Chapter 837 837: Get Up

Theron tuned out the rest of the world, stroking Alpha's fur slowly. He could feel that Alpha could already heal himself, but he wasn't because of how close a pair of powerful Transcendents were. He didn't want to cause any extra trouble to Theron.

How many days had it been since his return? A few days?

Theron shook his head. Not even all that long and he already felt the call stronger than ever.

He wanted more power.

Wasn't that how it worked?

A shadow flashed and stood over Theron, the furious visage of a middle-aged woman looming.

"It's okay," Theron said softly. "Whatever comes is fine."

Alpha weakly moved, trying to look at Theron. But Theron only firmly patted his head in response.

He was sure.

A low growl came from Alpha and then there was a flash of red. In an instant, Alpha's wounds had healed and Theron stood to his full height.

"Did you not hear me speak, child?" Chezx said coldly.

Theron met her gaze. The two of them stood at the very same height, though it did seem that Chezx's heels were elevated just the slightest bit by the shoes she wore.

But to Theron, it wouldn't have mattered even if she was a full head taller than him.

"You have one week to live," Theron said calmly, looking past Chezx and toward Kenton. "Do whatever you'd like in that week. I would personally advise running, not that it will make a difference."

With a step, Theron appeared on Alpha's back.

"Halt!" Chezx felt like she had been extremely patient already. But now Theron was crossing her bottom line.

Alpha's paw pressed down on the ground and in a flash, they had vanished in a streak of crimson. When they appeared again, a dazed and confused Lyra locked eyes with Theron.

"Theron! Where did you go?"

Theron smiled. "It was just a small matter."

On the ground, Chezx was absolutely fuming. However, as she was about to do something, the last of the Timeless Fairies reached forward and stopped her.

There was a flicker in Kenton's eyes when he noticed this. Despite his pain, he was still highly alert, especially after Theron's death threat.

Part of Kenton didn't believe in the threat at all. He knew Theron's secrets now. The idea that the latter could catch him off guard again was impossible.

The only reason Kenton wasn't making a big deal of the fact Theron had controlled his own blood was because that would lose him the right to deal with Theron personally.

In fact, right now, he was cursing on the inside, because the more Theron acted like a spoiled brat, the more of a chance there was that he would be dungeoned or something of the sort, and that would make the odds that he could deal with him even less.

However, looking at the interaction between Chezx and Messo, a wariness bloomed in his heart.

If he could figure out that Theron had an Undefeatable Spirit, others might be able to as well.

He had assumed that he was the only one because it hadn't been Ameridia who had personally overseen the Soul Mirror, but Daisy. Daisy didn't have an Undefeatable Spirit, so she was unlikely to know.

The only reason Kenton knew was because of an obscure opportunity he had had. However, given the way Messo was suddenly choosing to calm Chezx instead of act to deal with Theron…

'I have to act fast.'

It was the only thought Kenton could land on. He was too injured right now, but he would have to make some sacrifices to make the gains he wanted to.

Everything about the situation right now optically was in his favor. Theron was fully healed while he was half dead. And yet they seemed to be siding with Theron. Or at the very least, Messo was.

From Kenton's intel, he knew that of the Timeless Fairies, the highest ranked was Messo. She was the most softly spoken and low-key, but she was the closest thing Ameridia had to a right hand in the entire world.

There were things she would know that Chezx might not. And the fact she was stopping the latter told Kenton everything he needed to know.

Chezx could only frown, but then she looked toward the blood soaking the grass and soil through in the very same area Alpha had just been collapsed in. Then she looked toward Theron who, while completely uninjured, had his clothes riddled with injuries and odd markings that came from battle.

Then she finally looked at Kenton who, while heavily injured, seemed to have suffered the same exact wound in several places. Almost like…

'A sudden surprise attack to reverse the tides of battle.'

"I see." Chezx nodded. "You've always been sharper than I am, Messo."

She waved a hand and a chain appeared out of nowhere.

Kenton's eyes widened. "What is the meaning of this?!"

He was shocked. He had watched Chezx's eyes earlier, so he could guess her conclusions, but just because he had been winning a battle before he suddenly and abruptly lost it didn't mean he had started it.

Why was he more at fault than Theron?

The answer was that he wasn't. The problem was that Chezx wasn't the smartest tool in the shed, so Messo gave her a perfunctory explanation that she gladly accepted.

Kenton's original conclusion was correct.

Messo knew the importance of Theron.

Chained and bound, Kenton fell to his knees, his eyes bulging with fury.

His snow fox growled, flashing to stand between Chezx and Kenton. However, through gritted teeth, Kenton commanded it to stand down.

Kenton took deep breaths. He had to control his emotions.

He found it especially difficult when he saw the chains bind his companion as well, but he forcefully shut his eyes, rage brewing in his heart.

"Get up," Chezx said coldly before she started to drag them away.

Messo watched this scene without saying another word. Slowly, her head turned toward where Theron had disappeared.
