Chapter 986: Resonance Arena

"Advanced training fee?" Carmen’s brows raised up. She thought she heard him wrong, so she asked again.

"Do you mean that we both will begin the advanced training fee?"

"No, just you." Xu Feng shook his head and clarified. "The time spent in the trial is quite long, and I still have to attend a specific competition."

"You’re joining some competition?"

"Ah, no, I meant I’m going to be spectating someone." He then went on to explain Zhao Kai’s circumstances.

Sometime later, Carmen finally realized why her other Guild Commander had been absent lately.

"Ah, so he’s been preparing for the City Competition. Rumors said that it’s going to be more fierce than the previous because of the Divine World." She commented.

Although the benefit of the Divine World hadn’t been exaggerated, some people had experienced an increased health and other things after playing it.

Knowing that he was concentrating, Carmen decided to leave him alone and explore the city by herself. There was no point in staying around or being worried about him being harmed.

They were inside the Missionary Hall where violence was absolutely forbidden. She highly doubted Xu Feng had such a trouble halo that would cause anyone to find trouble against him.

Just like that, Carmen left Xu Feng alone and began walking around the city.

As she continued to walk, she overheard NPCs chatting about many different types of topics.

"Seems like there’s a new batch of people arriving in the cities."

"It’s usually around this time that the Resonance City opens up to qualified people. Even we needed to pass the trials to come here."

"I’ll say... shouldn’t we start encouraging the newcomers to enter the arena for some points betting. They’re definitely arrogant at the moment."

’Let’s see where this arena is.’ She opened her map and specified her searches. Soon, she located it and realized she wasn’t that far from it.

Time quickly went by, and Carmen arrived at the Resonance Arena.

"A newcomer?" Upon seeing Carmen entering, an employee approached her and said.

"Yes, I’d like to register." Carmen nodded. She was very familiar with the arena’s procedure. In the blink of an eye, she was registered with the Resonance Arena. The registration fee was 100 points, which she paid without hesitation.

The points she paid would soon be returned in full after she played the pig to eat the tiger.

To avoid being recognized as an expert or familiar with the arena, she purposely acted timidly and glanced around. Her appearance and behavior quickly attracted a few NPCs who stared at her like some easy prey.

"Are you a newcomer to the Resonance City?" One male NPC suddenly approached her and asked calmly.

Seeing him, Carmen nodded somewhat awkwardly. "Ah, yes, I was told that I need to come here to become recognized fully as a citizen of the city."

Sure enough, the male NPC’s smile widened upon hearing her words.

This was his thinking, and the other people’s mindset as well. They weren’t interested in Carmen’s appearance whatsoever. She was beautiful, but they had seen all kinds of beauty already. They weren’t going to lose their mind and go horny mode.

"I see..." the male NPC nodded and introduced himself. "I’m called Derek, and a veteran in the arena. I’ll be generous and explain the situation to you."

Having said that, Derek didn’t even bother to wait for a response and began explaining the rules of the arena for newcomers.

Essentially, Carmen needed to bet a minimum of 100 points to participate and make a name for herself.

To make a name for themselves was relatively easy. One simply needed to win at least 3 matches. Additionally, the more points one bet, the greater the respect one would gain.

"If you bet big and won big, then not only will you gain points. But you will also gain a lot of connections. Many people here would be more than happy to assist you to navigate and help you get a lot of discounts in many stores." Derek explained.

"Connection and discounts?" Dumbfounded, Carmen was taken aback by this information.

"Mhmm, many newcomers arrive with zero connections. They probably will spend all their points at exorbitant prices. But if you gain a high reputation in the arena, those exorbitant prices would be eliminated."
