Chapter 464 464: SOVEREIGNS' BATTLE IX
Chapter 464 464: SOVEREIGNS' BATTLE IX
Of course, Aaron, who had constantly been devouring parts of the universe was easily infected by the biological weapon.
The same resonance that had spread the plague to every dragon and elf had found its way into him through the countless fragments of cosmic essence he had consumed over time.
"Not now, not now. I can't be weak now," Aaron muttered under his breath, fighting hard to not show a single sign of weakness.
His muscles trembled faintly beneath his skin.
A cold sweat broke out along his spine.
His mystic eyes flickered once, the gold dimming for a split second before he forced them steady again.
"Hmm? You were also affected by the biological weapon," Baal said, prudent as ever.
He quickly noticed the faintest change in Aaron's attitude, the tiniest tightening of the jaw, the almost imperceptible hitch in his breathing. "How convenient for me."
"Guess Dracula is all we will be dealing with after all," Baal muttered, letting go of Vorth's heart.
The organ floated in space, dark blood pooling around it in a glistening stain.
Once more, the aura around him intensified.
And for the first time in a long while, Baal let go of every restraint shackling him and released his sovereign strength completely.
The air grew thick, oppressive, as if gravity itself had doubled.
His skin glowed with infernal light, veins pulsing black and red.
What was left of the domain world shattered instantly on the release of Baal's aura.
Cracks raced across the sky like lightning in reverse, reality fracturing into jagged shards that fell to the ground and dissolved into dust.
The third eye on his forehead glowed stronger, with high intensity, blazing like a captured star, casting harsh shadows across his face.
A crown made of demonic energy materialized on his forehead, twisted horns of pure shadow and flame weaving together in a jagged halo that hummed with malevolent power.
Seven horns manifested on his back along his spine, curving upward like the vertebrae of some ancient beast, each one dripping with dark ichor that sizzled on contact with the air.
On his hand, his divine weapon, Flesh Eater, materialized, a grotesque blade of writhing tendons and bone that seemed to breathe, edges undulating as if hungry for skin.
Baal's transformation placed a burden on the universe.
The subtle change in the air, the oppressive feeling within it, like breathing through wet cloth, proved exactly that.
Stars flickered in the distant sky, their light dimming as cosmic energy was siphoned away.
The others followed Baal's suit, completely releasing their sovereign strength.
One by one, auras exploded outward, Zeus's lightning becoming a storm that blotted out the sun, Lucifer's shadows swallowing light in hungry gulps, Seraphim's holy radiance searing the ground clean.
The increased number of released strengths placed even more burden on the universe.
The fabric of reality groaned audibly, like a ship's hull under pressure.
The universe faced great strain, cracks appearing around space, thin, glowing fissures that leaked void energy, spreading like veins in cracked glass.
The mana within the universe even began to subtly diminish, the radiance from the stars reducing to dull twinkles, as if the cosmos itself was fading under the weight.
The effect didn't reduce but subtly increased as time moved on, cracks widening, mana thinning, colors desaturating in the air.
"Use that to temporarily power yourself, and avoid using the universe mana," Baal informed, holding a weird-looking pill between his fingers.
It pulsed with a sickly green glow, edges writhing like living worms.
"Should be polluted right now by the crazy guy."
In one sweeping move, he swallowed the pill, his aura increasing even further, exploding outward in a wave that flattened nearby debris.
The pill he swallowed gave a demonic vibe just like his own aura, dark, corrupting, leaving a foul aftertaste in the air for anyone near.
The others followed suit, swallowing strange-looking pills like Baal.
Each one swallowed theirs with grim determination, auras flaring brighter.
The pills had similar characteristics to their mana attributes, Zeus's crackling with electric sparks, Lucifer's shrouded in inky blackness, Seraphim's glowing with faint holy light.
"Seems they were well prepared to battle against you," Aaron forced out with a smile, the biological weapon putting him through so much pain.
It burned in his veins like acid, soul-deep agony that made every breath a struggle.
"Doesn't matter," Dracula informed.
"They are going to die either way."
"Cool. I need a break," Aaron said.
"Can you hold them for as long as you can till I deal with this discomfort I'm feeling?" He opened a rift to the sanctuary, the portal's edges flickering with void energy.
"I can," Dracula informed. "But you have to know that I'm not going to spare them."
"Yh. I also don't want them," Aaron said.
"They are better off dead. As for the rest army, I will provide support." The rift behind him grew wider, swirling larger with a low hum.
And from the rift, his allies joined the battle fray.
Alice emerged first, blade drawn and eyes sharp.
Michael followed, aura crackling with power. Isobel stepped through next, shadows coiling around her.
Every single capable fighter within the sanctuary poured out, warriors, mages, beasts, forming ranks with disciplined precision.
"I will be back," Aaron informed, diving into the sanctuary. The rift swallowed him whole.
---
"Are you sure this is going to work?" Aaron asked the system, sitting cross-legged in his special chambers within his castle in the sanctuary.
[Affirmative. The biological weapon works by harming the soul of those it lashes to. And weirdly, its source is from a cultivation world. So if you can use it to your advantage, you might be able to heal your soul further and awaken at least one talent.] The system explained.
"And how does that work?" Aaron asked.
[Think of it like a vaccine.]
"But it's alive."
[That's the point. Now you will have to kill the biological weapon, and allow your soul treat it like a vaccine to heal you.]
"I see. Well, here goes nothing," Aaron muttered, closing his eyes as he focused.
The task was simple: enter into his soul form, kill the biological weapon, and then allow his soul to do the rest.
It would have been impossible naturally, the part of sending his consciousness into his soul.
But with his omnipotent abilities within his sanctuary and vampire bloodlines, especially his first ever awakened bloodline, Twilight, it was all but possible.
After all, the bloodline had once done it before.
Aaron dove into his soul, allowing his vampire bloodline to lead the way.
Calm and carefully, he annihilated every biological weapon, the task easy with his omnipotence.
