Running Over The Head Of My Ex [Rebirth]

Chapter 93

Chapter 93

“Weiwei.”

“Weiwei?”

All day long, Tao Jinghan watched He Qingqi hover around Zhuo Zhiwei like a buzzing fly. Her every move revolved around Zhuo Zhiwei, pouring tea, fetching water, attending to her every need with a dogged persistence.

Zhuo Zhiwei, her chin slightly lifted, sat with a natural and graceful posture, her back straight, exuding an air of reserved elegance. She held a water cup in her hand, her expression indifferent, and paid no attention to He Qingqi. Yet He Qingqi wasn’t upset. She continued smiling brightly, undeterred.

Watching this, Tao Jinghan felt her cheeks grow sore just from observing. There was something irresistibly adorable about Zhuo Zhiwei in He Qingqi’s presence, as if being around her triggered a hidden tsundere quality, like a proud cat. It was enviable.

As her mind wandered back to the events of the previous night, Tao Jinghan sighed in relief and smiled with newfound clarity. She wasn’t sure if things between her and Bian Sui-tong would work out, but at least they had cleared the air. Even if fate didn’t align and they couldn’t be together, they had both tried, leaving no room for regrets.

She couldn’t help but think how heartless she had been. They always say the person who falls in love first is the most humble, but she had reversed their roles after nearly a year of emotional buffering, her decisive actions shifting the dynamic. She wondered how Bian Sui-tong would ultimately choose.

But so be it. She no longer wanted to force anything.

Tao Jinghan took a deep breath, blinking as her thoughts drifted.

Beside her, Lin Xi looked on with a complicated expression as He Qingqi and Zhuo Zhiwei openly displayed their affection, their relationship now fully out in the open. Lin Xi had been quick to report it when she first sensed something, but Chairman Zhao had shockingly told her to let it be and even asked her to help keep it under wraps.

Now that their relationship had been acknowledged, she had no interest in playing the villain.

But still…

Lin Xi gripped her phone tightly, her eyes clouded with uncertainty. Wasn’t it all happening a bit too fast?

They hadn’t been together for that long, yet… Lin Xi was filled with disbelief. This was all too reckless!

She had thought He Qingqi was someone dependable, but in just a few days, that impression had shattered. It turned out that He Qingqi had indeed gotten involved in a faux relationship-turned-real and even registered for marriage within the team!

Lin Xi’s throat bobbed as she swallowed hard, striding over to He Qingqi. She gave Zhuo Zhiwei a brief glance before tapping He Qingqi on the shoulder. In a low voice, filled with mixed emotions, she said, “Come outside with me for a moment.”

Zhuo Zhiwei froze, instantly realizing it might have something to do with her. She gazed at He Qingqi with slight worry, nervously clenching her fingers as a strange sense of unease settled in.

He Qingqi, on the other hand, felt a burst of fireworks go off in her heart. Her wife was finally acknowledging her!

Silently giving Lin Xi a thumbs-up in her mind, He Qingqi sent a reassuring look to Zhuo Zhiwei before nonchalantly following Lin Xi outside.

They walked to a secluded area and stood in silence for a while before Lin Xi, frowning deeply, asked, “Did you two register for marriage?”

He Qingqi glanced at her in surprise but saw no reason to hide it. Casually, she nodded. “Yep.”

“Yep?” Lin Xi clenched her teeth in frustration, resisting the urge to throw her phone at He Qingqi’s face to snap her out of it.

She was completely reckless!

“How did you find out?” He Qingqi asked curiously.

Lin Xi half-closed her eyes, taking a deep breath to suppress her anger. She unlocked her phone and pulled up a post on Douban, tossing it to He Qingqi. “See for yourself.”

He Qingqi furrowed her brows, reading the words carefully.

“I work at the Civil Affairs Bureau and I’m a CP fan of Ou’er Ou’san. You wouldn’t believe what I saw today—it was like a dream, I almost fainted!”

