Chapter 578 578: FULFILLING END OF BARGAIN
Chapter 578 578: FULFILLING END OF BARGAIN
Aetherion was visibly surprised by the sudden shift.
The serious, almost murderous look on Aaron's face caught him completely off guard.
He couldn't understand how the mere mention of one name could trigger such a strong reaction.
"You know him?" Aetherion asked carefully.
"Yes," Aaron replied, his voice low and filled with cold resolve.
"We have some bad blood to settle.
If I get the chance to kill both him and Chen Mo, I'll kill Chen Mo first.
That way I'll have all the time in the world to give Aegon a slow, painful death."
"Hmm," Aetherion murmured thoughtfully.
"Then it seems we both have a common enemy we need to take care of."
"How is Aegon an enemy? And what exactly do you know about him?" Aaron pressed, his eyes narrowing.
"What I need to know," Aetherion answered.
"While we were still working together, Chen Mo mentioned him from time to time.
It seems they had some business deals together.
According to Chen Mo, Aegon made a deal with the Transcendents, helping set up the Primordial realm as this glorified prison."
He paused for a moment, letting the weight of his words settle.
"And there are two ways to break this prison," Aetherion continued.
"Either get Aegon, or defeat the Transcendents outright.
Initially, we opted for the first method.
Chen Mo was supposed to transcend and act as the fore-runner while we found another way to provide assistance to him.
But now that plan has fallen through.
Chen Mo informed me for the last time that he could no longer help us.
He said he has something more important to do, so he would be going ahead and increasing his rank even further."
"Quite the traitor," Aaron muttered, a hint of dark amusement in his tone.
"Now that leaves you with the second option — find Aegon and have him help you.
But that's the hardest approach.
Aegon is not someone to take lightly.
Your plan will likely fail. So we can only make use of the first option."
"You're willing to help?" Aetherion asked, genuine surprise coloring his voice.
Just moments ago Aaron had turned them down flat.
Now he was suddenly offering assistance? The shift felt almost too sudden.
"Well, any chance I get to oppose Aegon or Chen Mo, I'll take it," Aaron replied, a dangerous glint in his eyes.
"And it seems I get to mess up both of them at the same time.
Just because I'm in a good mood.
Try not to screw it up."
"Thank you," Aetherion said quietly, relief flickering across his features.
"More than that," Aaron continued, folding his arms.
"What do you mean by a cage? The realm feels pretty fine to me."
"It's a glorified prison," Aetherion explained, his tone growing heavier.
"Aside from the fact we can't ascend, there's also the limitation on our abilities."
"Limitation? What limitation?"
"Notice how fewer Primordials can fly?" Triple A added, stepping forward.
"A basic ability everyone has had since at least the Galactic rank is all but lost after entering the Primordial realm."
"Why is that?"
"Because all abilities have been suppressed by the realm itself," Triple A answered.
"Strange," Aaron muttered, tilting his head.
"I was able to fly with gale though."
"An origin bloodline," Aetherion said, his voice carrying quiet respect.
"Above the Primordial realm, and hence above the suppression.
You're an anomaly, Aaron.
Never forget that."
"Right. My bad," Aaron replied with a small shrug.
"Well, that's for you all to worry about.
Tell me how to transcend, and I'll give those Transcendents a piece of my mind. Or…"
He paused, a crazy thought materializing in his mind.
His lips slowly curved into a wide, almost predatory smile.
"Or what?" Aetherion asked, looking at him in confusion.
But Aaron didn't reply right away.
The smile on his face only widened as he considered every angle, eyes gleaming with dark calculation.
"Say, Aetherion," Aaron finally spoke, his plan solidifying in his head.
"How many Primordials follow your lead?"
---
Chen Mo sat cross-legged on the cold stone floor, eyes closed in deep meditation after an intense training session.
Sweat still clung to his skin, and the faint scent of scorched air lingered around him.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
Slow, deliberate footsteps approached, breaking his concentration like a pebble dropped into still water.
"Chen Mo. It's time to help out and fulfill your end of the bargain," a young, cute voice called out to him.
Chen Mo opened his eyes slowly. Using a child as a pawn? The sight left a bitter taste in his mouth.
"You have no moral line," he condemned, staring at the small figure.
"I didn't want you killing all my pawns, you know," the child replied lightly.
"I don't have morals, but you do.
This should keep you from harming her. Anyways, it's time to hunt an origin being."
Taking a deep, steadying breath, Chen Mo rose to his feet.
With a casual wave of his hand, he controlled the air around him, instantly cleaning the sweat and grime from his body until he looked perfectly composed once more.
"Where's the location of the origin being?" he asked.
"You'll find out soon enough," the child answered.
"By the way, I brought help to reduce the danger of this mission. Consider it me being kind."
The child stepped aside with a small, innocent smile.
Slowly, a man walked toward Chen Mo.
He had the face of a youth that had never aged, timeless and flawless.
Golden hair framed his features, while crimson-colored eyes glowed with quiet intensity.
His pale skin blended perfectly with his elegant appearance, giving him an almost ethereal quality.
Two sharp fangs peeked from beneath his lips, revealing his vampire nature without effort.
He moved with the confident stride of a prince who knew exactly where he belonged in the world.
He wore royal attire in deep dark and crimson hues, the fabric rich and flowing around his powerful frame.
Chen Mo's eyes landed on the young man, and a strange resonance stirred deep within him, an instinctive pull he couldn't quite place.
