Chapter 2200: Flamie’s Last Goodbye, Ignatius’ Divine Evolution!

"Just what is this dragon? Is he a damn comedian?" I laughed while shaking my head, watching my father sigh deeply and cross his arms in resignation.

"He really hasn’t changed one bit!" my mother said, a fond smile appearing on her face despite the tears still lingering in her eyes.

"Not at all, hah!" my father let out a small, reluctant laugh of his own, the tension in his shoulders easing just a little.

"He’s really freaking insane, huh?" my brother wondered aloud, staring at the floating spirit with a mixture of respect and disbelief. "I never thought he’d joke about his own death like that..."

"If you can’t laugh about yourself you can’t really make people laugh. That’s my motto," Flamie said cheerfully as he flew closer toward Ignatius. "Okay buddy... I think I’m ready."

"I don’t know... what do we do?" Ignatius wondered, his ethereal form flickering with uncertainty.

"Relax...!" Flamie said gently, reaching out and touching Ignatius’s forehead with both of his small hands while staring deeply into his eyes. "I’ll pass on the torch now... and use whatever little power I still have left here... to evolve into forms I never could, got it? Make sure to become the biggest, meanest dragon spirit to ever be born!"

Ignatius nodded with growing resolve. "I promise!"

"That’s the spirit!" Flamie said, his voice growing softer as he began to slowly turn into pure soul fire. He looked back at Allan one last time, tears shining in his glowing eyes. "Bye-bye, partner! Take care!"

"...Flamie!" my father cried out, his voice cracking, but he forced himself not to move forward. He shook his head and then nodded firmly, putting on the bravest face he could. "Yeah...! I-I got this!" He forced a confident smile and raised a thumbs-up, determined not to make Flamie’s final moments sad. "Just go away already! You’ve said enough bad jokes!"

"Heheheh~! Oof, what a tough crowd! See yaaaaaa~!"

FLUOSH!

Flamie quickly disappeared into swirling particles of red and gold soul flame energy. The glowing fragments floated forward and entered Ignatius’s ethereal spirit soul, completely fusing with him in a brilliant cascade of light.

"...!"

Ignatius’s eyes widened dramatically. I felt it too through our connection — countless memories flooding into his mind all at once. Memories of a life he had never lived, experiences he had never personally had... he was seeing Flamie’s entire Story unfold inside him.

And this Story began shaping his power into completely new ideas and forms. His Aura surged outward with sudden intensity. His Spiritual form erupted with raw strength and started to grow completely solid for the first time.

Bone, muscles, organs — things he had never truly possessed before — began to manifest out of thin air. Ignatius was not simply becoming more solid. He was truly being reborn.

BA-DUM!

BA-DUM!

BA-DUM!

A giant dragon heart, completely physical this time, began beating powerfully within his chest. It solidified along with thick blood that started flowing through newly formed vessels and more.

He grew a complete skeleton of dense bone, layers of tough skin, and sharp, solid scales that locked together like living armor. This was no longer the temporary solidification he had been able to achieve as a spirit for ages.

No. Ignatius... had truly just become a living dragon once more.

"W-What’s happening...!" I muttered in awe, staring up at the rapid changes. "Ignatius, you...! You’re becoming a dragon! A real living one?!"

"Insane...!" my father said, his voice filled with wonder. "Is this what Flamie’s power did?!"

"I can’t believe it. From a soul he became a spirit, and from a spirit... he became a dragon?" my mother wondered, covering her mouth with both hands.

"Hah... Now this is amazing...!" Zephyrus said, his eyes shining. "Did he... literally get revived?!"

However, it was far more than a simple revival. Something even greater was taking place.

RUMBLE!

FLUOSH!

An enormous pillar of pure divine flames surged upward and pierced the skies above us for a long moment. Ignatius’s silhouette grew larger and larger within the fire as he rapidly stepped forward, fully encompassed by the roaring flames.

When the light finally settled, he stood before us as an enormous, fully realized Adult Red Dragon. When my dad had originally slain him long ago, he had still been an adolescent — barely a young adult. But now?

It was completely different.

He stood nearly fifty meters tall.

His body was packed to the brim with thick, powerful muscles covered in interlocking red, orange, and dark red scales that gleamed like polished armor under the light.

An enormous, thick neck full of corded muscle supported sharp-fanged jaws filled with razor-sharp teeth. Six eyes — three on each side — glowed in shifting shades of gold, orange, and deep red.

A pair of beautiful crescent horns of pure crimson grew high into the sky, seeming almost to pierce the clouds. A pair of massive, majestic wings stretched wide, thick and strong, packed with heavy bone and muscle, lined with sharp claws and smaller horns along the edges.

He had an enormously long tail that was pure solid muscle from base to tip.

The temperature radiating from his body was immense, like standing head-first in front of an active volcano. Our faces could barely resist the waves of heat he emitted with every breath.

Flames surged from his jaws as he slowly opened them.

For a brief moment we all felt a natural instinctive fear and took a step back. He looked almost completely unrecognizable in this new, perfected form.

But then he smiled — a clear, familiar smile that still carried the same spirit we had always known.

"I see... I’ve finally evolved. And the key for that was... a Dragon’s Life," he said, his deep voice resonating with newfound power. "I’ve consumed the Life of a Dragon, his Memories, his Soul... That has reminded my own existence that I too am a dragon. And not just any dragon."

He fully awakened his Divinity. Power overflowed from him in every direction while he still carried the deep Spiritual Power he had gained as a spirit. He was no longer the same as his siblings. He was something far more special than any of them.

He was the first dragon that had died and been turned into a spirit... and from that spirit form, he had been revived once more into a true living dragon, while still carrying all the accumulated power of a divine spirit after this final evolution.
