asleep or something like that, right?"

She shrugged. "Supposedly."

Supposedly?... I swear she almost smiled.

"Anyway, is it fine to leave the others behind?" I said that while I looked at the familiar house.

She’d already moved us to the Axis and here we were walking toward her residence at night... if my stomach wasn’t hurting from the tension, it would’ve been nice out.

She glanced at the missing sleeve of her dress. "They’ll go through some questioning before they get released tomorrow."

Okay, that makes sense... but what’s going to happen to me.

I mean I dropped a nuclear bomb in the Pillar of Blood’s face... maybe it’s more than just a nuke.

In the end I caused that base to be wiped out of existence, and who knows how many people died there, plus Medirin’s own condition.

If we say I’m the Pillar of Blood, what would I do?... obviously I’d find whoever caused this and skin them alive.

While Alicia pushed the door, I felt my stomach turning from these thoughts... maybe it would’ve been better to drink the blood, or let’s forget about that.

"So... what precautions do you think I should be taking now... you know, so your evil aunt doesn’t come into my lovely nightmares."

Alicia gave me a look over her shoulder with obvious annoyance at the word aunt. "They won’t be able to get you when I’m around."

"Hmm... that sounds reassuring, but what if you’re not around."

She shook her head as she went in, leaving me behind her.

...

In the end that night passed peacefully... nobody came into my dreams or into my room, obviously... at least as far as I know.

And just like Alicia said, the others came back in the morning while the auction was shut down and every bid that had been made was cancelled by the Imperial family.

They didn’t hide the fact that the Marquis was dead, and they made it a successful assassination by an unknown party.

His death affected the whole city and threw it into chaos... especially after it turned out Alicia’s last attack had been spotted from several cities, not just Valimont... but in a magical world, that phenomenon can be explained to the public easily.

In the end the auction was shut down indefinitely, while all of the Marquis’s property was seized by Asterval, and right now everyone who was connected to him is under investigation.

Even his heirs weren’t an exception, obviously.

Anyway, political matters are for politicians... and I’m not one, luckily.

Oh, and let me say, Alicia hasn’t been at the Axis these days... honestly that made my stomach turn a bit... let’s just say I don’t have any desire to sleep.

But the upside is that the Director himself was here somewhere... I didn’t see him but I felt the old man’s disappointing spirit.

I also got some small guarantees, so I can still move around freely.

"I’m telling you I’m the first one who saw it, I was guarding that corridor very carefully until I caught the red light through the window... that’s when Valia started crying and screaming that this was the end of the world!... but of course I handled the..."

I sipped from my coffee cup as I stared at Ivan sitting at the same table with me.

We were in one of the small gardens on the side of the Axis road... what am I doing here?

Well, I was just relaxing, until Ivan came out of nowhere and sat in front of me

"And you know, after that we got investigated by some scary masked men... but what the hell, do you know how shocked I was when I heard the Marquis was assassinated... it’s scary honestly even for me"

"You have dinner with him yesterday and find him dead today... that could’ve been us."

Yeah, that day everyone could’ve died too, if they hadn’t not cared about the people there... or maybe they’ve got something special saved for them.

I brought the hot coffee cup to my mouth and sipped while I propped my head up on my hand out of boredom. "Ivan, what’s the point of telling me all this?"

He blinked at me, his green eyes carrying some surprise. "Ah... of course there’s a point, I mean where were you when we were getting questioned"

I clicked my tongue. "That’s not the point... and I was also going through a separate questioning then I came back to the Axis before you guys"

"Tsk... that’s not good behavior, leaving your friends there"

I ignored him as I drank my lovely coffee, until his head moved slowly like he was following something behind me with his green eye.

He raised his hand as he pointed into the distance. "Isn’t that Elliot"

I raised an eyebrow and turned my head... with shiny golden hair and bright yellow eyes, he was wearing a white button-up shirt and dark-colored pants as he walked through the people.

He had that stupid smile on his face as he greeted the students around him like a hero back from war.

"Hmmm... what’s this idiot doing here."

I drank my coffee. "Let’s just ignore him."
