Reversed Fate in the 70s: Marrying the Factory Director rather than Rough Man

Chapter 127

Chapter 127 : I’m Looking for Sun Yulian

Sister Hong generously gave away a hundred pairs of stockings, divided into thick and thin ones.

Jiang Li breathed a sigh of relief when she got the items. These coveted stockings had really piqued people’s interest. Several customers in her store brought their families to buy them.

But now Jiang Li had run out of stockings to give away. No matter how hard she tried, she had promised to send them over in two days, and she couldn’t afford to ruin her reputation.

The current batch of goods was so large that transporting them by hand was impossible.

Thanks to Sister Hong’s introduction, Jiang Li arranged for a train to transport her luggage and boarded.

She ate whatever she could find, staying close to her belongings and not daring to leave them. A passing conductor laughed and reassured her, “It’s okay. Our luggage is under surveillance. It’s safe. Don’t worry.”

Jiang Li was still worried. Nowadays, thieves and human traffickers were rampant. There were people who cut clothes with knives, jumped into windows to steal bags when the train stopped, and even robbed people on the train.

When she arrived at the station with her belongings, Qi Shaoqiang was already waiting with a tricycle.

Jiang Li wanted to buy the tricycle, as it would be useful for moving things.

The goods were delivered directly to the store instead of going to her home. Wang Juan, who had been waiting in the store, breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Jiang Li return.

The boss had been away for the past two days, and Wang Juan had been like a headless fly. Fortunately, Aunt Yun had been there to help, and the two of them managed to keep the store running.

“Boss, I’m so glad you’re back. The store’s almost sold out.”

Jiang Li saw that the clothes racks, which had been full before she left, were now nearly empty. She quickly asked Wang Juan to iron the new clothes, cut the threads, and put up advertisements about the arrival of new autumn clothes, hanging them outside the store.

Qi Shaoqiang helped with the work. After finishing his work, he came to the store and even knew how to iron clothes.

Once the shelves were set up and the goods arranged, Jiang Li finally breathed a sigh of relief. But as soon as she relaxed, she felt exhausted.

After returning home and finishing their meal, Qi Shaoqiang gave her some hot water to soak her feet and then carefully massaged her shoulders and lower back. When she fell asleep, he dried her feet and carried her to bed.

The days passed with Jiang Li balancing school, running the store, and occasionally taking on painting jobs.

The Mid-Autumn Festival was approaching. The day before the holiday, students who lived nearby were preparing to go home. Only a few, who lived far away, hadn’t bought train tickets. Since it wasn’t worth going home during the short holiday, they celebrated the festival at school.

Wang Hong, from Northeast China, couldn’t go home. She was invited by Zhu Zhu, a local, to celebrate the festival with her. “My mom’s cooking is delicious. We bought hairy crabs and will steam them for the holiday.”

Sun Yulian looked at Zhu Zhu with some jealousy. Wasn’t it just relying on her parents? What was there to show off?

Someone in the dormitory asked Sun Yulian, “Yulian, are you going home for the Mid-Autumn Festival? If you’re staying at school, let’s go out to a restaurant together. There’s a Limin Restaurant outside the school. The food there is better than the state-owned ones and is cheaper.”

Sun Yulian raised her chin proudly and said, “No, what good food can a private restaurant offer? It’s not the same as a state-owned restaurant.”

“My boyfriend’s family invited me to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with them. They booked a private room in a state-owned hotel.”

The girl who had invited her was pulled aside by someone, “I told you not to be too nice. Look, now she’s pushing us aside.”

“I saw she wasn’t planning to go home, so I thought of asking her, to prevent her from feeling isolated,” the girl who invited Sun Yulian said, biting her lip, tears welling in her eyes.

Zhu Zhu couldn’t take it anymore. “What’s wrong with the state-owned restaurant? I’m tired of them. I think the food at Limin Restaurant is fresher!”

She said this because she couldn’t stand Sun Yulian, who was clearly independent, but after falling in love, kept showing off her partner, constantly mentioning Yu Qianjin’s name.

Secondly, she knew that Limin Restaurant was owned by Jiang Li’s good friend. When it first opened, Lizi had even invited everyone in their dormitory to dine there!

The chef of that restaurant was actually a girl. She cooked stir-fried pork intestines with white pepper, stir-fried beef tripe with pickled radish, and her braised dishes were so delicious that they lingered in one’s dreams.

The restaurant had only been open for a few days, but there were already long queues outside, with people coming just for the braised dishes. If they hadn’t entered through the back door, they wouldn’t have been able to eat that day!

Seeing that the people in the dormitory didn’t like her, Sun Yulian snorted, checked her appearance in the mirror, and went out. She had an appointment with Qianjin to watch a movie.

When she got downstairs, she saw Yu Qianjin constantly checking his watch. He seemed very impatient when he saw Sun Yulian, “Why are you so late? The mosquitoes are biting me to death.”

Sun Yulian felt displeased. It had only been five minutes, hadn’t it? But she still spoke soothingly, “I’m sorry, the people in my dormitory wanted to have dinner with me, and I said a few words to them, so I was delayed. It won’t happen again next time.”

Hearing about the dormitory, Yu Qianjin perked up, “Your dormitory? Did that Jiang Li ask you to have dinner with them too?”

“Since she’s your roommate, why don’t you invite her over for dinner tomorrow? You should get to know her and make her your friend.”

Sun Yulian saw through Yu Qianjin’s intentions and said, “I’m meeting your parents tomorrow. It wouldn’t be appropriate to invite your roommate to such a formal occasion. I’ll invite them next time.”

“Then you must remember next time!” Yu Qianjin said, a bit unwilling.

“Let’s go watch the movie. It’s about to start.”

Sun Yulian took the initiative to hold Yu Qianjin’s arm, and the two walked towards the school gate. When they arrived, a tall, dark man with a woven bag on his back was looking around. He was dressed in rags and was being driven away by the security guards.

“Go on, go on, these are all students, people from society can’t stay here.”

“I’m really here to look for someone. I’m looking for my wife. She’s attending college here.”

“You said your wife is studying here, so didn’t you make an appointment with her where to meet before you came?”

“I… I was in a hurry and forgot. I just came to see her, not to stay here long.”

“Even if you forgot, what’s your wife’s name and her major? I’ll call the dormitory for you.”

“My wife’s name is Sun Yulian, she’s a freshman, what’s her major?”

“She’s studying something…”

The man, suddenly reminded, realized, “She studies chemistry.”

Sun Yulian felt like she had been hit on the back of the head. Li Tiejun, her countryman, why was he here?

“Yulian, what did he just say? Who’s his wife?” Yu Qianjin didn’t hear clearly and covered his nose in disgust.

“Who would marry someone like that from our school?”

The color drained from Sun Yulian’s face, and her palms went cold. No, Qianjin could never find out about her marriage, especially since she was meeting his family tomorrow.

She lowered her head, trying to avoid Li Tiejun’s gaze, but it was too late. Li Tiejun had already noticed her.

Two chicken heads popped out of the woven bag in his hand and fell to the ground, looking a bit funny.
