Chapter 741: True Sleep
Chapter 741: True Sleep
The question now was quite obvious. What would they do about this? What good was all of this information?
There were only two of them, and they certainly weren’t strong enough to fight them all. Their only advantage right now was that no one knew.
However, Theron saw things differently. He had just gained very valuable information. For one, he finally knew how he would deal with the female assassin.
He had been facing a dilemma. On the one hand, he wanted an inside track to the Demon Corps. But on the other hand, he didn’t want to hand over what he had.
The issue with that was obvious. If he didn’t give the female assassin what she needed to complete her mission, then their deal wouldn’t be completed, and thus he wouldn’t get what he wanted out of the interaction.
But now that it was confirmed that all of these things were linked, and knowing the information the Demon Corps had was vague and incomplete, Theron had far more options.
For example... he didn’t need to give up the piece of Primordial Earth that had fused with his soul. Instead, he could just give her the pill formula.
The formula was useful, sure. But there was no reason for him to need the original with him when he could just memorize it. As for what the female assassin did with the rest, that had nothing to do with him. He would have what he needed out of the interaction.
But there was another path as well.
Just giving over the pill formula was a solution, sure. But it wasn’t the most perfect solution.
The problem with that path was how he would plant it. The female assassin wasn’t a fool, and he also didn’t trust her completely. If she knew that he had so much of the inheritance even the Demon Corps was interested in, they could very well fall out.
Though Theron no longer feared the female assassin nearly as much with his increase in strength, he wouldn’t underestimate her either.
While it was true that she was "only" a Sixth Resonance Dome of Heaven expert, if Theron treated her like all the other Dome of Heaven experts he had come across already, he would basically be presenting his head on a chopping block.
This woman’s aura was very odd, and she was a great danger. In fact, if Theron had to guess, she was probably hiding a Resonance that was beyond Primal... she might very well be the first Titan Resonance Talent he had ever come across.
So, what Theron needed more than anything was a foolproof way to get what he wanted out of the woman while also giving her what she wanted.
And what better way to do that than with information she had come to him with personally?
The Nightingale Clan.
In all of this, the one power that seemed to have gotten lost in the shuffle was the Nightingale Clan, and they happened to be quite connected to the Umbra Clan.
Didn’t Theron have a very convenient arrangement to crash in a few days’ time? If he had the help of the female assassin, this task would be even easier.
He would be able to kill three birds with a single stone.
He would get what he wanted, get the female assassin what she wanted, and in the end he would also be able to finally complete the mission that Goddess Sacharro had given him.
As for the last of the three birds, he was fairly certain this was the last piece he was missing. The Hall of Ice and Spirit was little more than an organization in name now, but Theron could still feel that the looming threat of the Goddess was very much still there.
Clearly, when she spoke of what he had to do in three years, just killing what was on the surface wasn’t enough. He needed to make it deep into the roots.
"Alright, this is what we will do..." Theron began to speak.
...
Not long later, Theron was alone in his room with Alpha once again. He sat there in silence, his breathing even, and he seemed to have completely fallen asleep in meditation.
His mind reached a state of tranquility and calm, and soon, he really had fallen asleep.
How long had it been since he had a true night’s rest? Sure, he had closed his eyes in sleep many times, but in the last over-year, how many real sleeps had he had?
None.
He was always on alert, always sharp and focused at least in part, but tonight... he truly allowed himself to sleep for no other reason than he knew that Alpha would be paying attention for him.
In doing so, his body seemed to begin to catch up on rest it hadn’t experienced in too long.
It wasn’t his body that benefited the most, though... it was his soul.
While it didn’t grow stronger in the normal sense, it grew larger, more expansive. It had experienced a great amount of growth in recent times. Theron had gone from a Silver Soul, to a Gold Soul, and then up to a Perfect Cloud Soul in a matter of days. Then, before that even fully settled down, he gained the Primordial Earth.
For Theron to stay on high alert all the time on top of that, it was impossible for his soul to truly adapt to its new strength...
Until now.
That night, Theron slept for a full twelve hours, an amount of time that might as well have been months to a mortal.
The changes to his soul in those twelve hours were so profound that a gold soul energy erupted from his eyes the moment he opened them in the morning.
It felt like the world was in the palm of his hands, clarity and sharpness becoming little more than tools in his back pocket he could pull out on a whim.
His soul might have still been at the Perfect Cloud Realm level, but in practice, it seemed already a rival for true Kings.