There were no photos to back it up, and there were only a handful of comments, likely skimmed over by most people who treated it as a passing joke. Few would believe it.

“Still emotional after all this time?”

“Ahhh! Could it be what I’m thinking? Qingwei shipper here, declaring my love from the cemetery (I know it’s probably just a dream, but I believe it! Ahhh!)”

He Qingqi blinked, suppressing the urge to “like” the post and comment. Instead, she cheerfully handed the phone back to Lin Xi.

She spread her hands, grinning. “No big deal, see? Everything’s fine.”

He Qingqi chuckled lightly. “Don’t worry, Sis Lin. I know the rules, I won’t cause any trouble for you. My brother already took care of everything.”

Seeing He Qingqi’s carefree attitude only fueled Lin Xi’s anger, her fury rising to her head. With a barely restrained voice, she seethed, “You know the rules?”

Realizing she was getting too worked up, Lin Xi cleared her throat and lowered her voice. “If you knew the rules, you wouldn’t be in a relationship! For an idol, dating is a huge taboo!”

Her eyes widened in warning. “Do you want to lose your job?”

He Qingqi shrugged, unbothered, as if the scolding meant nothing. “If I don’t know the rules, there are others who do. What should be said and what shouldn’t, we’re all smart enough to handle it.”

She paused, recalling an example from the depths of her memory. “Look at So-and-So in the industry. Everyone knows about her shady relationships, but she still maintains a pure and innocent image.”

Lin Xi rolled her eyes. She wasn’t here to break them up—she just wanted to know their marital status to stay prepared for any potential fallout.

Pointing a finger at He Qingqi, Lin Xi said sharply, “I don’t care if you’re married or divorced. Just be careful. At least don’t flaunt it in front of the camera, especially during live streams!”

She sighed, rubbing her forehead in exasperation. “Alright, go back. It’s nothing major. I just wanted to ask.”

He Qingqi nodded obediently, then after walking a few steps, turned back. “Aren’t you coming back, Sis Lin?”

Lin Xi waved her off irritably. “I need a moment to calm down. You’ve nearly made me explode with rage.”

“Oh.”

“Wait!” Lin Xi called after her. After a few seconds of hesitation, her expression grew serious, and she pursed her lips. “Zhuo Zhiwei is a good girl. Don’t…”

Before Lin Xi could finish, He Qingqi cut in with a smile. “Don’t worry, Sis Lin. I plan on being with her for the rest of my life.”

Lin Xi didn’t take her words to heart. They were still so young—He Qingqi was barely twenty, not even a third of the way through her life. Who was she to talk about “forever”?

But at least He Qingqi seemed sincere, so Lin Xi could relax a little.

Rubbing her temples in exhaustion, Lin Xi waved her off.

He Qingqi, in high spirits, skipped back to the dressing room.

At that moment, Zhuo Zhiwei was anxiously fiddling with her fingers, occasionally glancing at the door. The sunlight streaming through the window cast a soft glow, turning her long, jet-black hair into a golden halo, making her beauty almost surreal.

When their eyes met, He Qingqi’s face immediately lit up with a smile, and her heart skipped a beat.

Weiwei had been worrying about her!

Seeing that everything seemed fine, Zhuo Zhiwei felt relieved. Just as she was about to smile, the memory of that message she had seen earlier flashed in her mind. Pouting, she stubbornly looked away.

He Qingqi chuckled, glancing at her indulgently. She adored Zhuo Zhiwei’s stubbornness. She wanted Zhuo Zhiwei to always be this way—playfully petulant, without a trace of the heartbreaking restraint from before. Zhuo Zhiwei was her sweet little kitten, and she never wanted to see her suffer again.

He Qingqi crouched beside her, resting her chin on her hands, batting her eyes playfully. “Weiwei, look at me. Am I not adorable?”

