Chapter 2103: Mal’thir’s Defeat
Chapter 2103: Mal’thir’s Defeat
-----
"G-Gaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!"
Mal’thir screamed in utter agony as violent explosions of wind and thunder erupted from within his body. The forces tore him apart from the inside out, ripping his form into scattered pieces. His glowing soul and core struggled desperately to hold everything together, while his divine protection barely functioned.
"H-How is this possible?!" he cried.
"He broke through the divine barrier created by the divine protection blessing!"
"This cannot be!"
"Someone...! Storm Sovereign...! Save me— Ah!"
His eyes widened in horror as he realized the main healer was already locked in combat high above. While Arafunn had kept him occupied, Ninhursag had suppressed the other monsters by slicing the air and unleashing an endless symphony of wind and thunder.
Unable to stop her, Ninhursag moved like lightning and rushing winds using her son’s techniques. She reached the skies and clashed directly with the Storm Sovereign. Channeling all her beast forms into her Chimera Queen transformation, she struck before he could heal Mal’thir.
"Storm Axe Arts – Second Form: Storming Guillotine!"
CLAAASH!
Her giant divine axe sliced cleanly through the Storm Sovereign’s neck. His massive snake-like head fell from the sky with a look of pure shock. Blood sprayed wildly from the headless body. Before it could crash to the ground, Ninhursag’s aura devoured and tore it apart completely. Golden scales and snake-like eyes merged into her Chimera Queen form as black, thunderous clouds swirled around her, her power surging dramatically.
Mal’thir gasped, clenching his teeth in pain as his remains splattered across the ground. His core was cracked and his soul burned in agony under Ninhursag’s divine power. The curse of Lolth was almost completely stripped from him.
"A-aaaahhh! Someone... save me...! You good-for-nothing... bastards...!"
He watched helplessly as the remaining monsters screamed in torment. Ninhursag and Arafunn descended upon them, finishing them off one by one. Arafunn’s sword struck once and then a thousand times, creating a deadly melody of slashing winds and piercing thunder. Ninhursag’s raw power had grown titanic after consuming two empowered bosses. She slammed down the hydra, allowing Arafunn to cut it into thousands of pieces.
Yet one survivor remained. The Hive Empress Vesara barely held onto her giant arachnid form. Most of her legs had been severed, and her body was pierced with glowing weapons made of wind and divine power. She leaked dark blood while protectively clutching something inside her abdomen.
"H-Hive Empress...!" Mal’thir called out desperately through Soul Speech. "Here...! Please... heal me...!"
"Lord Mal’thir... you are... the most intelligent of us all... the strongest... the most... beautiful..." her jaws opened slowly. "Please... allow me..."
"W-Wait! What are you doing?! WAIT!" he screamed in horror as she began to devour him piece by piece, even consuming his soul.
"Allow me to... give you... with my last remaining power... I will use it... my last... ability..." Her eyes turned completely black. She collapsed to the ground, motionless and dead.
However, something stirred within her large abdomen. A black, gold, and green shell as hard as the strongest metals slowly emerged, falling to the floor and hiding beneath her corpse, unseen by the others.
RUMBLE!
The Hydra was the last to fall. Its ridiculous regenerative ability kept it moving even as it was torn apart repeatedly. Only when its core and soul were fully annihilated did the cursed monster finally stop moving.
"We did it. They are all dead...!" Ninhursag sighed in relief. "T-This was too much...! Haaa... Haaa..." She gasped heavily for air, her massive frame trembling with exhaustion.
Arafunn, still in his new form, remained tense. He gazed sharply into the horizon. "Ninhursag, there is no time to rest. Stand up and prepare to fight, my friend. They are coming."
"Already?!" Ninhursag rose quickly. She opened a dimensional ring, retrieved an elixir, and drank it in one gulp. "No way...! More of them...!"
Several new boss monsters from the Underground Labyrinth emerged once again. Each possessed distinct shapes and forms, their appearances evolved and their power greatly enhanced by the curse of Lolth.
Arafunn, along with the heroes of his generation, had once challenged this accursed trial dungeon. Every hero party was forced to clear it. From Floor 50 onward, the monsters became Tier 7 and above, with the final boss reaching Tier 10. Through immense effort and combined strength, they had broken through and triumphed, earning the title of full-fledged heroes qualified to travel to the Demon Continent and confront the Demon King Army.
Because of that experience, Arafunn recognized every single one of these bosses. He remembered their origins clearly. Some had once been easy and forgettable creatures. Mal’thir had not even been made of flesh but resembled a living statue or golem. The Storm Sovereign had simply been a huge snake, far from the near god-like being it had become.
But now, even the weakest bosses had evolved to ridiculous levels of strength.
"I shall bring salvation to all of you, pitiful humans... Come to me, come to me!" From Floor 11, the Ruined Sanctuary, the Fallen High Priestess Vellara stepped forward. The once-holy elven priestess-shaped statue golem was now fused with a giant floating crystal orb. She possessed six arms and chanted corrupted runic spells continuously. Her aura surged powerfully, and her golem-like body had transformed into living flesh, making her appear as a true elf rather than a mere statue.
"At long last, we possess not only intelligence but true freedom! Our power is immense and superior. Let us feast on these pitiful humans and raise an indestructible army of the dead!" From Floor 12, the Bone Catacombs, the Ossified Dragon Lich Valthorak emerged. He rumbled with a heavy nether aura, spreading darkness and flames of death with every step. The massive skeleton of a wild dragon monster had fused with thousands of bones from other creatures, forming extra wings and heads. Purple crystals glowed within its ribcage, radiating powerful curses. This beast had once been a mere wild dragon monster, unlike the intelligent and divine kind such as Ignatius, his brother, or the Dragon King.
