Chapter 800: Legacy

Chapter 800: Legacy

BOOM.

Alpha slammed into the ground once again. Theron and Ayame both looked back toward him at the same time, but eventually chose to look away as he stood up one more time.

Ayame took a breath and then let go of Yonwei’s throat.

"Oh! Thank you." Theron smiled brightly.

Ayame looked away toward the clouds above. She seemed to want to look anywhere but toward Theron. However, Theron didn’t seem to have noticed as he waved a hand.

Yonwei fell into a flat portal of darkness and then appeared right in front of him.

Her expression couldn’t help but be baffled. Dark Mana wasn’t Space Mana. You didn’t just teleport people—you had to deconstruct and then reconstruct their body. It was common knowledge that that was practically impossible to force on another person.

Anyone weak enough to fall into such a trap would likely die because the reconstruction almost always failed. The universe would register it as death.

A Dark Mancer could construct and reconstruct their own body because it was a spell tethered to their body. But a spell like this used against someone else would be against their will, so their Life Mana wouldn’t begin an immediate reconstruction process like it would for the caster.

The only way that would be possible was if...

’Death.’ Yonwei’s pupils constricted into pinholes.

The only way Theron’s Dark Mana could do this was if his Dark Mana had Death Mana aspects. By controlling Death Mana, Theron could restrain and control Life Mana to act like he wanted.

One might wonder, then, why Theron hadn’t just killed Urong with this method. He had forcefully teleported the Demon Duke once during the battle. So why had he lived?

That was because the example described here was of someone much weaker. They wouldn’t be able to resist the forceful teleportation no matter what, so Theron had to protect them from dying.

But against a much stronger enemy, their own personal Life Mana would be highly resistant against such a thing. As such, when using it against an opponent like Urong, Theron didn’t need to save his life—instead, he was using his Death Mana to restrain Urong’s Life Mana from reacting and instinctively resisting.

"You..."

Yonwei’s reaction to this seemed even fiercer than the death of her master. That was because while she couldn’t sense the abilities of the Dagger Call Platform, she was sure it had played a large role.

But this... this was all Theron.

It was more shocking than Dual Resonance Cores. It was more shocking than Void Cores. It was more shocking than an Arcane Beast that somehow had the aura and momentum of a Titan Beast.

Even when her master died, Yonwei hadn’t reacted like this. But right now, she couldn’t seem to control her emotions at all.

Theron was only smiling gently, his expression impossible to read beyond the soft curve of his lips. But when he raised his finger, there was just the slightest flicker of cold in them.

Yonwei knew better than to move as a complex formation appeared before her. But in reality, there was a string of the Karmic String and Needle hidden in his sleeve.

Soon, a tether was formed between Theron and Yonwei. Now, he could feel her thoughts and intentions. While this wasn’t the same as reading thoughts, in a lot of ways it was far more effective. He didn’t need to put any effort into constantly keeping up with what she was thinking.

If she wanted to do something bad... he would feel it.

Yonwei felt a strong connection form with Theron, but the control over it was completely one-sided. She thought it was because of the formation, though, and her opinion of Theron became even more solidified.

"Well, you should know what to do now. I don’t really care about what happens in this place, I just don’t want people using any obvious rules to target me. You understand, right?"

Demon Dukes certainly had a certain level of responsibility for maintaining these cities. After all, they were all part of a huge organization seemingly fighting a war against the Resistance Army. They wouldn’t allow their highest generals to have no responsibilities.

Yonwei knew this, and she had been hoping that Theron would be smart enough to see it as well. Luckily, he was.

"Yes. Of course," Yonwei said, suddenly far less flirtatious and far more serious.

"Alright. I have a Tribulation to complete."

BOOM.

As though on cue, Alpha crashed to the ground below.

"You’ve done well, partner. I’ll handle the rest."

Alpha let out a weak howl, but Theron was already halfway into the skies, unsheathing his short sword and dagger in a single movement.

WHOOSH.

He burst through the curtain of thick clouds, and surging, pulsing waves of lightning crashed against him.

He brought out the Bloodline Marble in one fluid motion with little more than his thoughts. All this time, it had been rampaging within his father’s necklace, seemingly wanting to be released. It was like it had sensed the challenge of the Heavens and was furious with Theron for holding it back for so long.

Theron laughed. "Let’s dance, then."

ROAR.

Flashing lines of lightning charged into one another, forming the maw of a dragon that blasted a violent echo of sound toward Theron’s face.

Theron grinned. He felt like he was being provoked.

He never understood the fascination with Dragons. Overgrown lizards when they had four limbs, and snakes crawling across the skies when they slithered through the air.

In his opinion... lions were much cooler.

His hair danced like a mane and he roared back.

ROAR.

The Bloodline Marble shook, but Theron’s body had already been scorched black, every inch of him suffering a severe injury in kind.

But his laughter echoed much the same—a madness that came from the depths of his bloodline, resonating with his very heart itself.

He hadn’t felt this good in a very long time.

The Galethunders didn’t have a legacy. Everyone he came across seemed baffled by his last name.

Soon, they would be baffled for another reason.

Since his Galethunders had no legacy, he would make one himself in memory of his parents and little sister.

"Come."
