Chapter 571: Home Defense
Chapter 571: Home Defense
As Allison exhausted all her mana after firing numerous Sacred Fire, she finally opened her eyes.
The instant she regained sight, she saw a pile of monster corpses scattered across in front of her.
She panted heavily before flashing a smile. "I did it… they all died by my hand."
Just when she was about to be on cloud nine for her achievement, a voice echoed from behind, instantly dragging her down to reality.
"No, you didn't."
"Who?" Alarmed, Allison quickly turned around, her hand clutching tightly to her staff, only to realize it was Xu Feng.
"Where did you go?" She puffed up in anger and questioned.
"I went to hide to see if a dangerous moment can help you reveal your potential, but I was wrong." Xu Feng adjusted his glasses and walked to the pile of corpses.
He then pointed at one particular corpse that seemed to be charred the most.
"This is the only monster you manage to actually hit after launching so many Sacred Fire." Xu Feng informed her and continued, "Your other Sacred Fire all went nowhere, so I ended up having to kill them for you. If you don't believe me, then check your experience point bar and see if you gain a lot or not."
Hearing that, Allison quickly opened her status screen, only to see only about 70% of the experience bar was filled up. Her level still remained as 1.
"This is… probably because the monster level is low." Allison pursed her lips and said, seemingly trying to defend herself. "The experience points of killing multiple simply added up to 70%. There's no way the Divine World would let you level up that quick."
She had heard rumors that the leveling speed was extremely tedious and difficult to gain. Therefore, she refused to believe any of Xu Feng's claims.
If only she hadn't closed her eyes from fear, then she could have easily debunked him on the spot.
However, she could no longer deceive herself when Xu Feng seemed ready for her defenses.
"I've recorded the whole battle scene so do you want to see your spectacular fight?" Xu Feng smiled cheekily and asked. "Oh, and these monsters are way above your level. They are level 15-20s so just killing two of them is enough to level up." Experience more content on My Virtual Library Empire
"..."
Allison was rendered speechless, clearly unable to believe he would record her secretly.
"Don't you know recording people is against the law? I can sue you for that." She crossed her arms and declared.
"Yes, but that only applies to the real world. The law doesn't work here in the Divine World." He shrugged in response.
"E-Even so… you are still unethical and immoral to record a person without permission."
"Did you not browse the Game Forum? So many people recorded me without permission, but does it look like they care about being ethical and moral?"
Frustrated, Allison stomped the ground.
A second later though, she flashed a sweet and gentle look. She brushed a few of her hair aside and said, "Dear Feng, can you kindly delete the video for me? I don't want others to see me in the video but in their memory instead."
Unfazed by her appearance, Xu Feng held a deadpan expression.
"Nope, as your tutor, it is my duty to teach you how to fight. By recording your first fight, you can then look at it once you have improved tremendously."
"Delete it!" Realizing the soft approach failed, Allison's expression turned fierce and demanded.
"Wow, you change faces faster than those two-faced villains." Xu Feng exclaimed and hurriedly jumped upward. As he got on top of a nearby tree branch, Allison bit her lips softly, knowing fully well that she couldn't reach him from there.
And with her attributes being pathetically low as a level 1, she can't even jump that high to begin with.
"Oi, you get down here right now," Allison exclaimed, visibly annoyed with his teasing.
"What are you going to do if I don't get down?" Xu Feng mused. He thoroughly enjoyed this moment to the maximum.
Such a scenario would have never occurred in his past timeline.
Right as Allison was about to make her threat, the two of them suddenly received a severe system warning.
System: Warning! Warning! Warning!
System: Home Defense Has Been Triggered!
Almost immediately, Xu Feng leaped down from the tree branch and told Allison to log out.
Nodding, Allison quickly logged out of the Divine World.
Soon, the gaming capsules opened and by the time Allison got up, she noticed Xu Feng had already begun checking on the security and surroundings.
"Turret 3, 4, and 5 have been activated. That should be the backyard of your mansion." Xu Feng informed her the moment he saw her coming out of the gaming capsule.
"The backyard?" Still in a state of shock, Allison was just following Xu Fneg, who seemed more than ready and prepared for such scenarios.
"What should I do here?" She then asked, unsure of what to do. Normally, she would have a lot of guards stationed, but because she had just arrived at Avalon City in secret, she didn't anticipate there to be intruders knowing her location.
Of course, the turrets she had placed in were supposed to be enough to defend against any intruders. However, after witnessing what Xu Feng had done, she no longer trusted the turrets completely.
"Keep watch of the surveillance and do not leave the place. I've checked your security before and everything is bulletproof."
"Then what about you?"
"I'm going to check the backyard personally. The surveillance camera isn't good enough for a full 360 view so I need to verify the situation myself."
After saying that, Xu Feng was about to head toward the backyard through a shortcut path, only to be grasped by Allison.
"No, don't go. The police should have been alerted so we can wait here for them to arrive." Allison's hands were trembling somewhat. "You said this place is safe, so there's no need to risk anything."
