Chapter 1156: Maze Defense Simulation
Chapter 1156: Maze Defense Simulation
Xu Feng spent the next 2 minutes reading the detailed instructions of the utility tools left behind by Gerry. His eyes were like a barcode scanner, scanning everything in the blink of an eye.
The detailed instructions were 70% filler text, 20% useless bragging, and 10% valuable information.
What made it damnable was the fact that the valuable information was scattered across this large instructional text.
’Fucking Gerry. How much free time does he have?’ Xu Feng twitched his brows when there was a crossword puzzle near the end, telling him to try to find some words.
He wanted to omit the crossword puzzle, but it was said that for the full function to activate, it needed to be solved.
To summarize, he was left with a Maze Defense Simulation while under the pressure of completing a mini-game.
Truly one heck of a way to weaken a player’s mentality and energy!
Soon, the door opened up, and waves of corrupted sea monsters swarmed into the beacon shrine.
Their objective was to prevent the activation of the beacon, whereas Xu Feng was placed as the defense turret to stop them.
Looking at the map, Xu Feng lost count of the number of red dots fast approaching him.
’Good thing the maze has many dead ends...’ At this moment, he was slightly glad that Gerry had lots of free time to create such a big maze.
The corrupted sea monsters had no navigation or guide to lead them through the vast maze.
Without any direction, they were bound to stumble across many dead ends, unlike him, who had Burpe’s navigation skill.
With the monsters struggling to find the proper direction, Xu Feng managed to gain some more time to complete the crossword puzzle.
In the blink of an eye, many monsters began having a stampede amongst themselves. It became a crowd crush, with those who found themselves in the dead end being squashed to paste.
Subsequently, Xu Feng received the experience points from their death.
Granted that he was the temporary owner, any death occurring in the maze was accounted to his credit.
"Wow, that works too?" He scratched his head when he saw his experience bar rising.
This was something unexpected! And it was something he was willing to receive more of in the future.
Time quickly went by, and the corrupted monsters finally flooded the correct passage.
Now that the correct passage was exposed, the flow of monsters intensified, with many beginning to rush toward his direction with a crazed desire.
Simultaneously, Xu Feng also completed the crossword puzzle and received the full authority to commence the maze defense simulation.
"Let you all suffer the trap floor!" Xu Feng eyed the surveillance screen and triggered one of the traps.
At that moment, the monsters rushing ahead stumble into the open hole in the ground.
The hole was large and was doused with a type of magic oil. The magic oil was quickly lit up by a fire arrow shot from the side of the wall.
SWOOSH!
A large flame consumed the hole, burning the monsters to a crisp.
It was just a pity that the flame itself wasn’t enough to annihilate them all.
While the damage was destructive, it didn’t take long before the burned corpse piled up in the open hole and created another "superficial" ground for the remaining monsters to walk through.
Since the effectiveness of the flame was negligible, Xu Feng no longer bothered with this particular trap. Instead, he turned to poison gas.
"The poison should at least kill a large number of them, right?" He murmured.
As the poison was released into a specific area, the corrupted sea monsters became exposed to the poisoning.
They wiggled and squirmed around. The majority of them also shrieked in pain upon making contact with the poison gas.
"Success—" Xu Feng thought he succeeded this time, but was quickly disappointed.
Those who were exposed to the gas and squirming around soon got up with a refreshed look.
Rather than actually being damaged or injured by the poison gas, they appeared even more energetic than previously.
Now what the fuck was that??!
Xu Feng stomped the ground in frustration.
This cursed Tier 6 Gerry actually used poison with Abyssal Tide as an ingredient!
What kind of fucking poison would that work on any corrupted sea monsters that were filled with Abyssal Tide?
He was having a mental breakdown and nearly wanted to quit.
The arrows were weak as hell, the flames weren’t effective, and the poison was even more ridiculous!
It acted as a buffing type for the monsters.
’There’s no more useful traps!’ He exclaimed inwardly. All the other traps were either used to divert or alter the enemy’s positioning.
Maybe if the enemies were only in a few numbers, it would have been extremely effective.
Unfortunately, the enemies were countless, and they would easily swarm and fill up all the dead-end passages, albeit at the cost of a crowd crushing.
To think that his most kills came from the corrupted monster’s own doing was laughable.
’This broken simulation needs to be removed and forever banned from any gaming stores.’ Xu Feng activated all the traps without bothering to calculate anything. Since there was no point in trying to calculate the timing to activate them, he might as well use them all at once.
At the very least, the combination of all traps triggering at once could produce some result.
A few minutes later, the corrupted sea monsters finally arrived. Their eyes locked onto Xu Feng, who appeared very tiny amidst the collective large monsters.
"In the end, it still becomes a confrontation." Xu Feng shook his head and knew relying on others was always retarded. He couldn’t place his trust in the majority of them.
"I suppose this is some long-overdue exercise that I hadn’t experienced." He muttered and began to fuse with the Phantasm Spirit.
The Phantasm Spirit was none other than Burpe, except it didn’t have any sentience.
’I really didn’t want to use this skill...’ Seeing a non-sentient Burpe was like swallowing a bitter pill.