Zhuo Zhiwei huffed and turned her head to the other side, crossing her arms in defiance.

He Qingqi scooted closer, resting her head on Zhuo Zhiwei’s knees, a playful glint in her eyes as she feigned a pitiful tone. “But last night…”

“You said I was cute.” She leaned in, rubbing her cheek against Zhuo Zhiwei’s exposed knee, blinking up at her flirtatiously.

Zhuo Zhiwei’s heart skipped a beat, her cheeks flushing as she glared at He Qingqi, unable to say a word. Last night, she had indeed been coaxed into saying some rather shameless things… Her gaze fell on He Qingqi’s small chest pressing against her leg, and she held her breath.

She had called that cute…

“Why aren’t you saying anything?” He Qingqi teased softly, her voice like a feather brushing against Zhuo Zhiwei’s heart.

A faint smile played on He Qingqi’s lips as she leaned in, her breath warm against Zhuo Zhiwei’s skin. She gazed down, letting Zhuo Zhiwei catch a glimpse of her soft pink tongue peeking out between her lips.

Zhuo Zhiwei’s heart raced, her body weak with desire.

The soft sensation of He Qingqi’s cheek continued rubbing against her knee, the memory of He Qingqi’s movements from the previous night flashing in her mind.

She bit her lip, her hands, once tense, now limp by her sides. In a soft, pleading voice, she whispered like sweet rice cakes, “I don’t want to talk to you.”

He Qingqi blinked pitifully and, with no one paying attention, leaned in to press a gentle kiss on Zhuo Zhiwei’s knee. “Why not?”

Zhuo Zhiwei nearly jumped in surprise, instinctively kicking He Qingqi in the chin.

Blushing furiously, Zhuo Zhiwei scolded her like a shy kitten, “I’m mad at you!”

He Qingqi’s heart melted at the sight, her eyes soft like a flowing stream. “Then let me make it up to you.”

Zhuo Zhiwei froze, her eyes clouded with emotions He Qingqi couldn’t quite understand.

This wasn’t the first time she had been so willful with He Qingqi. It seemed she had gotten used to it, laying her emotions bare before her, always met with He Qingqi’s indulgent affection.

It made her greedy for more. This growing greed frightened her, leaving her with a thread of unease she couldn’t shake.

Only by looking at He Qingqi could she feel at ease.

She reached out, stroking He Qingqi’s hair, her voice tinged with bittersweet emotion, her eyes misty. She looked at He Qingqi intently.

Her usually calm eyes were now filled with rare confusion and vulnerability. “Will you keep comforting me for the rest of our lives?”

Even though she knew it was too early to talk about forever, she couldn’t stop herself from asking.

“It would be my honor,” He Qingqi said softly, her amber eyes shining like stars in the night sky.

Zhuo Zhiwei’s heart swelled with warmth, barely able to savor the moment before—

He Qingqi’s mischievous smile curled at the corners of her lips. With a playful glint in her eyes, she added in a low, sultry voice, “I’ll also make love to you for the rest of our lives.”

The tip of her pink tongue slipped out, licking her lips.

Zhuo Zhiwei’s heart ignited at those vulgar words, the embers from the previous night flaring up, sending waves of heat through her body. Her face turned bright red, her eyes widening in shock as she glanced around the bustling room. Thankfully, no one seemed to notice them, but there was a thrilling, forbidden excitement in their stolen moment.

He Qingqi, satisfied with Zhuo Zhiwei’s reaction, playfully bit her tongue and added, “And you can have me for the rest of our lives too.”

With that, she pressed her chest against Zhuo Zhiwei’s leg again.

Zhuo Zhiwei’s arms began to tremble. Though her heart raced, she forced herself to act composed.

Turning her flushed face away, she muttered, “Shameless!”

He Qingqi nodded obediently, her voice steady and sincere, despite knowing that wasn’t what Zhuo Zhiwei meant. “I only want Zhuo Zhiwei.”
