Chapter 409: DEVIL OF SEDUCTION
Chapter 409: DEVIL OF SEDUCTION
The gods and dragons took the necessary permissions from the Sovereign authorities, formal nods exchanged in the bustling corridors of the court.
Then they took their leave, falling in step alongside Aaron, who had seamlessly rejoined his original group as Jordan.
The transition felt natural, the weight of their new alliance hidden beneath casual postures.
Aaron approached Lilian. "So, when are we leaving?" he asked, his voice steady and unassuming.
Lilian turned, her eyes widening slightly in surprise.
"Jordan. You’re here..., with company, I see." She took a quick peek behind him at the gods and dragons tagging along, their imposing forms standing out amid the escorts like wolves among sheep.
Thor’s hammer hung at his side, humming faintly; Loki’s smirk carried a hint of playful danger.
"Oh, and my friends will be tagging along," Aaron informed her smoothly.
"Nick needed them during the assessment, so I called in some favors."
Lilian paused for a moment, assessing the group with a leader’s sharp eye, the raw power radiating from them, the subtle tension in their stances.
Then she nodded. "Sure. Let’s leave now."
She accepted without further question, turning to lead the group toward the teleportation gate.
The massive archway loomed ahead, its frame etched with glowing runes that pulsed like veins of starlight, humming with latent energy.
The air grew charged as they approached, a faint ozone scent tickling their noses, the promise of instant translocation hanging heavy.
One by one, they stepped forward, boots echoing on the stone, ready to vanish into the swirl of light and reemerge in the filament cluster.
The group returned to Aiz, the familiar galaxy unfolding before them like an old, welcoming embrace.
"Welcome back," Nick said, approaching with a practiced smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes.
"I’m sure you all must be too tired after the journey."
Aaron fixed him with a steady gaze, his posture relaxed but his tone sharp.
"You. You have quite the short memory to not make a reservation for me."
The words caught everyone present by surprise, a ripple of tension spreading through the group like a sudden chill.
Lilian raised an eyebrow, while the escorts exchanged quick glances, the air growing thicker with unspoken questions.
Nick stared at Aaron, irritation building visibly on his face, his jaw tightening, brows furrowing deeply.
He finally realized what he had been missing with Aaron gone: the constant undercurrent of challenge, the subtle defiance that grated against his authority.
"Everyone is subject to mistakes," Nick replied evenly, though his voice carried a edge like sharpened steel. "And mind how you talk to the governor."
"As if I care," Aaron shot back, his words casual, unyielding, hanging in the air like a quiet provocation.
Nick’s gaze hardened, his hands clutching into fists at his sides.
The vein in his temple pulsed faintly, and for a moment, the urge to punch Aaron right in the face simmered just beneath the surface, hot and insistent.
Then he exhaled slowly, forcing composure.
"Thor. Loki. Rhaigon. Ignis. Welcome," he said calmly, turning to the gods and dragons with a courteous stretch of his hand, offering handshakes one by one.
"It’s an honor to have you visiting my province."
The group responded with nods and brief grips, Thor’s firm and steady, Loki’s light and mocking, Rhaigon’s warm with draconic heat, Ignis’s quick and flickering like embers.
Aaron stepped back slightly. "I fulfilled my end of the bargain.
Now if you’ll excuse me," he informed Nick, then strolled away without waiting for a response.
His boots echoed softly on the polished floors, fading into the distance.
Nick watched the retreating figure, his expression unreadable, a mask of neutrality hiding whatever thoughts churned beneath.
Frustration lingered in his posture, shoulders tense, but he let it go.
"Please come this way," he said to the gods and dragons, gesturing ahead.
"I’ll lead you to your special chambers. An assistant of mine will be at your service for the entire duration of the military assessment."
He guided them through the corridors, the air filled with the low hum of machinery and distant conversations.
To Nick, Jordan had already outlived his usefulness.
Wherever he went now was of no concern, a loose end neatly tied off in his mind.
---
Lilith was alone, reclining on a lone star that hung suspended in the void, surrounded by the desolate husks of dead planets.
Their barren surfaces cracked and shadowed, orbiting in silent decay, while the star’s once-vibrant core dimmed gradually under her presence.
Its light intensity faded by the minute, the fiery corona cooling to a muted glow, casting long, eerie shadows across the empty expanse.
"Who are you?" Lilith asked, sitting upright from her lying position with fluid grace.
Her dark hair cascaded like midnight silk, and her eyes, deep, enigmatic pools, fixed on the intruder.
"Jordan Hayes," Aaron replied, standing a few meters away from the star.
The heat from its surface warmed his skin faintly, a subtle prickling sensation.
"You must be Lilith. Pardon me for invading your privacy. I just came upon you by coincidence."
"That’s fine," she said, her voice smooth and inviting.
"Just having a sunbath with nothing to do." A mysterious smile played on her lips, hinting at depths unspoken.
Aaron nodded. "I see. Then I should be on my way and not take too much of your privacy," he muttered, a faint smile touching his own lips, polite yet measured.
"You can stay," Lilith replied, her tone shifting to something more intriguing.
"Jordan Hayes, right? You have actually piqued my interest for a while now."
She moved toward him with deliberate elegance, her smile enchanting, drawing him in like a siren’s call.
The void around them seemed to still, the distant stars holding their breath.
"And why is that?" Aaron asked, willing to play along, his voice steady amid the growing tension.
Lilith grew closer, step by step, until Aaron could feel the warmth of her breath on his skin, soft, teasing, carrying a faint scent of ancient spice and forbidden secrets.
Gently and softly, she leaned in, her lips brushing his neck in a caress that sent a shiver down his spine.
Then she moved slowly and deliberately to his ear, taking a seductive bite, light, playful, yet charged with intent.
"You remind me of someone I know," Lilith whispered, her words a velvet murmur.
