Chapter 334: EPIPHANY I

Chapter 334: EPIPHANY I

"What’s the status?" Chen Ye asked, focusing on the command control monitor.

The screen glowed with a soft blue hue, casting flickering shadows across his stern face in the dimly lit room, data streams scrolling rapidly like digital rivers flowing toward an inevitable conclusion.

"We have lost communication with a sentinel some hours ago. We have reason to believe the sentinel has been destroyed by the enemy we are searching for," a report came to Chen Ye from a communication device.

The voice crackled slightly over the static, the urgency evident in the clipped tones, the air in the control center thickening with unspoken tension as operators exchanged uneasy glances.

"I see. Tighten communication and interactions between sentinels. Make quick response the next time communication is lost from a sentinel," Chen Ye instructed, his voice steady and authoritative, fingers drumming lightly on the console’s edge, the metallic surface cool under his touch amid the hum of machinery.

"Yes, sir!"

"Sir! We just received an update that communication with a sentinel has gone to smoke!" A report came quickly seconds after Chen Ye had finalized the decision.

The alert blared softly from the speakers, red indicators flashing on the monitor, the room’s atmosphere shifting from controlled calm to heightened alertness, hearts pounding in unison with the urgent beeps.

"Where is it? Send forces toward the sentinel to keep the enemy at bay before my arrival," Chen Ye instructed, rising to his feet.

His chair scraped against the floor with a sharp echo, his posture straightening like a coiled spring, the weight of command settling heavier on his broad shoulders as he scanned the tactical displays.

"Yes, sir."

"Sir. Your brother has accepted the request to provide support. It seems he is close to the sentinel," the soldier reporting informed, the words carrying a mix of relief and concern, fingers hovering over the comm panel as updates flickered across the screen.

"That guy. Tell him to fall back. He is not to engage till I arrive!" Chen Ye ordered, his voice raised.

Frustration edged his tone, brows furrowing deeply, the vein in his temple pulsing visibly under the harsh overhead lights.

"He’s not responding to orders, sir!"

The reply came after some seconds of silence, the pause heavy with implication, the control room falling into a tense hush broken only by the soft whir of cooling fans.

"That fool just wants to die so badly," Chen Ye snorted, walking away from the room.

His boots thudded against the metallic floor with purposeful strides, the door hissing open behind him, cool air rushing in from the corridor like a sigh of resignation.

Arriving outside the door, he found Reign standing alone, still emitting the disposition of the overlord he was.

Reign’s presence loomed like a shadow in the dimly lit hallway, his armored form radiating an aura of unyielding power, the faint hum of energy fields surrounding him adding to the intimidating silence.

"And where are you going?" Reign’s voice rumbled low, echoing slightly off the walls, his eyes narrowing under the hooded brow, arms crossed over his massive chest.

"I’m sure you heard our conversation. I strongly believe our common enemy is making his move. You are free to tag along if you wish," Chen Ye answered, his tone clipped, glancing back briefly as he continued forward, the corridor’s lights casting long shadows that danced along the bulkheads.

While retaining his silence, Reign followed behind Chen Ye, his heavy footsteps syncing with Chen Ye’s, the air between them thick with unspoken alliance, the overlord’s presence a silent promise of overwhelming force.

---

Aaron arrived at the sentinel.

The massive structure loomed before him like a metallic behemoth suspended in the void, its hull scarred from cosmic debris, faint energy shields shimmering like a protective veil under the starlight.

He isolated the space of the sentinel, cutting its contact off from the outside world.

The bubble of distorted reality formed with a subtle ripple, the stars beyond warping slightly, the hum of isolation sealing the fortress in a pocket of silence, communications fizzling into nothingness.

That way, the sentinel could not request backup from anyone.

The cut-off was absolute, the air within the bubble thickening with trapped signals, alarms blaring internally but echoing only within the confined space.

"Attention, everyone. I’m Aaron Highborn, and I will love to take the lives of everyone here," Aaron announced loudly within the sentinel, his voice cutting through every corner of the space.

The words boomed like thunder rolling through corridors, amplified by his will, reaching ears in distant chambers and causing hearts to skip beats amid the sudden chaos.

This time, Aaron decided to attack one of the main sentinels.

The choice was deliberate, the structure bustling with activity, its defenses layered like an onion of steel and energy, the thrill of challenge quickening his pulse.

The sentinel he attacked was one having high numbers of destruction titans in command and within the battalion.

Their presence radiated raw power, the air vibrating with their latent destruction element, massive forms moving with purposeful menace through the halls.

The commanders within the sentinel sparked to life, orders flying out.

Shouts echoed through comms, holographic displays flaring to life with red alerts, the organized frenzy transforming the fortress into a hive of coordinated defense.

The soldiers, as quick as possible, prepared themselves.

They acted quickly in organizing themselves and moving into formation and posts in order to neutralize the threat.

Armor clanked, weapons hummed to life, boots pounding against metal floors in rhythmic urgency, the scent of ozone from charging energy rifles filling the confined spaces.

"You. To think you are foolish enough to show yourself here. You will regret the choice of yours," the destruction titan in charge of the sentinel informed Aaron, standing before Aaron with his battalion standing neatly behind him.

His voice boomed like grinding stone, towering form casting a long shadow that engulfed Aaron, the air around him crackling with suppressed fury.

His voice was loud, his entire form overshadowing Aaron.
