Chapter 565: TRACKING DISTRIBUTION CHAIN

Chapter 565: TRACKING DISTRIBUTION CHAIN

The realization settled in like a death sentence.

The merchant stared at Nightflame, fear fully taking hold.

He had messed with the wrong person.

He had chosen the wrong target.

"Please... spare me," the merchant pleaded, his voice breaking as he dropped any pretense of dignity.

"There," Nightflame said indifferently, finishing up as he printed everything he needed. "I’ve found what I came for."

With a casual motion, he stored the laptop into his shadow space, as though it were nothing more than a trivial item.

"I have more information," the merchant rushed out, panic flooding his words. "Stored in my head. You will definitely need it."

"It’s alright," Nightflame replied, his tone as calm as ever. "I’ve already processed every piece of information in your head."

He paused briefly, his gaze settling on the trembling man before him.

"As a bonus," he continued, "I’ve placed a command in your subconscious. The moment you stop seeing me... you’ll do the needful."

The merchant’s face drained of all color.

"Please don’t—"

Before the merchant could say anything, Nightflame time-stepped, his figure vanishing from sight as though he had never been there.

"Shit!" the merchant groaned, panic flashing across his face.

His body suddenly moved against his will.

Slowly, stiffly, he turned his gaze toward the tablet screen still in his hand.

His fingers trembled, yet he could not stop himself.

It was as though an invisible force had seized control of him, overriding every instinct to resist.

The next moment—

He disintegrated.

His body broke apart into nothingness, erased completely without leaving even a trace behind.

Far away, Nightflame was already gone, heading toward his next destination with unwavering focus.

He hadn’t been able to extract the location of the Mad One from the merchant.

That information was far too scarce... far too well hidden.

The Mad One operated through a complex and layered distribution chain, one designed with precision to ensure that no connection could ever be traced back to him.

Every link was isolated. Every transaction obscured.

Finding him directly was nearly impossible.

But Nightflame had no intention of searching blindly.

Instead, he chose a different approach.

He would reverse-engineer the chain.

Start from the very bottom, from the consumer, and work his way upward, dismantling each layer until he reached the source.

Until he reached the producer.

And that path led him to his next destination.

Teglon.

The home of defect titans.

Aqua, meanwhile, was forced to remain in school alongside Adrian, maintaining the façade of an ordinary student.

"Alright, students. We have a new addition to our class—Ace," the teacher announced, gesturing toward Aqua.

Aqua gave a small nod before taking a seat beside a girl near the middle row, his expression calm and composed.

The class proceeded as normal.

But Aqua’s mind was elsewhere.

He spent the time carefully devising the most efficient method to gather information about the planet he now found himself in.

After some thought, he arrived at a conclusion.

The restroom.

Slipping away during a break, Aqua entered quietly and approached the running sink.

The steady flow of water caught his attention, its faint sound echoing softly in the empty space.

He reached out.

The water responded instantly.

Connecting with it, he infused it with life, shaping it into a sentient entity—a water spirit.

"Find out everything you can about this world," Aqua instructed calmly. "Report back to me in one hour."

The water spirit shimmered faintly before dispersing.

Earlier, after questioning Adrian, Aqua had learned that the city’s sewage system was interconnected.

That made things simple.

Create multiple water spirits.

Send them across different parts of the city—and beyond.

Through the countless streams, pipes, and reservoirs, information would flow back to him.

It was Efficient, invisible and effective.

He created several low-rank water spirits for the task.

Given that the inhabitants of this world weren’t supernatural, there was no need to expend unnecessary power.

The rest of the day passed uneventfully.

Aqua played his role perfectly.

A normal student, albeit one far too composed for his age.

He scored perfectly in every test, displayed flawless etiquette, and maintained a quiet, controlled demeanor throughout.

By the time school ended, nothing about him seemed out of place.

Together with Adrian, he returned home.

But Aqua didn’t linger.

Almost immediately, he left for the rendezvous point where his water spirits were to report back.

"Alright," Aqua said as he arrived, his gaze sweeping over the gathered spirits.

"Any important information I need to know?"

"It seems this universe is crumbling," one of the water spirits reported.

"The government of this world is hiding critical information from the public."

Aqua’s eyes narrowed slightly.

"What information?"

"A rift has appeared in this world," the spirit continued. "Very little is known about it.

However, some of their best teams were sent to investigate... and none of them returned."

"Hmm. Anything else?" Aqua asked, his tone thoughtful.

"One of us attempted to investigate the rift as well," another spirit added. "It did not return. The rift is... abnormal. That is our conclusion."

"I see," Aqua replied quietly. "I’ll check it out myself."

Without hesitation, he split his body into two, forming a perfect water clone.

"Maintain my place until I return," he instructed the clone.

The duplicate nodded silently.

Turning back to the spirits, Aqua asked, "Did you do what I asked?"

"Yes," one replied. "I left a drop of water at the location."

"Good."

Aqua nodded in satisfaction.

Locking onto the coordinates of that single drop of water, he activated his ability and vanished instantly.

The next moment, he appeared above the marked location.

Below him stood a large building.

At its center was a rift.

It was Unstable and Distorted.

Pulsating with an unnatural energy that warped the space around it.

Aqua descended slowly, his gaze fixed on it.

Judging by the structure surrounding it, the building had clearly been constructed after the rift’s appearance—likely to contain or monitor it.

"This is the rift," one of the accompanying spirits confirmed.

The area was heavily secured.

Armed military personnel patrolled the perimeter, their movements strict and disciplined.

But to Aqua, they were inconsequential.

Transforming his body into vapor, he drifted past them effortlessly, bypassing their patrols without triggering even the slightest suspicion.

He was Silent and ntouchable.

He moved directly toward the rift.

And without hesitation, Aqua stepped through, entering the unknown to uncover the truth behind it.
