Chapter 2107: The Moving Castle
Chapter 2107: The Moving Castle
-----
"OOOOOHHHHHH!"
An endless sea of undead monsters surged forward, the weakest among them at Tier 7 while the strongest approached Tier 10. They flooded half the city in moments, tearing down everything in their path as entire buildings crumbled and collapsed under the overwhelming assault.
Zack watched the chaos unfold with widened eyes. His Melody remained focused on a limited area to avoid harming innocents, but he hesitated to expand it toward the main horde. If he stretched his power too far, he could not be certain it would spare the civilians caught in the middle.
From three different routes, hundreds of thousands of monsters poured in, led by powerful bosses. Every time Zack destroyed a wave, more appeared to take their place in an apparently endless tide. Meanwhile, Luck concentrated on defending the barrier. As he did so, he noticed strange activity coming from the direction of the castle.
"Huh? What’s happening over there?"
RUMBLE!
The castle began to move on its own.
Inside its halls, panic had taken hold. The nobles knelt desperately, begging the Dwarf King to flee.
"Your Majesty, you cannot stay in the castle!"
"It is too dangerous! You will die!"
"Please reconsider! We must abandon Evercraft and start anew in the elven capital. The elven King and nobles will surely welcome us... we are victims!"
"Victims?!" the King of Evercraft roared, his voice echoing with fury. "You are all a disgrace to this country! You are nobles, sons of powerful ancient dwarven heroes who fought in wars against the armies of the old Demon Kings. Each of them carved their names into dwarven history. And this is how you behave now? How many times over the last century have I told you bastards to stop lazing around and train? Why is none of you strong enough to defeat even a single monster?!"
"Nobles are different! We are a privileged class!" one protested. "Why are you even fighting us?!"
"It’s the civilians who protect us. It has always been this way!"
"Or the heroes, yeah!"
The King of Evercraft rose from his throne and strode toward the three cowering nobles. With a single, rapid swing of his hand, he delivered a powerful triple slap.
SLAAAP!
"Disgraceful bastards. You are not even worth the oxygen you breathe," he declared, his voice calm yet burning with intense anger. "Leave now!"
"Gyaaaahhh!"
The three nobles screamed and fled immediately, leaving the King alone with his son, Gimli, who was frantically working on the castle’s internal circuits.
"Gimli, how is it? Is the Ancient Guardian ready?! We’ve taken too long!"
"It’s almost ready, father! Now...! Please, lend me your aura! Let’s awaken it...!"
"Yes... We dwarves will show the heroes that we are not cowards, let alone weak!"
The King and Prince Gimli roared together. Their potent auras, infused with the elements of Metal and Earth, spread throughout the entire castle, causing it to tremble as if it had come to life.
RUMBLE!
The castle suddenly rose from the ground, shocking everyone outside who had paused to catch their breath amid the destruction and chaos beyond the barrier.
Luck, who had activated his Dual Divine Beast Spirit Form to conserve energy and fight without end, stared into the distance in awe. "What the...?!"
"You shouldn’t have distracted yourself, hero!"
A monstrous boss laughed menacingly. A giant claw made of black obsidian formed above Luck, but before it could strike, his eyes widened at the sight of a colossal black dragon golem—the Obsidian Drake Ruler of Floor 35 of the tower.
However, a brilliant white light suddenly surged across the battlefield.
"?!"
Both the mechanical dragon golem and Luck were left shocked and perplexed as a massive beam shot out of nowhere and pierced straight through the golem’s chest, leaving a gigantic hole behind.
Its core had been completely destroyed.
"G-GAH...! W-WHA.... IMPO... SSIBLE..."
BOOOMMM!!!
The giant golem exploded into countless pieces. Luck turned around, his eyes widening in disbelief. The castle was gone. Or rather, it had transformed.
The Evercraft Castle had risen into the skies, now three times its original size. It had become a massive steampunk golem with a large, rotund torso, four gigantic arms, and four powerful legs. Endless streams of magical steam poured from its body. A powerful, glowing core in its lower torso, fueled by the combined mana and auras of the King and Prince, powered the entire machine and drove it forward.
RUMBLE!
Each step of the absolute titan made the ground tremble violently, causing people to jump in shock. The colossal construct strode out of the barrier and brought its massive foot down, crushing countless monsters in a single motion.
CRAAASH!
A massive cannon extended from its structure and fired the same devastating beam into the distance. The attack one-shotted a Tier 10 Boss Monster enhanced by the curse and blasted several more bosses along with hordes of lesser undead.
BOOOM!
BOOOM!
BOOOM!
BOOOM!
"Gahahahaha! Take that, you damn bastards! Evercraft won’t go down without a fight!"
"Father, calm down. We must preserve our energy. Let’s use proper fighting techniques instead."
"You got it!"
The titan’s four hands retrieved gigantic mechanized weapons that had once served as towers and buildings. They were all cleverly disguised parts of the castle’s structure. An axe, a sword, a lance, and a hammer—each bronze-colored, covered in glowing magic circuits and mechanical components, and radiating magical steam along with dozens of internal cores.
"LET’S DO IT!"
The Evercraft King joined the battle, clashing against an entire army of monsters on his own. Five powerful bosses stood in his path, attacking with magic, healing their allies, and conjuring barriers.
Yet the transformed castle possessed its own protective barrier. It absorbed devastating damage and then swung its titanic weapons downward with overwhelming force.
"GO TO HELL!!!"
The King roared as he pressed buttons and shifted controls inside the command center. The gigantic weapons descended, crushing the bosses and countless monsters into nothing but meat paste.
This was no ordinary golem. It represented the ultimate pinnacle of dwarven magic engineering, built upon the very technology of the gods themselves. It was a modern reproduction of the ancient "Surface Cleaners"—mechanical golems forged by divine power that once cleansed the planet’s surface of hostile threats eons ago.
It had taken the Evercraft Family Line over five hundred years to create this masterpiece. The project began long before the Elven King unified the dwarves. Originally intended as the ultimate weapon to secure victory against rival dwarven factions, the current King’s grandfather later converted the massive machine into the royal castle after unification. Over the centuries, successive generations upgraded, reinforced, and improved it.
They had never had the chance to use it in battle until now. Three generations of continuous upgrades and enhancements flowed into this titan. Its very core contained the mana, spirit energy, and soul essence of the King’s grandfather, his father, and now his own and his son’s as well.
"IT WORKS...! HAHAHAHA! IT WORKS!!!"
And so the King laughed with triumphant joy.
