Chapter 564: Chef
Chapter 564: Chef
Shortly after choosing the food she wanted once she confirmed that Xu Feng would foot the bill, Allison noticed quite a few players were staring at them.
"I think your actions have been too high-key." She furrowed her brows and said.
Although it was indeed nice to get a table immediately, it wasn't a good feeling when knowing there were probably players being disgruntled by this outcome.
"Those players might seek revenge on us once we leave the town."
"Then would you have preferred to waste your time waiting in line like those players?" Xu Feng responded coolly.
"And I doubt you care about it much either, considering you behave like that in the real world anyway. I'm sure whenever you enter a fancy restaurant, either the manager or owner would come out to greet you." He continued, subtly informing her that he knew her quite well.
"..."
Instantly, Allison remained silent and no longer tried to inquire or provoke Xu Feng further into spilling some information accidentally.
Time quickly passed by, and before Allison knew it, the players soon came to a realization of who Xu Feng was.
After all, they were all dissatisfied and infuriated by the situation that they went ahead to do some investigation.
And the best place to do that was naturally the Game Forum. Read latest stories on My Virtual Library Empire
Thus, it didn't take quite long for some of the more quick-witted players waiting in the line to recognize Xu Feng's appearance.
"Damn, he was the player that got Thunder Sword and his companion detained!"
"Phew, no wonder he can skip the line. Good thing I didn't try to throw a fuss and provoke him."
"Yeah, we'll just wait for another table to be done. There's a table time limit anyway."
As those players waiting in the line exclaimed loudly, the other players who had tables to begin with, started retracting their gazes from Xu Feng's table.
None of them wished to have Xu Feng mistakenly believe they were hostile and wanted to target them.
"See how fast the players stopped caring or even judging us?" Xu Feng lightly chuckled at this rapid development.
Whether it was a game or the real world, most humans still behaved the same. Having learned what he was capable of, only a foolish player would still try to mess with him.
As much as Allison wanted to deny his statement, she had no choice but to nod her head.
"It appears to be that way." She calmly said, knowing fully well that these players probably won't try to seek revenge on them whatsoever.
"And that's the first lesson: fairness." Xu Feng suddenly said and smiled slyly. "In the Divine World, if you want fairness, then you either must be overbearing, powerful, influential, or wealthy enough."
"Is there even a difference between overbearing and powerful?" Allison rolled her eyes.
"Of course there is. Overbearing is like Thunder Sword's behavior, but does that mean he's powerful? Absolutely not!" He shrugged and casually explained the difference.
"So you're saying you are not only overbearing but powerful as well?" She pressed on and inquired further.
"You could put it that way." Nodding, Xu Feng then took a sip of his beverage. "Does that answer of mine help with your investigation of me? I am an honorary elder, and could be said to be higher than Lunar Wraith and Shadow Blade in terms of authority within the guild."
Allison didn't respond and kept a stoic expression on her face, almost as if she was unaffected by his sudden remark.
However, inwardly, Allison was more or less astounded that her objective seemed to be exposed in front of Xu Feng. Not once had she slipped up, but it appeared that Xu Feng had been wary of her since the start.
'Ning Yi definitely didn't know what my plan was, so it can't be him warning Xu Feng in advance, right?' She wondered silently, finding the situation quite problematic.
For someone to be so highly guarded to suddenly reveal bits of information to her just like that made her believe there was a trap concealed.
"Alright, let's just eat. The food has arrived." Xu Feng suddenly clasped his hands and said, acting as if his previous words weren't said at all. His goal was not meant to expose her anyway.
Instead, he was just giving her subtle hints that he knew what she was up to, but he didn't care much.
Of course, this was only applicable to her considering that he interacted with her in his past timeline. Had it been any other person he was not acquainted with, then Xu Feng would gladly show them what it means to be doing a risky investigation.
And thus, Allison feigned ignorance of the earlier statement and nodded, enjoying her food.
Much to her surprise though, the food from this seemingly ordinary tavern was actually something else.
"Is this really something normal?" She widened her eyes and gasped in surprise. The first taste of the food was like a sizzling wave of umami exploding in her tongue.
"It's just average." Xu Feng calmly said, not a bit surprised by the taste of the food offered by the Divine World. The cuisine was just on another level— to the point that even famous chefs in the real world outright bought the Divine World simply to learn to cook from the NPCs.
It wasn't surprising that the chef players made their living through cooking, rather than fighting or raiding dungeons.
After all, Chef was considered another type of Profession, and they were paid quite hefty once their cuisine improved.
Back then, Xu Feng got to taste and enjoy the food from some of the famous Chef Players while working overtime in the Reaver Guild. Hence, he was spoiled rotten when it comes to great food.
'The food isn't bad, but not quite on par with what those players managed to cook.' Xu Feng thought, quietly eating the food without much complaint.
Food was food, and as long as it was edible, there was no need to make a fuss about it.
